I'm still completely and utterly baffled by LSU's offensive play calling last night. I understand that Alabama has one of the most dominating defenses ever but how do you continually try runs, screens, and options that are getting completely stuffed? Not a single effort to try to open up anything down the field and possibly loosen up the defense. With the athletes LSU has at receiver it was worth taking at least some shots more than 5 f***ing yards past the line of scrimmage, no matter how bad their offense was playing as a whole. Really, what did they even have to lose once it got to a certain point? Also, Jefferson looked absolutely awful every time he tried to run the option last night. Never once did he make a defender commit to him and instead continued to run laterally before making a late pitch and letting his back get crushed behind the line. Jefferson looked absolutely scared from early in the 2nd quarter on. -

It is interesting to note the number of half-court attempts and heaves. While I am not sure how significantly it does impact statistics, it is extremely noticeable that Rose heaves it up every single chance, where I have seen plenty of other NBA players dribble out the clock before launching a 3/4 court shot. I have had conversations about this while watching Bulls and other games on League Pass. It is difficult to quantify obviously, and I am not not sure the effects are too significant statistically, but worth noting nonetheless. -

The more I read the more it seems like Ruskell may end up just getting promoted to GM. And that is extremely depressing and frustrating. -
Congrats to Barry Larkin, Hall of Fame 2012

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) I rooted for Denver for the soul fact that I wouldn't have to listen to Joe Cowley's smug ass talking about Pittsburgh all week logn. Your first problem is that your listen or read anything that Joe Cowley has to say anymore. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Nice to see you back. And yes, I never ever see MSU going places and then they ruin me every year(save last year and UCLA hanging on after a near epic collapse). You can just never sleep on those f***ers. And what do ya know, they start this year unranked and shoot all the way to 7 already. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) Worth noting...the team actually can't prevent him from interviewing elsewhere after the Ravens are out of the playoffs. So if that's not his call, it could still change. Unfortunately it was his call. http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/2012/01/0...y-in-baltimore/ -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) The difference between guys like Rose/Kobe and Wade/Lebron is astounding. I just cant imagine Rose/Kobe sitting on the bench in a 3 overtime game unless their leg needed to be amputated. What I found striking last night was that Wade/Lebron could have dressed and played, but they seemed more concerned about wearing college professor outfits and cheering on the sideline. At minimum youd expect them to dress and be ready just in case. Yes. If your foot/ankle injury is so f***ing bad why are you dancing and stomping around like a bafoon at the end of the bench? -

From everything I have heard Jay Cutler is an extremely intelligent QB and is more than capable of becoming more involved in audibles, gameplanning, etc... -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 10:42 AM) I feel the same. I'm sure he will definitely be setting game plans for majority of runs but can he call pass plays? Hope he has more imagination than John Schoop. They are hiring a passing game coordinator to work alongside him -

Jeremy Bates for the passing coordinator/qb coach? -
You really gotta wonder if this is gonna be worth it for O'Brien, obviously pay considerations and such will make it so, but he is leaving a pretty damn cozy position for an extremely volatile one

Hester is by far the more valuable player overall, but Knox is a far better 4th receiver. Knox wasn't very good this year and he still almost put up more yards than Hester's receiving career high. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) My worry about this continues to be that the last I saw of Johnny Knox involved him being darn near ripped in half. Excellent point. Man remember when Cutler made that ridiculous back of the end zone throw against SD where Knox hauled it in? Yeah, that's where we peaked.
