2011 NFL Lockout Thread
WHarris1 replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
It looks like the Bears will HAVE TO spend at least ~30 mil, I had no idea their cap situation was so strong. Could be an exciting (and obviously fast) free agency period for the Bears once the CBA is agreed to. -

Any other electronic music enthusiasts frequent this thread?

That would be incredibly great news if we could catch a team desperate enough for SP to flip a good package for EJax.

FWIW, without taking sides the point he was making with the porns wasn't that someone was going to intentionally swap a gay porn so that he had to watch it. It was clearly an analogy.
-
Just a question out of curiosity, say you are going away to college and you have a random roomate, would you consider it wrong for said incoming freshman to prefer to not live with a gay roomate?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Being completely intolerant towards a specific group of people, be it political, ethnic, or other. IMO him giving his opinion that he wouldn't want a gay son doesn't go to that degree. He's not saying all homosexuals should be round up and shot. He's not saying we should discriminate against them (in fact didn't he acknowledge the problem with discrimination?) I just don't think it hit that line. Bingo.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 09:05 AM) Now I think Jeter is as overrated as anybody, but that is a bit harsh. My thoughts exactly.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) That's an insult to the women's world cup. This World Cup has featured some really good soccer and has shown some good skill and it's had some great games. The WNBA on the other hand is more equivalent to watching paint dry. And now you've insulted watching paint dry...

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) That's weak sauce compared to '05 and '06 for many. No hyperbole here. I swear I voted for Pods at least 1000 times. And that's a conservative estimate. Yes absolutely. I can guarantee I logged over 1000 votes for Pods, and I sit here and think 'man, what the f*** was I thinking?".

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 08:57 AM) He and Rios literally lost us that game by not hustling. I'd rather have Adam Dunn and Juan Pierre sucking than to see that crap. I missed whatever happened with Rios and only saw a replay of the Lilli play, but that was heinous. He was trotting to a ball that delivered the game winning run. Give me a break. Everyone on the damn field should give it their all on every play, but espescially a bench player who realistically has proven nothing at this level. I love Lillibridge as much as the next guy but you can't give bulls*** effort like that. He wasn't expecting Tulo to score? Who cares what you are expecting even if he was pulling up at third you should be huslting that ball back in to the infield. Inexcusable.
-
How the f*** a guy like Brent Lillibridge isn't busting his ass completely on every single play is beyond me. Not that that shouldn't apply to everyone but God damn. That was a sad and pathetic way to lose a game.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:33 AM) I still have the same retort though...anyone you replace that offensively inept SG with also needs to be able to hold their ground against D-Wade, or you don't gain all that much. Absolutely, that is not a forgotten point. However from an overall team standpoint I think the difference between Bogans>JR Smith on offense, as well as how much better it would make the other players on offense could improve our team even with the decline in defense. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:24 AM) LeBron couldn't have played Rose if we had a 2 who could take the pressure off of him. Or if he did take Rose, our two would have toasted whatever PG was in the game. That made a huge difference in this series. BINGO. Having such an offensively inept shooting guard really hurts the team in a vareity of ways. Even if Bogans was knocking down the open 3s that is still all he is a threat to do. When you have a 2 who can create off his own dribble and shoot the 3 (even if hes only decent at both) it completely changes the complexion of the offense. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:53 AM) Well, I'm seriously banking that Richardson isn't as bad as 2010/2011. I really wouldn't mind Richardson either, again though not a top choice. I personally don't think the Bulls were as far away as other people seem to think. If we had a 2 who could create and knock down 3s we could have easily won the Heat series. And that's with DRose playing pretty atrociously. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) I think we're all clueless on that front. This is all speculation. That's why in this random speculation I greatly prefer the idea of Jason Richardson to that of chuck specialist JR Smith. So JR Smith is a chucker but Jason Richardson is a good efficient score? Similar TS% for both but less shot attempts for JR... -

Richmond's father trying to save things: "Jereme doesn't feel that way about the process, Illinois or Jerrance Howard," Bill Richmond said. "We love Jerrance. He's like a friend to me, he really is. He's a good guy and he's never done anything but try and help our kid get to where he wanted to go." "They were incredible in their efforts to help Jereme to reach his potential and his goal. I will forever support the University of Illinois," Bill Richmond said. "Bruce Weber is the consummate coach that everybody says he is. He's a good person. He is absolutely one of the best people I ever met in my life." -

You make it sound as if the guy is a pathetic 3 pt shooter. Over the last 5 years 39/40/40/34/39 %. He can create offense which is something we desperately need, clearly there are other candidates I would prefer but I don't understand the notion that acquiring no one would be better than acquiring JR Smith. -

Give me JR over a "chemsitry guy" who can't put the ball in the hoop.
