  1. Josh Smith is atrocious. Although he was one of the Bulls best players in their series against ATL...
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) A little more? He's 6'8, strong as hell AND FAST, for nights when his shot is off he should put his ass down there. It would be game over, greatest modern offensive player ever, hands down. He doesn't. That's exactly it. The guy is 6'8", 270 lbs, stronger than hell, runs like a gazelle, jumps out of the gym and he doesn't have a f***ing post move.
  3. Bill Simmons' "everything package" comparison really just sums it up the best
  4. I agree, he is not an all-time underachiever at this point. However, by definition of the word underachieve, he has done that.
  5. I wouldn't say hes one of the biggest underachievers of the last 20 years but he definitely is underachieving to some extent.
  6. I mean in the true sense of the word how has Lebron not underachieved? Sure he still puts up phenomenal numbers, but this guy has FAR AND AWAY more basketball talent than anyone else in the league and hasn't won s***. Playing hot potato with the ball in the fourth quarter of an elimination NBA finals game when you are the best player on the floor is underachieving.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) SP in the AL is just too deep. And I don't think Humber has that league-wide recognition as of yet. Even with the great numbers he's putting up that you've alluded to. To put it in perspective. Which one of these pitchers would you boot in favor of Humber? Felix Verlander Weaver Haren Pineda Beckett Lester Ogando Price Sabathia Shields Gonzalez Romero Wilson Buchholz Those are starting pitchers I came up with right off the top of my head. Now obviously all 15 of these guys aren't going to make it regardless. Now Felix, Verlander, Weaver, Haren, Beckett, Lester, Price, Sabathia should all be locks. Not only based off of their performance this year, but their proven pedigrees. James Shields and Michael Pineda have been flat out better than Humber. I don't think anybody would question that. That leaves you with Gonzalez, Romero, Wilson, Ogando abd Buchholz. Gonzalez will be their simply because you have to take at least one guy from each team (not that he's not worthy). Wilson and Ogando, or at least one of them, will be there because Ron Washington is the manager. Romero is on his second consecutive really good year (he's even better better than last year) and pitches in that beast of a division. Then you're left with Buchholz, who's a 'name' and pitches for arguably the second most popular organization in baseball. There's just no way Humber would be able to overcome all that unless he threw a perfect game or something. He just hasn't been doing it long enough, nor is he viewed as a premium talent (like Pineda) and is not a 'brand' name. Right, I definitely agree with you. I was moreso just surprised by just how well he ranks in the AL from a pure numbers standpoints. It really is incredible what he has given us this year. The fact that he is legitimately a part of this All-Star conversation is awesome.
  8. Humber ranks 8th in ERA and 5th in WHIP in the AL this year. He has surrendered the 5th fewest walks of any qualified starter in the AL, 6th lowest avg. against. If only his strikeout numbers were there with the league leaders he would be a lock for the ASG.
  9. If EJax gets shelled and Hudson throws a gem PHT should probably just be on a 1 day close down
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) I still love seeing Willie Harris out there as well.
  11. When I saw the thread title first two that came to mind were Jose Reyes & Stanton. Also - Tulo, Kershaw. Willie Harris, duh.
  12. Really emphasizes a winning environment when you day after day trot out one of the bottom 10 regulars in the MLB in your leadoff spot. Hey you know what Juan, you don't hit you don't run you don't even field well anymore, but we have no problem letting you getting the most plate apperances on the team this year. Really shows that it doesn't matter how poorly you play
  13. What more do you need to see to know that your f***ing pathetic slap hitting .250 AVG 50% SB mediocre D at best LF probably shouldn't be racking up the most PAs on your f***ing roster?
  14. It's not just about the tactical bulls*** that Ozzie fails at so poorly. How the f*** does your team continually get ass rammed by their primary rival game in, game out, series in, series out, year in, year out? Clearly there is a lot of work to do with the peronnel on the ball club but right now the best thing that could happen would be a new God damn manager.
  15. Remember when the thought of trading Beckham for Halladay was risky?
  16. Does anyone swing and miss or foul off more fastball than this guy?
  17. Good job Dunn, someone bring that run around. Really shocking that Rios had a poor AB though...
  18. You gotta feel like if you are playing the Sox you might as well just put PK and CQ on, s***
  19. Second straight AB for our "5 hitter" to produce some runs. Please, AJ...
  20. God it will be a glorious day when Juan Pierre is no longer on this team
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) It does suck to have AJ there. Especially when you look down and see what Dunn and Rios have given you this year. Exactly. As I said I'm not claiming we have far better options, its just extremely disappointing when you expected a decently high-powered offense and you have a guy with a sub-.700 OPS hitting 5th who has very minimal run producing capabilities.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:09 AM) I wouldn't be opposed to moving Dunn up to 5 at this point. I agree completely and that is exactly what I was thinking as AJ came up representing the tying run last night. He is hitting the ball decently from an AVG perspective, but it's pretty terrible when your 5 hole guy can't drive in a run or pick up an XBH or BB to save his life. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) Eh, that whole string was awful. 2nd and 3rd with no one out and you got nothing out of your 3-4-5 hitters. Right right. CQ had a brutal AB, PK got a little unlucky, but then in that situation to have AJ is just like welp that's your ball game.
  23. Not saying there are glaringly better options but AJ as the 5 hitter is so damn miserable. It manifested itself last night in the 9th inning.
