QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) per ESPNews Wisconsin has made a pact with the devil that if they win tonight they win automatically win the Big 10. WTF? How can you not realize that if Wisconsin wins tonight they are in great shape to win the B10? -
Right but an 80-11 record sure is a damn good start. No one is harping on the 2007 class being the messiah. It is just used when someone says Bruce can't recruit. No one will argue that. If if if. If Deron Williams didn't have a child and wife he wouldn't need the money from the NBA so he could have stayed. Then Illinois would be on top of the B10. That's a weak point.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) You guys can't have it both ways. So recruiting rankings are overrated, but Illinois can't recruit, but their great 2007 class won't matter for a while. The circular arguments are something, please just admit you hate Illinois and root for your team, because your clueless in this case. It's actually pretty interesting. First the football coach sucks because he can't coach on the field. But then the basketball coach isn't special because he can't recruit. (His 06 class is no good because of poor star ratings, and the 07 class is bad because star ratings are no good)

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) And I think the relevant factor of whether some one can recruit or not is, The final standings and the ability in the NCAA tournament. End result is all that matters, not any sites ratings or rankings. So I dont judge classes until they are done. Im pretty sure that in the next half decade that regardless of whether or not Wisconsin gets hyped recruits as long as Ryan is the coach they will be top 3 Big 10. Wouldn't that be somewhat of a testament to Bruce? Like I said before no Illini fans are hanging their hopes on a 2007 recruiting class, merely pointing out that Weber can recruit hyped players.
-
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) Wow are Illini fans touchy these days. Lets be serious you are all riding your hope on 2007 class that for the most part will not even see the court and make major impacts until 2008 and 2009. By then the entire landscape of the Big 10 could have completely changed, not to mention I do not believe that "verbal" is written in stone, and you can just as easily lose a top 100 recruit as gain one. Nothing in life is certain, and really banking on recruit classes is more hit and miss than prospects in baseball. Im sure the Illini will have a good program, whether or not it will be an elite program is for argument. But for people to just constantly come in and act like they know everything is just foolish. Good luck, but come on, acting so aloof because of a 2007 class is kind of lame. I'm pretty sure the 2007 class is very very relevant when talking about whether someone can recruit or not. That is most definitely true so how can the 2006 class Weber is bringing be dismissed because of star ratings? No one is acting aloof because of an 07 class, the only reason it was brought up was because someone said Weber can't recruit.

Neyer got burned very badly by the Sox last year so there is no way he will ever give them any credit. What a tool.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Gonna huh? They have nobody for next year, and they wont in the future. The guy simply cant recruit. Have you even looked at their 2007 class?
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) Illinois is not going to sniff another big ten title after this year for awhile. Bruce Weber cant recruit Keep dreaming. The 2007 class is gonna be ridiculous.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) Back to the topic, I see two guys that we can draft in the first round that would have a positive impact on the Bears: Pope the TE from UGA and Bing the DB from USC. Would anyone be mad with either pick? I also wouldn't mind someone like Tye Hill from Clemson

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) With regard to Rich McBride, no he did not shoot the ball well tonight, but neither did anyone from the outside. Rich still plays much better defense than Jamar, and I really do not think Jamar Smith has a very good grasp of the offense right now. Most of his open looks have come off in transition. Give him some time and that will come around. No, Rich has not shot the ball very well, especially on the road, but until Jamar Smith becomes more than just a shooter, the Illini are better off with McBride, and maybe even Frazier, on the floor. How about shooting less then? -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) The good: -Dee's Pg play, his shooting was off but he did a great job setting people up -Pruitt was a stud -Randle played very well tonight -Chester's heart and D The bad -Dee's shooting -FT shooting THe ugly -Rich McBride Agreed on all accounts. Rich McBride is more and more frustrating as the games go by. Jamar needs to starting taking his minutes. -

C'mon Randle knock down this free throw. Then keep up the defensive intensity. KEEP FIGHTING
