Bears sending six players to Pro Bowl

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) ok mediocre is defined as "Moderate to inferior in quality". below average certainly fills those qualifications, no? if you want to be like that then fine. substitute mediocre to below average. i have never said anything other than roy williams is BELOW AVERAGE in coverage. they way i am seeing it is that you guys for some reason are trying to say i am saying differently? Look... Roy Williams is good against the run Roy Williams is not good against the pass How can you be a GREAT player when around half the time you are below average? -

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) if he plays the run great, yes. that is what a typical SS is. mediocre coverage, great run D. of course, every team wants one that has both skills, but those players are few and far between. But he isn't mediocre in coverage -

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) i said below average. So a below average cover man can be a GREAT SS? -

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) haha way to try to find some way to make me seem wrong. That wasn't what I was doing, actually I was just trying to be accurate. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Wow, with alternates and what not, we could send 7 of our defensive starters to the Pro Bowl this year. Tommie Harris Brian Urlacher Lance Briggs Adawale Ogunleye Alex Brown Mike Brown Nathan Vasher I think that Alex Brown goes before Adawale Ogunleye. Adawale tends to piss me off at times with his poor tackling technique. They teach you at a very early age to TACKLE AT THE WAIST AND WRAP YOUR ARMS AROUND THE MOTHERf***ER. How many countless times has he whiffed when an RB came his way? He goes high every time. If he could do something about that, he'd be a devastating all-around DE. As it is now, he's about as one-dimensional as they come, albeit extremely valuable in that one area. Not that Alex Brown is absolutely perfect when it coems to tackling technique, but Wally makes him look like Strahan. I figured at least one of Alex and Wale would get in, instead...neither. Hopefully 1 or both gets a chance to go to Hawaii. -

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) haha and if brown was on the cowboys, you'd bash him. dude come up with an argument rather than just calling homerism. I did and all you said was that Roy Williams is average in coverage, which isn't true. -

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) so it ends up being you underrating him, while you complain about others overrating him. funny. Yeah that can't go both ways or anything... So it ends up being you overrating him, while you complain about other underrating him. Funny. Look you are a Cowboy fan...everytime they are discussed you come in and back them, if Roy Williams was on the Bears you would bash him. -

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) hey hey, way to be an anti-cowboys homer. works the same way :rolly you take out the words roy williams from my posts, and the same message is there. do you agree with what i said? Obviously SS most importantly must be good against the run but that is no excuse to be pitiful in coverage. He would be good for an OLB, but he doesn't play there, he plays SS which (while run is more important) must be strong against both to be as good as you claim him to be. You cannot be a great SS when you blow nuts in pass coverage. -

Haha just listening to Briggs, he sounds cool as hell. "What's it mean to be goin with so many guys from your defense?" "It's great not only becuase it shows how great our defense is but also I can try and find Tommie on the plane and bother him for a few hours..." -
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Damon is a really good character individual? the guy is and always has been a phony. He's been a very selfish person, someone whose looked out for his interests and noone elses from day one. he criticizes teammates and the organization when things aren't going his way, and showed no respect for red sox fans throughout this entire contractual process. he also cheated on his wife to put the cherry on top. a player who will certainly decline in the next year or two. Would your tune be the same if Boston had resigned him...

Dawkins and Brown don't even play the same position and Dawkins didn't make the team. Hmm. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Roy Williams f***ing sucks. Most overhyped and over-rated player in the league. The guy can't cover s***. He can hit and boy can he hit, but he's not a great safety. Just ask Dbaho (well if he'll ignore his homerisms). He gets reamed in coverage all the time. Small example was the pathetic job he did in the Washington game earlier in the year where he got burned on consecutive bombs for TD's on plays that were his responsibility. ^^^^^^^^ Agree 100% -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Do we have to argue the same thing here and on aim. Yes...
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) That's an IF though, Jon has proven more recently that he's a better pitcher. And it's not an IF that Garland can repeat last season? Hell neither of these guys are sure things so I will take my chances with the guy that has proved it over multiple years and has dynamite stuff.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) Yes, what Vazquez did in Montreal is a few years away. He hasn't done s*** since the 1st half of the year with the Yanks (after that he was completely terrible and was very up and down for the Dbacks last year). Vazquez has good stuff, but just cause every guy has good stuff doesn't mean the Sox can just take him in and work there magic, turning them into aces. But who knows, maybe Coop is the 2nd coming of Mazzone. Coincidience Javy went down hill when pitching for the Yankees? This guy was a stud in Montreal, better than the Garland of last year. He obviously couldn't handle pitching in New York and didn't bounce back pitching for s***ty Arizona. I would give him pretty good odds pitching with a manager he likes and a good game-calling catcher to bounce back.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Last season, obviously. Vazquez has had a better career in the nl but Jon is 26 years old and coming off a fantastic year so he could definitely be the better pitcher. As of right now I think Jon is better but if Coop can figure out Vaz again then Javi is going to be a stud for us imo. Ah so last year makes him ALOT better?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Garland >>> Vazquez. Based on what? It's really hard to judge either of them or predict what they will do this year. I don't see how Garland is A LOT better than Vaz. If you base on past success Javy is far better, base it on last year Garland is better. Last year was Garlands first good year, whereas Javy used to be great and has been down a bit recently.

What about Ayanbadejo? Also it is awesome seeing the defense get the love it deserves, especially a guy like Tommie Harris who could be easily overlooked. -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) We need to ride your gift for killing players on teams. I suggest that you change your avatar to Santana of the Twins, your name to IlovePronk, and have a sig pic of Maggs, Mauer, and Nathan. Pretty much we win 120 games then and the AL central is locked up for 10 years.
