  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) Pat White and Steve Slaton are the coolest. f*** no. You can't have them. They're mine.
  2. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) I just got off the phone with Brooks Boyer.... and he loves your guys idea.... he is even parlaying a Bonds signing into a new in-game-feature. You heard about the Sausage race in Milwaukee well the cell will feature... "The Slow mother f***er race" where Bonds, Thome, Konerko, and AJ all partake in various situations where speed would be beneficial... but get thrown out because they are all slow motherf***ers. Alternatively we could go with the good D/fast guy plan and have a contest to see which guy out of Jerry Owens/Ryan Sweeney/other grinders we sign can get an OPS over .750 first.
  3. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) AL pitchers will not walk Bonds to get to Konerko, or Thome. His OBP would be WAY lower batting 3rd or 4th on the sox And in turn he will get great pitches to hit. This year he does not get s*** to hit so all he can do is walk, or try and do something with the 2 pitches he sees over the plate, and even the most disciplined of hitters will struggle at times when they aren't getting anything to drive.
  4. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) Uh, yes I can. People will not buy a ticket just to see bonds. Thinking they will is asinine. You go to 60 games a year? good for you. So the Giants are behind only the Red Sox, Mets, and Yankees in road attendance because people want to see Omar Vizquel and Pedro Feliz? The Giants attendance is still ridiculously high because of their battle for 1st place and their desire to catch Randy Winn's quest for a .300 avg? No, it's because Barry Bonds. And thank you. I don't think people WANT Barry Bonds, I think they will PAY to see him. History and facts are on my side there.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) but if you just ignore the OBP, But why would you ignore his most impressive statistic and the reason he would be a perfect fit?
  6. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) no offense, but some kid from Naperville doesn't really have his "finger on the pulse" of sox fans. Sox fans DO NOT want him, trust me on that. What does that have to do with anything? I guess attending some 50-60 games I would have no clue what Sox fans think. And it really doesn't matter if people want him, you cannot argue the fact that people pay to see Barry Bonds play, period.
  7. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) that worked well for us this year. Please tell me who you are going to spend 10 million on a bullpen for.
  8. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:35 PM) Bonds sure is doing alot for the Giants right now. 13 games back.... they must be lacking 7 1/2 hitters. How about we get a bullpen, and stay away from cheaters. They also have an embarrassing major league lineup. Clearly it is Bonds' fault they are 13 games out. And getting a bullpen and signing Bonds can both be done considering getting a bullpen is not a costly thing to do.
  9. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) I don't know any sox fans that like bonds. Just having Barry Bonds on the roster won't help attendance. You're kidding yourself. But either way what about the other points? Where are you going to drop massive amounts of money on pitching?
  10. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) The sox need speed, defense, and a fairly cheap option for the outfield. bonds is none of those. i would rather spend money on pitching than bonds. happy? He may not be cheap but the addition of Barry Bonds will go some ways towards keeping attendance up, after this rough year who knows where attendance might head. That will help with the huge cost of Bonds, not to mention he is quite easily one of the best bats in the league no matter how old he is. And as has already been mentioned he could be a possible DH candidate, or even if you do have him in LF you still have 2 spots to put your little slap hitters you so badly want. And where are you going to spend huge money on pitching?
  11. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) spaz much? avoid the point because you dont have one much?
  12. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) he's 43, slow, and body is breaking down. understand? Sox aren't signing bonds kid, get over it and go play nintendo or somethin Ya I guess if you ignore the fact that he LEADS THE f***ING LEAGUE IN OPS, and is getting on base almost every other plate appearance he is going down hill. Haha go play Nintendo, good one, when you have no legit argument say stupid s***, good plan.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) I'm serious about Willie. HE's having a great season but I still don't see anyone giving him huge money. You could sign him and play him in CF (he was never that bad out there) and he gives you a boatload of speed. Plus Willie is patient, can run, and is still on the right side of 30. Richar at 2nd gives you more speed than Guchi obviously and you replace Uribe with a SS, and than if you get the right offer move one of our starters for more ML ready position talent and than maybe make a run at one good size free agent if you feel ready. Or just go with a Willie and Bonds FA signing, haha. I would honestly love to bring Willie back. He has always had the talent to be a starter in this league and this year he is showing it. His glove in CF would be more than fine, and his speed and athleticism is something we could use, although we are improving in that regard.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) Hey Willie...wouldn't it be great to have Harris playing CF for the Sox next year? Boooooya, that would be so nasty. Bonds-Harris-Fields...I could deal with any defensive woes there because it is just so badass.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) No s***. Picking up Bonds for LF next year would be an awesome move, and if Kenny is really confident that the pitching is good enough to compete next season, it's really an easy decision to make. I'd then put Fields in RF, Crede at third and go cheap for CF (Baldelli? Owens-Terrero platoon? Hell, even Sweeney?). Bonds is gonna get on base at a .450-.500 clip until he dies and he's almost a guaranteed 1.000 bat.
  16. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Yes it will. If A-Rod ends this year with 510, and hits exactly 40 a year for the next 10 years, he'll end up with 810. Scary. Check that math haha
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) I just knew that blown call with Theriot would lead to a few runs for the Cubs. Yup, that's just the way it's going for them. f***ers.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Chris who? That just never gets old!
