  1. Personally I've long since soured on the '83s, so I'm glad this officially bumps them. Time to move on.
  2. Does MLB/Nike still have their "4 uniform combinations plus a City Connect" rule they implemented a couple of years ago? I know it doesn't impact us as much because we don't have many alternates, but that would mean: - home whites - road grays - black jersey and white pants - Southside former CC - Bulls CC Some other teams like Seattle and Arizona had to make some tough choices and dropped some good ones.
  3. I think we need to start lowering our expectations that Colson will ever amount to anything. 3B with back problems that can't hit a fastball? I've almost already written him off.
  4. This is not a limiting factor and not a reason to delay any a Robert trade. They could put Southpaw in centerfield and it wouldn't impact the trajectory of this team. Make the moves to make the team better in the future. The present is not a concern.
  5. I'm getting this surgery done on my right knee on Tuesday (a mildly complex tear and a horizontal tear). I saw the update and bragged to my wife that I'm basically a White Sox OFer, but she wasn't impressed.
  6. Also the "it's a business" stuff goes both ways - yes, he signed an extension and stayed here ... because we gave him money. I've also worked for a job that sucked but paid me. He made the decision to stay because it's a job and they gave him an opportunity to make more money. He did what he did, and he said what he said. I don't fault him.
  7. The Pirates were BAD bad throughout the '90s, '00s, and '10s. The Royals were BAD bad for most of the same stretch. The Mariners missed the playoffs for something like 22 straight seasons. MLB doesn't care about parity. They care about making money. We have a long way to go before MLB steps in and tampers with an owner's business.
  8. Oh those Rockies ones are really good. I like the Twins one as well. As a Boston resident, the marathon-themed ones get pretty tired and probably pretty confusing for everyone else that doesn't get the connection with the yellow and blue theme. Speaking of, I'm sure we'll get to see them again in two weeks as our Sox are in town for the Marathon Monday morning game again.
  9. Agreed, seems pretty lazy in its execution
  10. It's fairly obvious that this offense is going to struggle to put runs on the board, and that's before we trade anyone with a pulse. The 2024 Sox already flirted with setting the record for "times shut out in a season", still held by the 1908 Cardinals at 33. In light of that, let's have some fun! Let's count 'em out.
  11. But wouldn't that just be a shrewd business move, anticipating the sale? Buy up other shares at a depressed value to increase their overall value once the team is sold to Ishbia. Or better yet, buy low now and hold through the sale, with the expectation that the next owner actually invests in the program to increase their overall value. Sell in 30 years for f-you generational money.
  12. Kopech had a lot of Sox stank attached to him last year and the Dodgers turned him around in a hurry. I wonder what their clubhouse relationship was and if the Dodgers approach Kopech and ask "can this guy ball if he gets out of that swamp?" I wouldn't write this off just because Robert smells like the Sox right now. (Injury fear is valid and a real consideration, I can't refute that)
  13. Man, this suck is so interchangeable, I can't even get the year right
  14. But did the shot come from inside the stadium or outside? 🤔
  15. I definitely don't want to see the regular '83s ever again. I'd love to see them bring back the '50s Minnie Minoso hats/logos as the Sunday alternate.
  16. I'm not sure who this person is or where they got this image from but sharing what could be an interesting jersey, if it's real
  17. Obviously it's cool that we're viewed as having a strong farm system, but my main takeaway is that we're ushering in a new Evil Empire in baseball with the Dodgers having more money than god AND the top prospect pool to play with.
  18. Sure, but I'm still also scarred by how Gordon Beckham lost all confidence after being moved all over the diamond defensively while still also trying to figure out how to hit consistently as a big leaguer. Seemed like every move and adjustment was accompanied by two steps backward in his development.
  19. Deleting my reaction as a knee-jerk before seeing all of the names.
  20. It'll be the most White Sox thing to happen if they actually do trade Cease and get equal or better value than we did.
  21. Bleacher Report so grain of salt etc, but there are a few interesting teams in here. Obviously all speculation but some teams and names I hadn't thought of. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10140565-cooking-up-8-garrett-crochet-trade-packages-for-2024-25-mlb-offseason.amp.html Mets don't have anyone in their rotation, though they also lack some of the top-top prospects like some of the other programs, but Jett Williams is a fast riser and Drew Gilbert (not mentioned in this article but someone to look at) sounds like the good parts of Adam Eaton. Phillies are obvious as that's where I thought he was going at the deadline last year, still like them to make this move.
  22. And whether that's because we're hiring those that are bad at their jobs or it's just the institutional stench attached to them, no one has gone on to have a coaching career post-managing the Sox since Jerry Manual in 2003. 2024 - Grifol. Should not have been hired and may never be hired again 2022 - Cairo. Interim to end the year, never coached again 2022 - LaRussa. Should not have been hired and frankly should've stayed retired in the first place; will never manage again 2020 - Renteria. Hired as a bridge guy, never coached again 2016 - Ventura. Had to be persuaded to take it, never coached again 2011 - Don Cooper (only a few games). Never coached again after being fired in 2020 2011 - Guillen. One terrible season in Miami, then never coached again If we're looking at guys that want to start their careers, well, we don't have a great history of anyone even getting employed after we touch them.
