  1. That's about how hard he runs to first base anyway, looks like he's back to normal ?
  2. He's, uh, rather infamous on Twitter. He's definitely a known quantity.
  3. Everyone knows the Dodgers want to upgrade pitching to replace Bauer, given that he might never play for them again. My guess is that the Dodgers are serious about this and that the Padres know it and want to drive LA's prospect price up.
  4. What this series has told me is that the trade for Lynn was a damn fine decision.
  5. Yeah but how many double plays has he grounded into, hmmm? ?
  6. Why did sports collectively agree that animals (particularly birds and big cats) are the go-to team name and mascot? Because they're boring and non-offensive. Kudos to Cleveland for trying something with their identity. You're always going to get those people that are upset when something goes against the grain, even if it plays to the local identity and the area supporting the team likes it. Hell, look at the mixed reviews and backlash Kannapolis got on their rebrand to the Cannonballers. Local connection but still has broad appeal and a fun mascot. It's always going to happen that way, and then we'll all get used to it.
  7. The more I read about the Cleveland identity thing with the wings on the G logo and everything tying into the statutes that are a staple in the city, the more I can come around on it. I think it's dumb and sounds like a soccer team. But Cleveland people seem to really like it and have that civic pride as it fits with their identity, and that's all that really matters.
  8. Another flyout to deep center in the 3rd. Little thing, but I appreciate that he's wearing his Sox batting helmet instead of the W-S helmet.
  9. This whole saga trying to figure out what Yermin is saying reminds me of that satirical ESPN bit back in the day where Barry Sanders says he called his coach and said "I'm tired", but the coach thought he said "I'm retired".
  10. Feel like this is where we bump that juggernaut thread again. We're top-5 in odds win the World Series and have been doing it with a roster fall of replacement-level guys, call-ups, and underperforming studs. And these guys have been contributing to the point where we need to debate what to do with the roster once we get the starters back. Now Tim is hitting HRs, Moncada is hitting HRs, Abreu is driving in runs, and we've got three dynamos coming back from injury soon. We're sending a message to the rest of the league - get fucking ready.
  11. Lol at Baldelli making a bullpen move for Zavala.
  12. Agreed on this front. And it's not like we're struggling to score runs either, and expect more offense once Eloy is back soon. While Zavala's swings a wet noodle at the plate, I don't see a pressing need to replace him just to get a few more hits.
  13. I joked in the GT last night that it would be the last we saw of Burger for a while after he swung 3-0. And that's how we get two catchers in the same lineup.
  14. Burger popping out on a 3-0 pitch. Guess that's the last we'll seeing of him for a while ?
  15. Love the new look today of Abreu, Vaughn, Moncada, Burger batting 3 through 6. Be interesting to see how that plays out. Vaughn just missed a couple last night, could've easily had 2 dingers but for a fraction of an inch on contact
  16. I think I was advocating for this as Rodon's roll to start the year, hoping to find the next Pomeranz. Clearly didn't remember the last time he was thrown in relief, and I'm glad the Sox didn't try to do it in retrospect, given what we have in Rodon now. Anyway, maybe Lopez can be our Pomeranz!
  17. I can only imagine Keuchel's response when he sees Burger a 3B and Moncada at 2B behind him
  18. It's Cash, though, he's definitely going to what he sees sees and knows the best.
