  1. I'm genuinely surprised we haven't really seen Sheets yet. Feel like this would be a great time to have him up and show him off in RF as showcase for other teams while also seeing what we have in him ourselves. Unless they know he really can't play RF and we want to sell on what the other teams hear, not what they see.
  2. But why not both? You're talking about the wave of guys that are years away from contributing (Kelley, etc) in order to win now. Why not trade the "almost ready" guys like Sheets and Stiever to win now, and then keep those second wave guys like Kelley? We can go both: win now and prepare for replacing Gio and Keuchel in the future. We have so much of the core locked up for 5+ years that guys like Kelley that come cheap are exactly what we need to AVOID Reinsdorf impeding future success.
  3. The rest of the single game tickets went on sale today. I just picked up some lower box tix for one of the games against the Yankees in August, first game back in 6 seasons!
  4. Sounds like it's their issue with their coding. They're trying to use the proper spelling of Rodón but their UI is messed up. That ó is supposed to be converted into an 'ó' in a web user interface.
  5. Carlos Rodon is still having a good game, you guys.
  6. Carlos Rodon is having a good game, you guys.
  7. I like to think it's TA7 leading that charge with his "I'm the best in the league and I'm going to prove it attitude". Not cocky, just confident. Billy Hamilton has mentioned multiple times how TA's attitude has rubbed off on him and look at how Billy has been playing this year. End of the day, these guys all have pro talent. If we can tap into some of that unrealized talent and get the most out of these guys, all the better for it.
  8. Burger seems like the kind of guy that would go to Kansas City and immediately turn into a Billy Butler that would be a perpetual pain in our sides. But only if he goes to KC, if that makes sense.
  9. And this also means Leury once again going to be getting "everyday starter" time and overexposing his role. We're also one bad move from any infielder away from having to call up someone like Jake Burger or something. Living on the razor's edge from a depth perspective.
  10. From the White Sox ticket website - Following approvals from the State of Illinois and City of Chicago and in accordance with Phase 5 planning, the Chicago White Sox will fully open with 100 percent capacity at Guaranteed Rate Field beginning Friday, June 25. Single game tickets to the remainder of White Sox home games at Guaranteed Rate Field go on sale to the general public at noon on Tuesday, June 15.
  11. I have a pair of Mark Teahen's authentic, game-worn halfway to St. Pat's game pants with the green pinstripes. Buddy saw them on eBay for $40 years ago and bought them for me in lieu of payment on a bet. And no, I have no idea what to actually do with a pair of another man's pants.
  12. Do we know how the Sox are announcing or releasing ticket availability for later in the season? I've got a trip back to town in August during the Yankees series and want to be able to buy direct from the team, rather than get raked for re-sale prices on a premiere weekend matchup.
  13. For those interested in tracking along at home, Ump Scorecards just released a searchable database of all games, umps, teams, etc. Very cool tool. Now you can use data when you say "we got jobbed!" https://umpscorecards.com/site-data/games.html
  14. When Lynn is bringing this energy to his starts, I don't care how little rest he needs.
  15. My ideal move is Engel up and Eaton to IL, and also Sheets up and Lamb DFA'd. We probably won't see that last part, though.
  16. If Adam Eaton isn't fast enough anymore to score on that play, he loses tremendous value from his game for this team.
  17. There's no perfect solution, obviously, but thinking about moving Vaughn to RF in September just before the playoffs makes me cringe. I keep thinking of Nelson Cruz and the route he took in RF during the David Freese Game in the 2011 World Series that cost Texas the championship. Obviously, in this last scenario Vaughn would've been benched for a defensive sub late in the game, but stands as an example of the defense vs. offense argument when it comes to the playoffs.
  18. I fully expect Grandal to give up a passed ball run here.
  19. Might've just rolled over that one, got it in the ribs?
  20. Eat your heart out, Grandal stans.
  21. This will be LaRussa's reunion game with the Cards, so of course ESPN wanted those broadcast rights. Get a bucket a ready because the on-screen graphics and forced references to his time in StL are going to be nauseating.
  22. These stories are weird because on the one hand you get some that are "how the hell can we hit that?? That's cheating!", and then on the other hand you get "I'd prefer they use something to be able to control their pitches rather than throw 102 mph and not know where it's going". I don't know what the regulation looks like but it sounds like most people agree pitchers need *something* to help them control the ball, but also *not too much* that they're getting wiffle ball movement. The obvious course of action would be produce a better ball and enforce a ban on substances, but MLB will find a way to cock that up too.
  23. No thank you. Look, I love Bryce Harper and think he would be a lot fun to watch for a couple years. But I want no part in bailing out some team of their mega deal and be left holding the (very heavy) bag for 8 more years. Look at what's happened to the Angels' flexibility the last few years and where Pujols is now.
  24. Jeeze, sounds like this place really needs some on-field action to talk about. Two hours to first pitch, let's do it.
