  1. I think I was advocating for this as Rodon's roll to start the year, hoping to find the next Pomeranz. Clearly didn't remember the last time he was thrown in relief, and I'm glad the Sox didn't try to do it in retrospect, given what we have in Rodon now. Anyway, maybe Lopez can be our Pomeranz!
  2. I can only imagine Keuchel's response when he sees Burger a 3B and Moncada at 2B behind him
  3. It's Cash, though, he's definitely going to what he sees sees and knows the best.
  4. Anyone catch the bit on the ESPN feed last night while Story was batting during the Derby? They had someone on reporting that the Rockies explicitly told teams that they would not listen to offers on Story until after the ASG, but then acknowledged everyone expects him to move. The curious bit was that Ravich's next line was about how teams will certainly be interested in him and specifically mentioned the White Sox as the type of team that might be interested. Didn't mention anyone else. Probably just a throw-away line from Ravich but I found it interesting that he mentioned us and no one else; he didn't have to do that.
  5. He looks so gassed. Hope he lives through this, want to see him really get his swing going and see what he can do.
  6. Definitely true, oh man. Hopefully they'll find a middle ground. I know that year that Harper kind of cheated and didn't wait for them to come down added so much drama as he made his comeback in the final, but it's less fun when we can't watch each of these go out.
  7. Yep, the pace is just too frenetic and they have too many graphics on the screen, so much going on. I feel like an old man getting upset and yelling "slow down!"
  8. I see a couple folks saying Jason needs it, but I've got to commend the two of them for just how well they've called the games just looking at monitors for half the season. It's really felt seamless where it feels more like that they're at the game and it's only some moments that stand out and break that illusion where I remember that they aren't there (most notably those games where there's a delay in one person's feed so they end up talking over each other). They've done better than I could've imagined, given the constraints. With that said, I'm sure they're even happier than us that they get to travel and call the games first-hand.
  9. This may be a contributing factor to why Eaton isn't around anymore - the fans and his teammates really seem to enjoy being around Billy Hamilton, seems like that clubhouse/energy guy that provides many of the skills (and intangibles) that made Eaton expendable.
  10. I feel like this is the type of lineup gets a loss 4 out 5 games, but puts up 9+ runs in that fifth game somehow.
  11. At least this is the "best" time for something like this to happen to, if it it's going to happen. Two series against weak teams until we can limp into the ASB and rest up more. Gives them time to assess how bad the injury is and how to prioritize needs for our trade deadline moves.
  12. Yeah, he had this out 3 days ago, I think. Suggested Story at 2B and a reliever as our moves to make. This is my preference as I buy his thought process of the Colorado owners more concerned about getting that contract off the books that could really discount the names we have to send in return.
  13. So I'm guessing Burger is more than willing to give up his spot on the MiLB Futures Game roster if that means he's on the big league roster.
  14. Dude. Lighten up and let the internet have some fun for a minute. No one is advocating for a $100M blockbuster movie over this, it's hyperbole.
  15. Careful that you don't upset him, or he'll call you up and argue that it wasn't his fault.
  16. When Tim Anderson is the only one of the nine opening day starters playing in his natural position today, you know the defense is going to suffer. Rodon is having a tough inning but the defense hasn't done him any favors. And that's honestly to be expected with today's lineup being held together with spit and duct tape.
  17. I hear where you're coming from, but I feel like that first inning back for pitchers is usually a high-energy thing where they're wound tight. Get the jitters out of the way now before it matters. But end of the day, it's just one inning and he'll be just fine, do or don't. Not the biggest concern in the grand scheme.
