  1. I don't want to be a buzzkill but it's kind of underwhelming, once I get over the initial excitement? Like, the renderings look... good, not great? And then also consider that what we see in the renderings vs. what we actually get is usually way less exciting (go back and look at what the new Rangers stadium was supposed to be). It doesn't look like much outfield seating and no outfield terrace. And the terraced steps outside left field looks like an awful waste of space. I do think the concourse outside of centerfield could be really cool with restaurants etc, especially if they can get a permit to enclose the area and make it open container.
  2. Found the one page I was thinking of, it's 9 years old now. I don't know who this person is but I liked some of the concepts. There's one that's literally just our current logo and unis with red trim that wouldn't be a huge departure. https://clumsytuba.wordpress.com/2015/04/22/white-sox-uniform-concept-updates/
  3. Does Camelback Ranch do dynamic pricing for Dodgers and/or Sox games? Because I can see them justifying $40 for a Dodgers team that people want to see. Really not sure how gate receipts work at that facility, would be interested if others have information on how that relationship works.
  4. Getting ahead of ourselves but it might be the next logical step: does a new stadium and a new ownership group also lead to logo rebranding? Remember, new Comiskey ushered in the current logo and colors we all love (pretty sure opening day of the new park was the first day in the new unis). Like many, I love our logo and don't really want a change. But there was a fan mockup a few years ago that added red as a tertiary color to the current setup that I really liked, mostly red piping or outlining. Wasn't a big change, just an upgrade to the existing stuff. I wouldn't be surprised to see a change to our logo to really overhaul the image and perception for the organization to go along with a shiny new facility and ownership.
  5. I enjoy seeing that their fanbase is similarly unenthused about Merrifield. Kindred spirits.
  6. The bolded part for me. I get that he's an employee and needs to respect his employer (and other employees ie players), but I at least want the appearance of independent thought and willingness to call things what they are. You can do your job well, respect who writes your paychecks, and still have the ability to say it out loud how the fan sees it.
  7. Looks like this is his first real announcing job aside from minor stuff like covid KBO games. Benetti didn't have *much more* experience when he came in but did have the minor league background. None of the finalists excited me, but I know the least about this guy so that means the most room to grow. Hopefully it works out and this guy is worth a shot.
  8. When it comes down to it, they're probably going with the highest bidder, regardless of local ties or not. Ultimately it's a business decision.
  9. For all we say about ex-Royals, think about what Braves fans are saying about us right now. Bummer trade, Reynaldo Lopez signing, Leury, now Yolbert, must be missing another one
  10. Not misspelled but Chicago'd - Roberts.
  11. Boooooooooo *inhales* -oooooooooo, Connor. Anyone but Connor. Guy is a wet blanket, so uninspiring as an announcer.
  12. Coming from someone living in Boston, the entire city is built on fill. Fenway Park is in the Back Bay neighborhood - because that area was literally the back of the bay, underwater. The entire commercial district of Boston used to be water. This is achievable.
  13. Return of the mac! I'm excited for any trimmings of insight he tosses us animals.
  14. That water taxi quote sounds interesting too. This really sounds like a fun location for a park. Now I'm going to be devastated when it comes out years later that this could have been something really cool that we miss our on a la the Camden Yards design.
  15. Read that as Scott Barlow and laughed at yet another Royal. Realized my mistake and that it was Joe Barlow, retracted my laugh, then saw he *also* pitched for the Royals, repeat. I have nothing else to contribute.
  16. Yankees can have him. Putting aside the sexual assault allegations (and that's a BIG aside), this team is trying to address the culture issues before we can contend. Why would we bring in a veteran with a history of being a "clubhouse distraction" in the best of terms, and a "me-first" immature dickhead in layman's terms.
  17. Really hoping the team wears the vest for a game or series as well.
  18. Reading between the lines, that sounds like the Yankees have the pieces that match what you suggest.
  19. Might be based on a quote from the Rogers article - "Though Jackson Holliday is almost certainly off the table -- a new GM can dream, can't he? -- the teams might line up if corner infielder Coby Mayo can make his way into the deal."
  20. Might be a double post but this article from Jesse Rogers this morning presents a different look inside the process that I haven't seen yet. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39272529/mlb-free-agency-dylan-cease-white-sox-trade-rumors-fits-2023-2024 Two quotes that stand out: "According to rivals who have negotiated with Chicago, Getz has been deliberate and straightforward in his new role so there's no reason to expect he will rush what would immediately become his signature move as White Sox general manager. ... Getz's no-nonsense style of negotiating has also led to a clear picture of what kind of package it will take to get a deal done, according to teams that have engaged in talks with the White Sox this offseason: Multiple high-end prospects (one won't be enough) and some "fill-ins." "During negotiations and after completing a five-for-one deal for reliever Aaron Bummer, the Braves spoke to the White Sox about Cease, according to league sources. Chicago is in need of middle infielders, and second baseman Vaughn Grissom was on the table. But Getz stuck to his asking price and Atlanta couldn't offer the multiple high-end prospects needed to complete a trade. (The Braves pivoted by acquiring Chris Sale from the Boston Red Sox for Grissom.)"
