  1. I'm not gonna lie, this makes me selfishly happy for the schadenfreude of it. New England is the only part of the country that doesn't get WGN America so every argument I have with friends about anything unrelated is always ended with "but we have WGN". Though I guess it hasn't affected me that much anyway because it forced me to pick up MLB.tv and I've never looked back.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) I say option D, which is acquiring another corner outfielder. Doesn't have to even be someone that currently starts. All I know is that Garcia and Danks aren't logical replacements. I heard Jeff Keppinger has 5 career games played in the outfield.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ May 20, 2014 -> 12:19 PM) Is she still dating Middlebrooks? No, he's dating Jenny Dell. She used to be a field reporter for the Red Sox and NESN but they deemed the relationship inappropriate so she was effectively fired. That bastard just cost me the only reason worth watching Red Sox games.
  4. I just saw a free advance screening for Brick Mansions, the 'action' flick starring Paul Walker. I knew it was going to be ridiculous and it did not disappoint. Definitely one of those awesomely-bad movies. Like, it was terrible, but highly entertaining. The director and cinematographer definitely watched The Raid: Redemption on repeat before filming the first few action scenes (the first fight for both of the leads, respectively). I also feel like if you've seen The Rock more than twice, you'll hear a number of common lines. The movie was bad, but it was fun-bad. Rza is entertaining, and it was quite fun to see David Belle reprise his role from the French Version "District B13". Plus, Paul Walker at his Paul Walker-est. And for those that haven't used it, check out GetScreening.com or follow them on Twitter. They give away free tickets to advance screeners meant for the press (they just fill the empty seats in the theater). I've seen a bunch of movies for free before they come on doing this, though it helps to be downtown in a major city.
  5. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 10:17 PM) Was it just me or did Rios catch it from the bounce off the facade and make some sort of signal indicating like he'd caught it on the fly?
  6. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 08:05 PM) That would be cool. - Bill Veeck
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 10:57 PM) The replays they showed on the Sox feed sucked. I don't think they got a shot at the right angle where you can see Napoli's glove and his foot in the same frame. https://twitter.com/MassholeSports/status/4...0693377/photo/1
  8. I don't know if the CSN feed was focusing on it, but NESN can't get their cameras off of Pedroia. Looks like he might be batting in the 9th, coming back from injury.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 09:38 AM) Am I the only one on the planet that has not seen, or have any interest in seeing, any of these comic book movies (sans the Nolan Batman series)? I feel like I am. I'm with you. I keep scrolling through pages of DC this or Marvel that. Not interested. I'm just waiting for someone to talk about The Raid 2. Who's excited? I'm excited.
  10. Olney is reporting that many within the Phillies organization believe they need to trade Rollins immediately. Not sure how that would play with the Tigers but it adds another option out there.
  11. I'll be at the game at BU. Agganis is a nice arena (though I've only seen hockey games there). 5th row, center court for $18. Oh, and they were somehow grandfathered in to sell beer. I-L-L.
  12. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 11:58 PM) http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/6479266/v3149...-in-the-seventh Man, Christian Yelich smoked that ball.
  13. Interesting Heyman article on Robin's extension. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-he...his-contract-is Some things that stood out to me:
  14. Using my drunk Friday night in to make a team name and logo for my fantasy baseball team. My league is all cubs fans and I live in Boston. I HATE Red Sox fans but troll my cub friends by throwing Boston out there any chance I get, making fun of the WS drought that turned into a "dynasty" [shudder], etc. I can't overstate how awful Boston fans are, seriously. As such, I was looking for a team/logo that makes fun of both the cubs and Red Sox. Starting with the basic "Cubs Suck, Red Sox Swallow" as a team name with an image of various Red Sox players in the locker room with the champagne and all, and superimposed the Brazzers logo over the pictures. (I also lack the know-how to put the Brazzers static logo on this gif but it would be awesome. Any help with that?) http://usatthebiglead.files.wordpress.com/...=231&crop=1 Does anyone have a better team name for this? Doesn't have to be anti-cubs necessarily, more focused on the Red Sox gobbling Richards. Cheers!
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 11:24 PM) He's doing it to communicate with the media and teammates (but mainly media, don't ask me why) I think it 's a positive note that he wants to be able to communicate with the media. The media basically controls his image to the fans, and the fact that he wants to be part of that makes me think that he wants to be fan-friendly, or at least approachable. The White Sox need players that are approachable and "everyday kind of guys" so people can relate to them and buy into something (if we aren't winning). Something to make young fans and families enjoy the team we have. I'm all for it.
  16. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) I hate these blowhard media cocksuckers who want to tell everyone how to think and act, and never shut up about it, kind of like posters here ATM who refuse to give Ervin Santana his just due. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) I also would like to quote this post as both groundbreaking and historic in it's own sense, as you will find at least two terms in here which are not covered by the language filter (nor should they be) which can be used freely by all and should be used freely by all unless they are used in a manner which I would disagree with. Must have slipped through the filter.
  17. I don't see an alcohol thread started so I'll just add this here. Anyone in here a whiskey drinker? Like, good whiskey? Yesterday I went to a whiskey tasting in Cambridge, MA and had my mind blown. I had looked at the list before going (there were something like 90 varieties to try) and I saw this place Koval from Chicago, figured I would give them the cursory attempt. Turns it's amazing. Like, truly great. For reference, my previous favorites are things like Blanton's, Eagle Rare, and Bulleit. I tried Koval's bourbon, oat, rye, 4 grains, and white rye. There were a bunch of other $60 whiskeys at the tasting, and Koval had 3 of my top 5 I tried all day. It runs about $50 a bottle but totally worth it. I checked out their twitter account and it sounds like they do tastings around downtown Chicago pretty frequently, if you want to try it out before dropping $50. I seriously suggest anyone who enjoys a whiskey to check it out. Great stuff. And after reading through everything I just said, no this is not a paid advertisement haha. I just really love bourbon, and this brand I had never previously heard of has pretty much ruined a lot of other bourbons for me now (and has turned me to rye as well).
  18. Remember when Manny Ramirez was on the White Sox?
  19. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) Will Carroll recently tweeted that three of his credible sources have Peavy going to three different teams. I'd post the tweet but I'm at the Nats game. Well played Rick.
  20. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:59 PM) Need a PTBNL with that Hawk Harrelson. Legends never die.
  21. I worked on an investigation into a state drug lab (the kind of lab where the state police send confiscated drug samples to be tested to build a case for conviction) that has f***ed up majorly. While inventorying the lab, I opened a cabinet to find multiple 30-gallon garbage bags full of weed and mushrooms. It was like the beginning of Half Baked.
  22. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Mar 1, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) Go to a Cubs game and convince one of their fans that it's the jersey of some up-and-coming prospect in the minors and sell it for $100. Winner. End of day - peace out, D Lee.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 1, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) Ha, well done. Why do I feel like I just got dunked on?
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 1, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) All of the hardcore Rays fans use this website Rays Fan Forum Awesome, thanks!
  25. Does anyone have a list of other team sites like Soxtalk? I'm specifically looking for a good one for the Rays, thanks.
