It sounds like Joe Frazier is about to go as well. Dreading all of those 'witty' "down goes Frazier" puns on twitter and facebook. Book it.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 1, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Not at all. Your friend is full of s***. The only thing that was even remotely creepy was the fog that'd envelop the place on occasion. It's on a hill, so that was very Silent Hill-y. I was lucky enough to see it a few times in the fog, looks really neat. I had no idea it was even an asylum before, it looked so nice. And then I stumble upon this a couple days ago, shocker. I haven't seen it yet but I'm definitely checking it out this week.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 1, 2011 -> 10:20 AM) I lived there for a year. And yes, it's a good movie. Get out, you lived in that building for a year? I myself don't believe in anything like ghosts but my friend that lives there does; she's mentioned seeing some things. Any experience with that?

Has anyone seen/heard of this movie Session 9 from a few years back? I was looking around and some horror movie lists and it popped up as one of the top 5 scariest. I watched a preview of it and was stunned to see that I just stayed the weekend at that insane asylum a couple weeks ago. Apparently it's filmed at the old asylum in Danvers, MA just outside of Boston; it's since been converted into luxury apartments/condos. The movie itself looks super creepy and I think it would be doubly so knowing that I've already walked around the premises.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 09:17 AM) That reminds me, did you hear the one about the Jew, the Gay, and the Nazi? Funny, that's how I end my resume.

Esquire has some brief reviews on the films currently showing at the Toronto Film Festival. Most every page in there has the trailer imbedded (also, how do I embed youtube clips on here?) Having read nothing about it, the trailer for 'The Raid' looks pretty crazy.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) When I re-actived NFL RedZone, I also got some other freebies. Included in this was Starz. I just watched a movie on demand called "What Doesn't Kill You", starring Ethan Hawke and Mark Ruffalo. I'd never heard of it, and was quite surprised with how good it was. There were some plot holes, but overall an enjoyable South Boston con-man story. Huh, I just moved to Boston a couple days ago and I've been on a Boston-movie kick. Looks like I'll be checking this one out sometime soon.

QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:21 AM) My next section is on grammar and I've heard so many people say they hated learning grammar in school. What sucked and what did you like? My students are surprised when I tell them I disliked "English" class when I was in middle school. Grammar was what I really disliked. Endless diagramming of sentences for no apparent reason. I've downloaded purchased all of the Grammar Rocks videos. Now I'm brainstorming some other lesson ideas. Bring a bamboo cane to class as a reminder to use their "your"s, "there"s, and "where"s correctly. Or else...

I'm heading out to the game tonight, first game back to Chicago since the Halfway to St. Pat's game from last year. I'm on an 0-4 skid (including two in the Kansas City series, one of which was the WP in extras loss) hoping to break my slide. If I don't, I'm moving to Boston in a few days anyway so maybe I'll hit them with my curse. -
I know this is pretty much the opposite of what this thread is about but ..... I JUST QUIT MY JOB. Boom, so happy about it. I was accepted into grad school a short time ago (Northeastern Univ. in Boston). Sooo excited to get out of Missouri and up to Boston. This makes the 10th time I've moved in the last 2 years (political campaigns) but this one should be a long-term move. I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity. Plus the campus is like 5 blocks from Fenway so I can enjoy some baseball while I'm at it.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) It didn't do too much to cover up the mooning smiley. Balls. Didn't realize that the smileys aren't concealed. Probably should have checked preview post.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) I agree with you. I watched it in college and thought it was pretty bad actually. I saw it for a film study class in college for the first time and I had the same reaction. I went back a few months later and watched it and I was definitely impressed. Having said that, I'm not excited that it's getting remade; let it be.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) Thanks, Steve. I just spend like 3 hours reading all of those "I can't believe it's not photoshopped" lists. Three hours, eh? And I'm off...

Flowers, Lillibridge and De Aza helping the Sox win
MiddleCoastBias replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think we'll ever see a lineup with both AJ and Flowers in it because we would have no emergency catcher. -
Welp, I see no one has spoken their reason why Sale should stay in the pen yet (I was the first to vote pen earlier today) so I guess I'll air my reasoning. I love Sale's stuff and I think he can (and possibly will) be an awesome starter. The reason I said he should stay in the pen is because of his frame and delivery and risk of injury. My fear is that he is going to be at risk for a career worth of injury with his small frame and long limbs whipping with his delivery. And now that he's conditioned to come out of the pen, I think he'll be at an even greater risk of injury as we stretch him out, no matter how slowly we move with him. We can't afford to waste a young arm like this by having him injured often as his innings pile up. This may just be an irrational fear from my youth that that we're going to break our toy but I am very content with him in his current role. Can anyone allay my fears on this? PTatc?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) I don't know if Cowardly works here, as he actually stepped up to the plate attempting to back up his words. I will give him credit, he likes to talk s***, but he didn't just run & hide in this case. True. I have been curious to see what it would be like to stand in on a fast-pitch softball pitcher. I know it probably isn't fair to make fun of a grown man but Cowley's mechanics make me wonder if he ever played baseball as a kid, though that's not to say that I would or wouldn't do better than him.

Link to video of Cowardly being struck out by a girl. I will say that I'm glad Cowley accepted this challenge, though I think his tweets in the last few days were pretty denigrating and defeated the purpose.
