  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) Just buy the app. It's $10. It's one million percent worth it. Welp, I went for it. Thanks for the help, guys.
  2. Does anyone know of an app for the Droid that I can listen to the game? I have an mlb.tv account but I don't want to spend the additional $10 to be able to use that on my phone (I don't really need the video, just the radio feed as I want it for when I'm driving). Any input?
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) I'd support a bit of a youth movement. If done right, it could be great for the franchise. "The Kids Can Play... Again."
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) Like Verlander is a tough righty and they want to keep Morel's attitude up? Its 50/50 Morel plays against Verlander, not sure that I agree with sitting him, but its not out of the realm of possibilities. I thought Morel was actually far better against righties this year?
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) I still don't know what it is supposed to accomplish. Like Adam Dunn doesn't realize he sucks right now? But booing him all of the sudden he is going to go, "Damn, I didn't realize I was hitting .160, maybe I should quit striking out! Thanks for booing me, because I had no idea! It's not like that. When you're at work and you acknowledge you screwed something up and take responsibility, how does it feel when EVERYONE comes up and reminds you how you messed up? After the first few you can brush it off and be like "Yea, I know". But after a while it's like "f*** it, I know I f***ed up, get off it."
  6. It sounds like the crowd is booing Adam mid-AB on both strikes he took. I don't boo him myself but I understand why many people do after he gets out. But booing mid-AB is just beyond ridiculous. That's hating just to hate. I know the whole "he's a big-leaguer, he should be stronger than being affected by the crowd" but this is getting ridiculous. Let the guy play - he's here for the long haul so why go out of your way to boo him?
  7. NASCAR pre-race prayer Racing - heeeYAAAAHHH!!!
  8. Good news, everybody! Below is making his second career start so we should be fine, right?!
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) So Captain America was pretty awesome. Also rented "Limitless", and that rocked. I watched Limitless the other night as well. I thought the concept was awesome. I loved the movie up until Overall, I walked away really enjoying this movie and did recommend it to a friend.
  10. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Thought you all would be interested, an awesome new sports stat website just opened. The company is a NC based start-up called StatSheet, www.statsheet.com and they do some real interesting stuff. They've been focused on college sports the past few years, but have now branched out to MLB as well. Each team actually has an unique URL. The White Sox is http://chisoxdaily.com/ Look forward to hearing some feedback! I think it would be interesting to see how those that made their rankings of every player at the ASB to compare their rankings with this site's rankings. Looks like some neat stuff here.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) Droopy and Christopher Walken made me LOL. For sure. Paul Giamatti was good; I don't think I've heard anyone give an impression of him before but he has a distinct delivery that lends itself to impressions.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) This guy is pretty solid. I honestly can't even pick which was my favorite; each was better than the last.
  13. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) They will outhit us-just no sense of confidence anymore. Hard to get out-hit when my boy G is throwing a no-hitter tonight....! (Please...?)
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:33 AM) I heard it... I loved it... and I love that this team's management is falling apart. I reckon Coop is sick of watching no runs being scored as much as the rest of us. For sure. He's got his crew of guys to look out for (our pitchers). When he sees Danks go out and throw 7 scoreless and get a no-decision it has really got to be frustrating for him. He's doing everything on his end to get this team some wins and our hitters continue to let the pitching down (think about Danks' 0-8 start with 6 QSs).
  15. Heading back out to this one. Look for me 11 rows up behind home plate, slightly towards the Sox dugout, in my Danks jersey. $15 for the ticket on StubHub (though I had to pay the $10 processing/printing fee).
  16. I'm pretty excited that I get to be at the game when Flowers makes his first start. Hopefully he does something with it.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) The player would also have to want to play there. I don't see MB having any desire to do that. Agreed. While I don't know the man personally, he doesn't seem to be the type that would want to be in Boston or NYC. I don't know if anyone saw that episode of Dogs 101 on Animal Planet a while back but he looked truly happy out on his expanse of quiet property.
  18. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) Maybe it's because I know how horrible the life is there, but I think the pictures of Pyongyang look creepy as Hell. Where are all the f***ing people?!? It seems like every picture, except for the ones of the Subways which are oddly the nicest I've ever seen, are completely desolate. I've seen pictures of highways, and monuments, and palaces, and temples, and just random streets on nice, sunny days, where there simply aren't any people. Any place in the west, such areas of town would be full of people frolicking in the sun and enjoying life. But not there (and there are 3 million people who supposedly live there). And then you've got the unfinished Ryugyong Hotel looming over the city, seemingly reminding everyone what a crappy system they live under. I don't know what you thought that city looked like, but it's sort of as I expected. North Korea is different from say, Afghanistan, where they don't pave the roads, and they can't seem to build the buildings straight, and the people look obviously dirty and poor. North Korea seemingly tries to put on a semblance of normalcy, yet fails. It's not a dangerous place as far as I know. In fact, follow the rules and you're sure to be OK. It's more just an extreme version of Big Brother/1984. And try not to blue falcon (lostfan will know what this means) your obligatory guide. The Vice Guide did a great documentary on the two guys getting a 'tour' of North Korea. Vice Guide to North Korea Probably the best 'behind the scenes' view of North Korea I've seen. They are effectively in what the Jurassic Park theme park (in the movie) was supposed to be- they're "in the wild" but really just being shown things that the North Koreans want them to see. The bit towards the end about them driving down the highway and stopping at the rest stop was crazy. Definitely worth watching.
  19. "So say poor Toby, I say poor us."
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) Bring him back until he doesn't want to come back... you can do worse for a 3rd/4th starter. So true. I don't want to be in a position where we sit there and say "great, the back of the rotation is a sure loss".
  21. I'll be heading out to this one tonight, making the 5 hour round-trip to catch the boys play. (I decided not to go to the game last night with Buehrle on the clock.) First time at Kauffman, should be exciting. $36 for third row behind the Sox dugout, nice. Let's get it done, Peavy!
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Oh, forgot Santos can't get the save here. This is just weird. Why take the save away from Matt? And then have Santos face a lefty? The Royals' announcers were just trying to explain this. What's the case, why is there no save awarded?
  23. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Attaboy, Slappy! 10 game hitting streak? Nice! QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) Atta boy, Jean Pierre. 10 game hitting streak. You're in my brain?!
