  1. Get him some ABs in Wrigley. .282/.410/.651/1.061 in 241 ABs.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) I've never seen any of the Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th or Halloween movies I watched all the Nightmare on Elm St. movies when I was a kid and found a box set of all of them at a used DVD store a few years ago. I never got around to watching all the Friday the 13th or Halloween movies although I'd seen about half of them. Just last year my middle daughter discovered Jason and Michael Myers so we went out and found all the movies and had a marathon of watching them over about a month.
  3. If we do TV shows that I've never seen or at least gotten into I could be here all day. My list of TV shows that I watch/like would be shorter.
  4. QUOTE (Nunnigan @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) No one mentioned Twilight? I guess you guys must be fans Twilight Citizen Kane Alien (saw Aliens and Resurrection) All Potter movies Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions Psycho I've actually seen the Twilight movies because my wife likes them. Then my kids won the books in some contest at the local library, so I read them. I needed something to read during lunch at work. My list is similar to the ones already posted. Citizen Kane Any Alien movies Predator (plus any sequels) All Potter movies (I think I saw parts of the first one) Godfather movies Goodfellows Blade Runner No Country for Old Men Pulp Fiction Scarface Fight Club (I watched the first half of it and got bored.) Any of the Pirates of the Carribean Avatar
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 08:31 AM) One of the more impressive post season chokes around. It almost compares to the last team that won 116 and then choked in the playoffs.
  6. What does CPOY stand for? EDIT: Nevermind. I got it.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) So I take it you're trying to say they tried to trade for him in ST rather than at the deadline without just making it easier and just saying that. Either way, if that's all you are going to take away from what I said then you missed the point. I've read this 3 times and I'm still not sure what you're getting at. Balta said: QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) The Yankees wouldn't give up Montero for Greinke last offseason. Greinke was traded to the Brewers in the offseason. Plus he's still under contract next year. Where are you getting this half-year rental from?
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) Maggs that is pretty damn impressive. I'm speechless. You should be GM. Click on the link to the actual original post...
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) And I bet lifestyle choice contributes to more than half of those cases, with some simple changes/choices, they'd fall off those charts. I'm not one to talk about "lifestyle" choice, because I tend to eat what I want, however, I also eat relatively healthy most of the time. It's about moderation, and sadly, no matter how much educational material exists, and no matter how much you put it on the minds of people, they'll do what they want to do anyway. The best and only true preventative care is NOT seeing a doctor, but making simple decisions of what you eat/drink and how much. I figured that most of it would be from people with long-term or incurable things like cancer or something like that.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) I don't typically go for black girls. But the main character from True Jackson, VP and her Asian sidekick catch my fancy. I think both are 18. That's the criteria for me. Long as I can't go to jail, I'm game. They are 18 now, but they were under 18 when they actually taped the show. Does that make a difference?
  11. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) Why does this remind me of the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality that has pussified sports? I doubt the players take winning this trophy all that seriously. And I know for a fact that receiving a participation trophy isn't nearly as fun or good as receiving a first place trophy.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) I'm listening to Cowley on the score and he basically just called Gavin Floyd stupid (said he needs a lot of help to do cross-word puzzles, if he couldn't pitch, he'd be taking orders at Windy's). That's probably true of a lot of professional athletes. Their ability to throw/hit/catch/kick a ball pretty much set them for life.
  13. I can't really rank the Pixar movies either. I really like all of them. I have yet to see Up and I tried to watch Ratatouille once but I fell asleep.
  14. 2007 was when the Cubs fans got really started to get ramped up because it was coming up to the century mark of their WS drought and nobody wanted to see it go to triple digits. Everyone was sure that it was "their year". Then they got swept in the playoffs. 2008 was the century mark and again everyone was sure that it was "their year" Then they got swept in the playoffs. They've been sliding backwards ever since and Cubs fans are finally starting to realize that it's not all that lovable to be a loser.
  15. If somebody was willing to give me $11,000 for a piece of paper I would sell it in an instant. Especially if I need the money to keep a roof over my head and food on the table. Whether I am black, white, orange, purple, etc... shouldn't really matter.

    Pools

We've been thinking about getting a pool like this: They are around $200 at Target, Wal-mart or Toys R us. I'm just wondering how sturdy they are and if I have to worry about my dog putting a hole in the side of it with her claws when she's in the backyard.
  17. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 09:01 AM) Do people realize the same White Sox organization has averaged 84 wins per season over the past 21 years, and 86 wins under the KW/OG regime? We're basically tied fourth in total wins since 1990 in the AL, behind New York, Boston and Oakland (Cleveland is about even with us, slightly ahead for now). During the OG era, I think we're 5th overall. During the past three "disappointing" years, we've averaged a "disappointing" 85 wins. Sadly, the ALC winners have averaged 92 wins since 1996. The Sox are usually just good enough to finish in second.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 01:10 PM) I'd say it's more likely that MLB does away with the DH than the NL goes to it. It would put too many players out of jobs. I don't know what the average DH makes but I doubt teams will want to keep them around for the same price to be a back-up which is essentially what they would turn into.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 09:09 AM) Apparently there are tickets available for all three Cubs/Sox games at USCF. Wow. It's not like either team is drawing that well individually and they are weeknight games.
  20. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) There is no Keery Wood or Sammy Soas to hang the flag on. the media is not goign ot cover the nice castro story as he does not hae the wow factor. The cubs are trending down and the attendance is suffering. Another series like last year could go a long way for the White Sox. Also they have lost 8 straight playoff games. 6 in back-to-back years. People got their hopes way, way up when the 100-year anniversary came around. Then the whole "Year 1" thing. The Cubs have simply failed to deliver and the fans are finally getting tired of it.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) as using the quote feature takes unnecessary time and is annoying when you have to quote multiple people in the same post. Actually it's really, really easy. Especially when quoting multiple posters. Just click "quote" button for each post as you read them and scroll down. Then click "reply" at the bottom.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) I don't know where else to post this, but I find it to be a disturbing indictment of our current culture... So, there is this huge wildfire burning in Arizona. Its a monster fire, burned like 400,000 acres so far, and keeps going. Approaching some towns now. CNN interviews a resident of one of the towns and his family, who are packing up a couple pickup trucks with everything they can fit to leave. Not everything fits of course. Their choices? --X-Box makes the cut, same with the dog --What doesn't make the cut and stays to burn: family photos, and the cat So... the X-box, easily replaceable, can go... but the irreplaceable family photos, and the LIVING THING, are left to burn? Seriously? WTF is wrong with people? Article FWIW, cats are far more independent and self-reliant when left on their own compared to dogs.
