  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) ps. Saying Loriano instead of Liriano, indicating you think he is a she, is a bannable offense? Spawn is a little b**** It started way back when some people referred to Jon Garland as Judy Garland. They take their message board way too seriously.
  2. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) I have to vent and this seems like the best place. I'm sure some of you know of whitesoxinteractive.com aka flyingsock.com. That place in run by Satan himself. I just got banned from there again. The mods are insane, you can't talk about anything without having them jump on your back. And every mod thinks they are better than you, know more than you, and think their opinion is right and yours is always wrong. Seriously, I despise that place. Prime example: http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbullet...2975&page=9 So I just have to say f*** you to that place, and I'm sorry if I broke any rules about this board with this post, I just had to get it off my chest. Here is to hoping that board falls apart I have to imagine their list of banned members nearly matches their list of active members.
  3. Maybe it's just the way I read it then. A different history as in some bizarro world where we never gained independence from England and the South actually won the civil war. I guess the only way history could be different is when people explain why something happened or tell it from a different POV.
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) I am conflicted on this. I think everyone agrees something has to be taught. But should someone in my class learn something different than a student in the classroom across the hall? Should kids in San Antonio learn a different history than a kid in Houston or Bloomington? Why should I, or any classroom teacher, decide what is taught? The problem becomes when a state mandates a minimum number of things that should be covered. Let's say it should occupy 50% of the time, allowing Districts and teachers the opportunity to fill in the rest as they see fit. While that sounds like a nice compromise, what ends up happening is the 50% is taught then the rest of the time is spent reviewing to make certain the kids perform on the test or else schools start losing funding. Taxpayers want the type of accountability that can only happen with test results. Different history? Is that even possible? I'm pretty sure what happened is what happened. Maybe some kids learn different parts of history. I know we never made it much more than halfway through the book in any history class I took. I think the good teachers have the ablity to teach the kids what they need to know to pass the tests plus throw in some "extra" stuff as well. Especially as they get into the higher grades and start taking different electives, the standardized testing is more difficult.
  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Could MLB change the rules to not allow teams to make a profit if they haven't fully spent the revenue shared with them? But will we ever know when they make a profit? This is from one of the links above:
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) At least for news articles, it depends on how much of the text you post. Posting a whole article is a no-no, but posting a couple of paragraphs and a link is ok. It was a post by a member.
  7. So apparently copy/pasting text from one website to another = stealing. If anything I figured it was copyright infringement. But since I gave credit to the website and author, I didn't think it was a problem. Obviously it's enough for a permenant ban. Calling the webmaster's wife a "c***" is over-looked though.

    Slaves?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) I'm on salary. This is my week... Monday - Wednesday : Wake up at 6am @work by 7am, leave work at 3pm, at home by ~3:35pm. Thursday : Work from home day. Friday - Same as Monday-Wednesday. That used to be my schedule but with a slightly longer commute. Now I have an even longer commute with no work from home days. But I've been salary for the past 12 years with no overtime except an occasional week of being on-call. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) I'm a salaried individual. Unless I have a big-time project due, you can call me "tail lights" come 5pm. Yep.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Well please do tell us what it is! Because now I'm curious. Google "White Sox message board" and you'll find it a few pages in. It doesn't have many members but I know of at least one other person here that is a member.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) They got on you for posting on SoxTalk? That's odd, some of the Mods and Admins here are members over there too. I post over there occasionally. No, there's another board that they don't want any of their members to know about.
  11. Bumping an old thread but I guess I'll be more of a regular member over here. Apparently they don't like people posting on more than one White Sox message board over there.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 08:37 AM) I mean... I keep getting older, and they stay the same age
  13. "I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope."
  14. Little Giants: Chicken little flee flicker on go. what's that? A pitch to Johnny. Pitch to Johnny, you can't pitch to Johnny, I'm Johnny!! (gives ball to Johnny) Now what? Run to him. (points at Johnny's dad at the end of the field)
  15. Do they still teach cursive in school anymore? I don't remember the last time I wrote anything in cursive other than signing my name on something. I think I saw one in my parent's basement but I've never actually used one. I guess the first computer I ever touched was a Commodore 64 but that was just to play games on. The Apple IIe is the first computer I ever used in school. I actually had to google this because I don't remember it. I'd argue that they first met Michelangelo when he was a teenage mutant ninja turtle. Was there something else he did before he was a rapper?
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) Oh s***, how about the leg breaking scene in Misery. In the book she used an ax and a blowtorch.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) So, the 2nd kid not only costs more than the first, it also very conveniently decides to cost the exact amount required to bring the total to exactly $600k? Man, those 2nd kids must be really good at math. I don't trust those figues. Those costs have to include stuff like baby furniture, bottles, strollers, clothes, diaper bags, etc... All stuff that can be used/passed on to the second child.
  18. Pet Semetary where 3-year-old Gage gets hit by the truck and all they show is a bloody shoe rolling across the road. Then at the end of the movie where the father had to stick him with a needle to "kill" him again. As a parent, these were especially disturbing, although the desriptions in the book were much worse.
  19. So that's a minimum of $17 billion they are giving away. I could use a couple thousand to pay off a few bills.
  20. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) the last few times ive had to go to the DMV, its been smooth sailing. I was always able to go to the DMV in Oregon, IL. It's just a small little town so the DMV was always empty when I went. No lines!
  21. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) My son and daughter are asking for Pierzynski jerseys for their birthdays. Does anyone know where I can find some that aren't outrageously expensive? I found some Sox gear at Kohl's for between $20 - $35. Got my daughter a Quentin jersey shirt and some shorts.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) This past weekend I went out with a stripper (ok, you're probably thinking WTF there must be a long story involved - the answer is yes, there is) and she introduces me to a friend at the bar, also a stripper but both dressed normally since they weren't at work. Stripper #2 is really friendly. Stripper #1 leans over to me and says "yeah, she is really cool and a sweetheart, but don't drink anything after her." lol. Don't gotta tell me twice. She texts me at the table and says rumor has it she has HIV. I know you can't really get HIV from drinking out of the same cup as someone (at least I'm pretty sure that's how I remember), but still... yeesh. You can get cold sores though.
  23. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) As others have noted...it's pretty simple to do it yourself. With that said...When I bought my last battery at Walmart, I saw a sign that they have free installation. It would save you a trip too, cause you have to turn your battery in to get the extra money off. You can always return the old one the next day. FWIW, it's an easy job depending on WHERE the battery is located. I just changed mine a couple of weeks ago and had to remove a stabalizing bar (I think that's what it was) and move a fuse box out of the way. My friend has a car with the battery located underneath the windshield washer fluid container. With my suburban I can just crawl inside with the engine and do the work. There's tons of space under there.
  24. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) I think your numbers are a bit inflated. You don't have to cook one ingredient at a time, things like a pot of simmering water don't require constant attention, you can accomplish other things while they're cooking, you don't have to run the dishwasher every night unless you're a huge family or have very few dishes, etc. Yeah, it can take SOME work, but I think there's a lot of excuse-making too. If one can spare 15 minutes to drive to McDonalds and wait in the drive-through for a breakfast meal, they've got the time to pour a bowl of cereal and peel a banana. But cereal is far more difficult to eat on the way to school/practice/etc...
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) Not at all. Passenger in the truck, right? I'd assume he was probably looking at the man yelling and then shooting at him, that only makes sense. Besides, even if he's facing forward, still can get shot in the face. You'd need a medical examiner to give you more information as to the trajectory of the bullet. It would also match with the guy saying he was almost run over. Just a guess though.
