  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) Me too. It is also the biggest TV that will fit into our entertainment center/kid's crap holder. We actually got the TV we have now 5 or 6 years ago when we bought a new entertainment center. We've since switched to a corner TV stand that it just sits on top of. Now with all the space around it, the TV actually looks pretty small. One of these days if we get a newer TV, we may even upgrade from basic cable...
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) 32 inch? What is this? 2006? Absurd! A 32 inch TV would be an upgrade for me.
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) Seriously, nobody...My Girl? Thomas J cant see without his glasses Yep. Forgot about that one.
  4. This scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCildVCn2No Also in Pet Semetary when the little kid dies. No parent should ever witness their 3-year-old getting run over by an 18-wheeler.
  5. We have one account and my wife takes care of making sure the bills get paid on time. After the bills are paid, we have no money left until our next payday so there's nothing to fight over. Works out pretty well...
  6. QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) I know HIMYM is popular around here but am I the only one here that finds "Big Bang Theory" right before it is quite often laugh out loud funny? IMO Mondays rule. I go from Big Band Theory, to HIMYM to Heroes to My Own Worst Enemy. Wednesdays are good because I've got Southpark and then the rerun of Sons of Anarchy.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/vid...ckstage/773862/ That was funnier than the original skit.
  8. The only part where I really laughed was the first time Butters shot the guy and Cartman scolded him. "You shot him in the dick!?!" After that it started getting a little old. The rest of the episode was meh... Definitely not their best work.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) You would.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) The Space Olympics and Extreme Challenge were both hilarious this year. I watched those and the Donkey Bunch thing and didn't laugh at any of them. I liked SNL better back in the Sandler/Farley/Spade days...
  11. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) The Cubs took over the town in 1984 when the Cubs attendance went on an upward trajectory that has lasted ever since. It's largely due to the Cub lovable loser / Harry Caray drinking at a day game vibe that was cemented that season. At the time at Old Comiskey, it was a place where young folks went to drink and get into fights. As a child that was my impression and, quite frankly, the Cubs lured in some of my south suburban friends with it. Bottom line - the Cubs were sold as a product while the Sox were trying to sell themselves as a baseball team during the 80's. They were playing different marketing games and the Cubs won, hands down. Actually, it was a culmination of a number of different things. The Tribune had just bought the Cubs. People could watch the Cubs for free on WGN while the Sox were on Sportsvision which you had to pay for. And of course, Harry leaving the Sox for the Cubs.
  12. QUOTE (moneyman6544 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) two guys I work with just said that they give up on the Cubs and will probably be looking for another Chicago team to cheer on next year. A friend of mine who's been a Cubs fan for 25 years said the same thing to me yesterday. He said he packed up all his Cubs memorabila and stuck it in a box. He said this one time before and it didn't last so we'll see how this goes.
  13. At our high school they have a pre-school program where the kids in Home Ec. get to teach the pre-schoolers and get class credit for it. My wife did this her sophmore year. Just the other day we picked up the paper and saw one of the kids that she taught on the front page. He's now a Senior and will graduate next year.
  14. The day we bought a mini-van because we had three kids and I got excited.
  15. QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) It would be just fine if the immediate family was less than 36 people and the weather forecast didn't include a chance of snow. I thought it was bad when we had 13 people at our kids parties just from immediate family.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) If price wasn't a factor, what are the advantages? I don't have much experience personally but I've read that PC's are much easier to upgrade. With a Mac, you have to find an Apple Store. I've also heard that if you have any software that only runs on Windows, you have install Windows on the Mac to run it. Even then, it doesn't run as well.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) I've been really considering getting a mac and for some reason can only finds arguments for Macintosh. So what are the key advantages for PCs? I always hear compatibility issues, but since now Macs now come with the ability to run both platforms, that isn't necessarily viable any longer. You can still buy a brand new PC for under $1000.
  18. MTV is getting rid of the only show they had that actually played music videos? MTV hasn't stood for "Music" Television for years.
  19. QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) Wow bowling sure has gotten crazy popular over the past several years. That's what I keep hearing but I'm just not seeing it. My parents have been in a league since before I was born. They used to have 10-14 teams. Now my wife and I bowl with them and they've dwindled down to about 6 teams. When I was growing up I bowled every saturday and we filled up all 32 lanes. Last year I took my kids to the same alley and they literally had to combine all the kids into one league and they only filled up about half the lanes. There were 7-year-olds bowling against 17-year-olds. This year my youngest is bowling on Saturday mornings and we are seeing almost the same thing. They have two times 9:30 and 11:30 and they are talking about combining everyone into a 10:00 league. I think bowling is becoming more popular as something to go out with your friends and do on some random night but I don't think people are commiting to leagues as much as they used to.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) How the hell could you call a Pepsi a Coke? Never could understand that. We talked about this when I was still in school once. It's kinda the same as calling all tissues Kleenex or all bandages Band-Aid or all cotton swabs Q-tips. They are specifec product names but have gradually become used as the generic name for all.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) WSI ran into an issue where they banned numerous members. That seems to be a reoccurring theme lately.
  22. I've never been in a fight either. I've gotten hurt dorking around with my friends and I once tackled a kid on the pavement in grade school because he stole my hat but that's about it. The closest I guess I've come is one day when a group of us were playing football. I picked up the ball and tossed it at one of the guys and it smacked him in the face. The ball bounced right back at me and I did it again. I was honestly just trying to give him the ball. Smacking him in the face was totally unintentional but I thought it was funny and was laughing about it. Apparently this upset him because he started chasing me around. I was still laughing as he chased me and the only reason he caught up with me is because I stopped. Then he started jabbing punches at me and I was still laughing and blocking them. Finally one got through and popped me on the nose. He thought that was good enough and walked away saying that's what I deserved. I actually stopped and was in shock. It didn't hurt me at all but I finally realized he was seriously mad.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 07:37 AM) 3.79 is cheap... how sad is that? I remember paying under a dollar when I was in high school. I also remember the first time I had to pay over $2.00. Now I get excited when it's under $4.00
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) Why get a permanent site at some crowded campground, when you could buy a few hundred acres to have to yourself? Plus its an investment. The place we go to is never really crowded unless it's a holiday weekend. Sure we could buy a big plot of land and camp on it but that could get pretty boring. At least at a campground there are other people around and other kids for my kids to play with. There's a pool, a playground, a river, REAL bathrooms, a small store, etc...
