  1. Either my speakers or my sound card is bad. I haven't narrowed it down yet because I don't have another pair of speakers to try out. Basically any sound my computer makes comes out as static. I have to keep it on mute.
  2. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) I'm pretty sure it is, but it's still funny as hell. The "salesman" sounds like Dean, the Bob and Tom Show producer and the guy that does pretty much all the call in voices . . . the Mr. Obvious caller, the Japaneese tourist who freaks out when they say "Godzilla", etc. He's easily the most talented staffer on that show which I think is pretty full of talent. The guy has at least 2 CD's full of stuff like this. Many times you can tell it's certainly not fake. Especially when he found out that a hotel was having a telemarketers conference and kept calling their hotel rooms at 3 in the morning. The guy he kept calling was not happy at all...

    Drug Ads

QUOTE(mreye @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) Hell, listen to the side effects at the end of these commercials. Often they're worse than the condition they are treating... I like the ones that never tell you what the drug is actually for. They always just say, "ask your doctor if XXXXX is right for you".
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=ANE074722 ?? I ordered mine on 10/3. They've been raising the price gradually the past couple of weeks. It was $25 on 10/6.
  5. My daughter was running around on the concrete at her school one day before the morning bell rang. She tripped and fell and chipped her two front teeth on the concrete. Obviously we missed our chance to sue the school to retire young. What where they thinking putting a sidewalk at the school were kids could fall on it and get hurt? My point is that suing the school was never even a thougth that crossed our minds. How could any parent think of that? It was my daughter's fault for tripping over her own big feet. We took her to the dentist, he patched her up and everything is fine now. They're kids, kids get hurt while they are playing games and running around. Next we are going to be dressing them up in full body armor complete with helmets and facemasks. BTW, this isn't the first time I've heard of a school doing something like this...
  6. I got mine on Saturday. The total with free shipping was under $19 from Deepdiscountdvd.com Looks like you guys missed that price...

    New Sox fan

Are you trying to copy me? You got married exactly one day before me and now you have your third daughter 3 days after my 3rd daughter's 5th b-day? Kidding. But it is weird... Congrats!!!
  9. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Cuban's reasoning for not buying YouTube, and his criticism of any "moron" who chooses to do so, was based on the large amount of copyright infringements which are accessible on the site. He feels that anyone who buys YouTube, apparently Google, will actually be buying themselves an assload of legal proceedings. He stated that YouTube hadn't been sued yet because they didn't have any money, now Google's pockets are open to legal proceedings. Google has apparently thought about the copyright issues and, from what I read, plan on introducing software on the YouTube servers which will filter out copyrighted materials and make then unaccessible. Google is most definitely great at everything they touch, and I have little doubt that they will make YouTube great for users while omitting copyrighted videos. Although I don't have any numbers or anything to back up my opinion, it seems to me that a majority of people are watching music videos and television shows on the site. If you take away those components of the site, regardless of what Google does to jazz it up, will it sustain traffic levels remotely close to what the site sees today? Personally, I doubt it. This was Google's largest acquisition to date and I think it was a mistake. Google already has something that allows people to post/view videos don't they? I just watched the latest Southpark episode last Thursday. I'm pretty sure that's copyrighted material. I think half the videos on google or youtube have some sort of copyrighted content whether it's music or video or both...
  10. My wife watches those baby shows on TLC all the time and sometimes I'm amazed at the people they bring into the room. Not to mention the person holding the camera...
  11. Check out the Song "Cleveland Steamer" from Bob and Tom and you'll hear the names of more gross sexual acts than you ever knew existed. There's even a video on Youtube. The video itself is ok but you might want to turn the sound down at work...
  12. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) I can't remember where, or I would link it, but I read that one of the persons that did this to the guy was a relative of Katie's that just happened to be doing time at the same prison. It mentions it in the link in the first post...

    Movie game

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Bullplop. Here's a visual solution to the game. WARNING -- SPOILERS WITHIN LINK. http://www.jadedcabaret.com/mms-solution.jpg I had 29 completed before I gave up. Several of those -- the movie at the bottom of the staircase, the mother holding her children, the people holding/wearing/ "O" symbols are answers I never would have guessed. That only shows 49 answers. Where is the 50th?
  14. "At PASCAL I'm number 1" Holy crap. I haven't heard anyone even mention PASCAL much less use it in over a decade. IIRC, it was last offered as a class in my high school when I was in 10th grade. That was around 92/93.
  15. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) ...he's not a porn star, he taped himself having sex. He's doing this for the attention or the money or both. It's not like this tape was stolen and he didn't know about . He's releasing it on purpose.
  16. I didn't realize he's only 9 months older than me. Everyone else on that show was born in '72-'74. He still looks terrible with that goatee...

    Light cigarettes

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Light ones do have smaller amounts of nicotine and tar per cigarette in each cigarette. Which is why you feel like you're smoking air with an ultra-light. In my opinion, its an accurate label - because it definitely feels like a lighter smoke than say a Camel Wide or Lucky regular. So how would this be a case? If there are less amounts of harmful substances in each cigarette, then couldn't they really be considered "less harmful"? Sure they'll still give you cancer, just not a quickly. Kinda like a cheeseburger and a double-cheeseburger. Both will make you fat, but one will do it faster...
  18. QUOTE(ptatc @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) This is Chicago White Sox. It's the "we aren't coming until you show us something". It doesn't surprise me that after winning last year people finally come to the games. I would think that it's common to have better attendance after you win. Also, the attendenace was artificially inflated by the people who had to buy season tickets in order to get the playoff tickets last year. Remember it's how many tickets are sold not how many are at the ballpark. It is common to have better attendance when you win. The team on the northside is the only professional sports team that has managed to figure out how to raise attendance without the help of a winning team or a new stadium. The attendance increased about 21% in 2005 over 2004. It was also the first time they broke the 2 million mark since 1993 (which coincedentally coincided with a playoff berth and a 2-year-old staduim). Not a bad feat for a team that had a season ticket base of, IIRC, somewhere around 15,000 and were predicted to finish 3rd or 4th. BTW, I don't know if they count the many comp tickets they give away. If they did, they would probably be over 3 million easy.

    Light cigarettes

My wife has always smoked lights. The description I've always gotten is that they aren't as "strong". Everyone I know that has ever smoked the ultra-lights said it's like smoking air. I'm not sure I've ever thought they were less "harmful" but I did assume they have less tobacco, tar, niccotine, whatever in them...
  20. QUOTE(Tigers Fan @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 08:01 AM) so the whole country can make fun of Detroit again... As if they ever took a break.. I just saw Scary Movie 4 the other day. The scene where they show Detroit before and after the attacks cracked me up.
  21. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) heh heh, are you sure? I remember being ripped for predicting 3 million this year. Shoot, I was called off the wall for saying the SOX staff ERA would not allow them to make the playoffs. Thats what makes the SOX blowing it and not making the playoffs so FRUSTRATING, they really had a chance to take this town to another level You really didn't start posting regularly here until June. Most of the predictions were made before the season started. I myself predicted somewhere between 2.7 - 2.8 million and never heard a word from anyone. I'm just thinking that if this happened, it happened on the other board.
  22. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) The other side of the coin on that is, having the team go through that particular bit of humiliation and the meaninglessness of the final series in Minny (regardless of when they clinch) might inspire them to make sure they don't put themselves in the same position again next year. I'm looking for potential positives in the strangest of places at this stage. Well the Twins did it win the Sox clinched on their field in 2000. They moved up to second the next year and then proceeded to win 3 division titles in a row. The Sox clinched on the Tigers home field last year. Look what happened... QUOTE(ZoSo @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) Didn't Minnesota clinch in Chicago in 2004? Well, we know how they came out in '05 from the gate, whether that has anything to do with it. It'll happen when it happens and if the Sox are on the field to see it, it can only serve to light a fire in them for next year. Yep.
  23. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) Wow. Congratulations to the White Sox and this fanbase. I predicted this would the the 1st time the SOX ever got 3 Million (and was roundly mocked for it If I recall correctly) and was only off by 42,586. DANG! Thats basically one more good crowd, and we wouldve done it. 51 Sellouts. Congratulations SOX FANS, thats also a tribute to you too. I think you're getting your message boards mixed up. I did a search under your name for "million", "attendance" and "prediction" and can't find your prediction or anyone mocking you anywhere...
  24. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) I think they are trying to rid the convention of simple autograph and memorabilia hawks and trying to price them out. At the same time making hte event enjoyable for the players and the fans that do attend. I think it might cause the opposite affect. P eople with families that just go there for a weekend away to enjoy themselves are being priced out. The autograph hawks are probably willing to spend a little more money because they know they'll get at least some of it back by selling their stuff.
  25. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) I cannot IMAGINE what the room will be like when they do the Q&A with Ozzie after this turd of a season. Yeesh. Shades of 2004? Where, I believe, KW had to be escorted out or something? KW has always stood up and taken every verbal beating (and finger waving) at every seminar I've been to. IIRC, 2004 was the year they actually went over the alloted time because KW told everyone that he wanted to hear what they had to say.
