    Brand Loyalty

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) Mac and Cheese has got to be Kraft, since i was like 8 years old. Yep. The generic stuff is just nasty. Really that's about it for me. Everything else I'm not too picky about. Sure I have my favorites but if I have to settle for something else then it's not a big deal.
  2. I love threads where people try to tell other people that their opinion is wrong. Movies, music, food...
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Not even close. I admit I liked and watched both shows and those were two big reasons why but as far as judging the overall show (not just the eye candy) I enjoyed Wonder Years just a little bit more. I think it was the fact that it was a little more relatable to real life. Not everything got resolved in 30 minute segments and sometimes bad things happened. Even at the end they didn't wrap everything up in a happy little package where Kevin and Winnie get married and everyone lives happily ever after. Saved by the Bell of course had it's moments but I could never get over the fact that they had such a close relationship with their principal. Too much like the Archie comics... IMHO of course.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:16 AM) Saved by the Bell = greatest show ever! Kevin & Winnie > Zack and Kelly Plus Paul was a much better "geek" than Screech.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) But I thought we solved that in the ice cream thread...Cold Stone = over-rated I thought it was Cold Stone = over-priced. People making 10K a year definitely won't be stopping there.
  6. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) I can't put it better than Royko did. In 1995: And responding to some readers in 1993: Still missed, Mike. I don't know about pouring milk on french fries but I have poured milk on a bowl of saltine crackers. It's quite good. I've also dipped chicken nuggets in ketchup and french fries in honey. Never got into the seasoned fries in ranch dressing though...
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Seriously, I've never heard about this supposed ketchup etiquette. And I've been putting ketchup on my hot dogs as long as I can remember... Same here. I didn't even know what a chicago-style hotdog was until I was about 15 or 16. I have been called retarted for putting mayo and ketchup on my burgers though...
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) I hate to say this, but... Good. It should be $4 a gallon, if not more. More good than bad will come from higher gas prices, at this point in our country's history. It will suck for all of us in the meantime, but it will force changes that are desperately needed for our long term success and survival. Right, because I need to spend $150 a week on gas just to get to work and support my family. 40 miles one-way is a long way to ride a bike and I sure as hell can't afford to buy a new(er) car...

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) If they do I feel bad for them. I've never once tipped there. Tipping at DQ would be the same as tipping at McDonald's. It's pretty much just a fast-food restaurant right? The one near me even has a drive-thru. Tying in the ice cream thead, Cold Stone Creamery usually has a tip jar and if you put a dollar in they'll sing a little song.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) It's even more sad that the ones that NEED the help can't get it or have to jump hurdles to get it, but the ones who are cleating the system are getting thousands per month driving around in new Caddies.. :headshake That's the really sad thing. You have to have money to make money. The rich get richer and the poor get crap. Well, unless they get lucky enough to be on that "Renovate my Family" show. We are right in between so that we aren't poor enough to get any help and not rich enough to use the money we have to make more. The best I can do is sell a bunch of my old stuff on Ebay...

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Until last year, Wal-Mart considered an employee working 28 hours a week to be full-time. I worked for a radio station who's news director's salary in 2000 was 14K a year. His assistant was 12K. I worked for the third largest radio company in the country for a while and one of the assistants to the sales staff was making under 18K a year and working 50 hours a week. You'd be surprised how little you make on the low end of the white collar scale. I think you guys would laugh if you knew how much I made considering the line of work I'm in...
  12. I just paid $2.56 this morning but it hasn't been under $2.50 for the past 3 weeks.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) There are certain exceptions to the minimum wage rules. I had to look them up once, but have forgotten most of them. Perhaps with the recent changes, those classifications were removed. It was things like waiters who received tips, seasonal jobs, etc. You could also deduct for uniforms, regardless of actual cost) and stuff like that. There is a different minimum wage for people that work for tips. IIRC, if there wages + tips doesn't equal the federal minimum wage the employer has to make up the difference. There also probably really bad at their jobs if they're not getting enough tips...

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) http://www.dol.gov/esa/minwage/america.htm#Illinois The minimum wage in Illinois is $6.50 which = $13,520 a year gross. Whitesoxin', if people at your work are being paid under the minimum, here is a site they can (should) report your employer to. http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/ There are a lot of places that consider 32 hours a week "full-time". You're figuring it at 40 hours a week. I bet a know a few people that make right around $10,000 a year either because of low pay, low hours or both...
  15. I got a 16. It would probably be higher but I can't afford to be a geek. I don't have an Ipod, internet phone, satellite radio, GPS or a cell phone that takes pictures worth anything. I never understood the point of text messaging (plus I get charged like 5 cents for each one) and my computer probably couldn't handle any kind of online gaming. The only reason I have more than one working computer in my house is because my daughter wanted one to play games on and I got tired of kicking her off of it every time I wanted to use it. I just gave her my old one. I could probably network them together if I really wanted to but just haven't bought the hardware to do it. I could also probably build my own PC but I went the cheap and lazy way and got one for a couple hundred at a big box store. Overall I guess I toe the line of geekdom but can still fit in with a sports crowd at US Cellular or a wear all black with my long hair at Metallica concert...
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) The confiction was that he was going to be there Tuesday. He is definitely NOT going to be there Tuesday. Ah. No wonder everybody is confused. or at least me...
  17. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) If the phillies allow him there is no way Rowand wont be there. I've heard conflicting stories...
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) As far as I know, this is the first official confirmation I've seen that Rowand and El Duque will be @ the ring ceremony. Folks, make sure they feel welcome. It says that he's "heard" they'll be back...
  19. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) walk out of your house and start walking, you'll get there faster. That'd be quit a trek. It usually only gets bad once I get into the city limits. In the past I've debated about just parking somewhere farther north and then taking the train but I've already paid for parking passes now. I guess part of it will also depend on how early I get there. I'm hoping for at least 2 hours before the game.
  20. QUOTE(MEANS @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) oooooh a bad word, big deal. why one word is deem "bad" over another never made sense to me. I'm always amazed. My kids know pretty much all the words and what they mean. They also know that they aren't allowed to use them. They're going to see/hear them their whole lives no matter how much you try to shelter them. It's just a matter of teaching them that they are only for adults.

    Ice Cream

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Not unique to your neighborhood. The one on 59 in Naperville I am convinced is run by a 15 year old who had a premature growth spurt. The two times we've been in there he was hanging out front with a crowd of kids that couldn't have been a day over 14 checking out the "rims" on their mountian bikes. I'd never even heard of the place until we went to the Mall of America last summer. We just got one in Rockford not too long ago.

    Ice Cream

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) Moose Tracks does not come in soft serve, therefore soft serve is useless. I go with the Bunny Tracks myself. It's a little bit cheaper and tastes the exact same. If I have soft serve I like to go with the chocolate ice cream dipped in chocolate combo. Anyone ever have Cold Stone Creamery? That place is a little expensive but their ice cream is awesome.
  23. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) Yeah to me the whole title of the article is wrong. She wasn't ticketed because of an anti-Bush sticker she was ticketed cause it said _ _s***. I just heard a conversation this morning about how we are becoming de-sensitized to certain "bad" words. There are a number of words that you hear regularly on the radio or TV that they would never dream of using 20 years ago...
  24. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) Pizza Hut sells alcohol? I'm pretty sure they sell beer. I know Chucky Cheese does. I even found a fast-food restaurant here in Rockford that sells beer.
  25. Normally I just take 90/94 directly from Rockford right to the park. This year I might have to change that with the back-ups expected from the large crowds and construction. Looking at the driving directions on the Sox website it says to take the Roosevelt exit and head east to State. Then take that south to 31st and go back west again. Does that make more sense than heading west on Roosevelt and going south on Halsted or Ashland? What would be the better choice?
