QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) He seemed like he was trying to prove that one could live at Walmart undetected for a week. He only lasted 41 hours, so i guess he couldnt prove his point. I'm not sure about the undetected part. It seems to me he was just seeing if Wal-Mart could provide everything he needed to live for a week. Really all you need is food, water and a place to sleep. Hell, I could live in a gas station for a week. It was pretty pointless. Wonder if he ever watched "Where the Heart Is"...

The only time I've ever left anyone behind I had somebody else there to remind me before I got to far. One time I forgot about my daughter sleeping in her carseat in the back when I went to a local auto parts store. I got out and was talking to a friend that was with me and he stopped and said "You know you have a kid in the back right?" The other time was on my way to Chicago. We stopped at one of those McDonald's oasis things so everyone could use the bathroom. I got in and drove about 50 feet before my friend next to me mentioned that my wife was still in the bathroom. Oops...

Game Thread: Sox versus Cubs, 3/27/06, 2:00 PM
Iwritecode replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Anyone else notice that the Sox are using a DH while the Cubs are not? -
QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) the only benefit is they match you 100% for 3 months it seems but I dont know the availability of the funds otherwise I would buy stuff that had were like $3.02 or so they are matching the largest amounts possible After that they only match 5%. Plus, they'll only go up to $250 annually. But I guess $250 is $250. I sure wouldn't turn it down if somebody offered it to me...

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) WTF?? Did you buy them from Cub fans?? Who else would be dumb enough to sell them for so little? They're horrible seats (sections 557, 558, 507 in rows 20 or 21) but they can be found for that price or less.

We probably end up with more bacteria in our bodies just by breathing...

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Dude, if you are an adult and can honestly say that, I tip my hat to you. I mentioned it in the "Whitesoxin wants to know thread" but I've never been drunk in my life. Alcohol and nicotine don't seem to have much affect on me. Not that I drink a lot anyway. Can't afford it and having kids at 19 really limits your opportunities anyway.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) It's nice to know that we have so many adult posters that have never gotten drunk in a bar. I'm actually quite proud of it...

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) I shelled out $35 to see Tater live last year. It was my first stand-up experience and it was worth every penny. His new bit will be debuting this Sunday on Comedy Central. Was that when he was at the NIU convention center? I debated about it but didn't go. I saw him once when he came to Rockford. I also saw (and got to meet) Bill Engvall. I've seen Carrottop 3 times and he show got progressively worse each time. Plus it was always the same basic material. We skipped the 4th time around and of course heard from friends that it was a great show with all new material. :banghead I'd also like to see Rodney Carrington if he ever comes back.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) Yeah, but I can't remember a first name. I've only seen the guy once, doing that particular routine, so his name didn't stick. He's actually pretty funny.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) I've seen that routine - its one of the blue collar comedy guys, thought I forget which one. The fact that I include the words "Mr. White" might give you a clue.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) This is great news! I love Uribe, but nobody can beat Iguchi in the #2 spot. Ozzie just wanted to see if it could work, but it obviously didnt. This is what spring training is for. How about moving Dye to the 3 hole and Thome to the 5 hole now? Its important to have quicker guys at the top 3, Thome and Konerko would be the perfect 4,5 in my opinion. This is what i think Ozzie should do: Pods, Gooch, Dye, Konerko, Thome, Uribe, Pierzynski, Anderson, Crede The Red Sox seem to do OK with their slow-footed 3,4 hitters...

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) But these arrests are for public intox. The cop was like, "Mr. White, you are being charged with drunk in public-KA!" I was like, "Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! I was drunk in a bar! They, threw me into public-KA! I don't want to be drunk in public! I wanna be drunk in a bar, which is perfectly legal! Arrest them!"

I'm reminded of the movie Minority Report. Arrest somebody based on the fact they might hurt somebody... :headshake

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Who was the feminine male smurf? Vanity Smurf QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Gargamel's cat's name? Azrael
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) What was the name of the dead kid in Stand By Me? Ray Brower Better question would be what's the name of the short story it was based on and what other short stories in the same book were made into movies. One blockbuster and one dud.

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) If I already have tix but want the patio tix what would it cost me? $30 Post from Hal on WSI.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Cool! My daughter and yours have the same name. Though mine is spelled "Kayleigh". Named after one of my favorite bands biggest hits. I know somebody is a fan of the band if I see the same spelling. I'm pretty sure there is no other name that uses so many different spellings. I know of 5 so far. My daughter's name gets pronounced like that sometimes because of the spelling. Her name is Kali but it's pronounced to rhyme with "Sally". We were at a doctor's office one time and the nurse mis-pronounced her name so badly we didn't recognize it until she finally said our last name.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 08:49 AM) Curiosity has been my only motivation. I think drugs are like Russian roulette, some people can do them occasionally and not get hooked and have it take over their lives and some people can't. The problem is, you never know which person you are until you try them and if there is a bullet in the chamber, you're f***ed. I guess I've been lucky in that I've tried some potentially addictive drugs out of curiosity and never got hooked. I think I might be the type of person that doesn't get addictated to anything. I tried smoking cigarettes for about a week when I was younger. I didn't like the last one I had anymore than the first one. I certainly didn't get any kind of a buzz from them either. I guess I'm weird because I'm not affected by alcohol or nicotine.

QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) I've been gone for a few weeks due to the "bug" or virus. My IT department told me to stay away for a while. I saw SS on the train yesterday and he said it's safe again, so here I am! Is there a link to the explanation? Anyway...the news: My wife and I are expecting baby number 3 at the end of September. For my sanity's sake, hopefully we can get a boy this time, please God, please! I had three chances to have a boy. I struck out... Good luck to you and congrats!
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) I disagree with your assessment of how it feels. Its entirely different. It feels much much different than caffeine, and much better. The first time you try it, you are hooked, and you constantly want more and more and more. It really is an evil drug. I was watching something on TV about it not too long ago and they basically said that it inhibits your ability to get any kind of "rush" from anything else. It basically sounded like a crack addict could jump out of a plane and feel no adrenaline rush at all...

QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) Who remembers how he first hurt his back or is this just a chronic degeneration over time? I've read that it's a degenerative vertebrae problem.
-
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 12:33 PM) It's not, not in the grand scheme of things. Why can't people just accept that historical data that shows there are plenty of things more important than base stealing for creating runs--like OBP and SLG. What's the stat for # of hits given up because the pitcher was too worried about the guy on first and served a meatball over the middle of the plate? Just the threat of stealing a base can help...

We had a neighbor that wasn't quite *that* bad but everytime somebody stepped foot in her yard she came running out yelling at us. It wasn't because she was worried about the grass either. It was because she just didn't want anyone on her property. It was worse because her yard connected to a large empty field that we played baseball/football/kickball in all the time and there was no fence seperating them. More than once she stole a ball from us because "it was in her yard". She also got into a shouting match with my friends mom (across the empty lot) and called her every name in the book. The police eventually got to know her address real well. What' really funny is that her daughter went to school with us.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) IM sure there will be a lot of both kinds of people hanging out at the season ticket holder patio party on 4.4 As long as it's not like Soxfest where "sombody" walked up to the table in the bar and proclaimed "I'm going upstairs to have sex!"
