  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) I would love to hear one person on here who didnt drink when they were underage. *raises hand* Hell I rarely go out now that I am of age. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) It was illegal, yes, but should you have been punished by the law for it? Do you really feel that those nights out, or nights in, dinner with the family, birthdays etc where you drank underage, were punishable by law??? You can't compare having a little wine at dinner with your parents to going to a school function with zero tolerance rules in place completely plastered. You can't expect to go to a public place and perform an illegal activity without expecting to be caught. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Granted the website thing was stupid on their part, but the judgements by this guy were extremely harsh. And bringing them back based on pictures on a website is really assinine. Extremely harsh? Considering it didn't deter them from going out and doing it again, I'd say he wasn't harsh enough. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Why doesnt he focus on the drung dealers and murders's websites instead? Probably because most drug dealers and murders don't take pictures of themselves commiting the crime and post them on the internet...
  2. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) I am, and then i'm gonna get Probation and take pictures of my speedometer going 90 in a school zone flicking off the camera and saying "f*** you cop" LOL OLKLOLOLOOLOL and then he'll bust me LOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOL Now you're changing your arguement. Your first response was which is pretty much saying that because "everyone else does it", they should have never been punished in the first place. That's pretty flawed logic to begin with. Then when the kids went out and got busted for doing the exact same illegal activity you don't think they should be punished a second time as well?
  3. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) changed to green. which was what I meant it to be in the first place. Cool.
  4. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) the "underage kids drink everyday" came from you justifying posting that article without copyright and saying "people do it all the time" I'm in college and i drink. i'm underage. Do i feel like i'm doing something wrong? no. You know why? Because i know that the legislators who passed that 21 law likely drank before 21. To me its like going 50 in a 45 speed zone. Next time you get pulled over for doing 50 in a 45 (yes, it can happen) try telling the cop that because eveyone else does it and gets away with it that you should be able to do the same thing and don't deserve a ticket. You might have a few seconds to drive away while the cops is rolling on the ground laughing. There's no such thing as "a little bit illegal".
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) Ok, since you want to whine about it, its gone. happy? Not whining about it. I'd just hate to see the site in trouble because of something like that.
  6. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) It isnt a members only article, I got it off of a Sports Radio host blog. I dont think I am doing anything wrong posting that article here, people do it every day. I happened to notice "Copyright © 2006 Detroit Free Press Inc." at the bottom of the article. I thought that means it's copyrighted and you aren't allowed to use it without permission. Interesting site on copyright laws.
  7. Speaking of illegal, what are the copyright laws regarging reposting entire articles?
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) "More than 400 digital photos showed some students appearing passed out, others using special tubes to gulp beer, couples playing a drinking game called "beer pong," inebriated girls sitting on toilets -- all of it tagged with captions, many of them profane and aimed at Martone. Stesney, visiting from Detroit, and Senopole, Meershaert's roommate, were also shown drinking at parties at MSU." Oh my god, they use SPECIAL TUBES. Wow, lets go ahead and convinct every college kid who is drinking underage and has pictures to prove it. Talk about the judge taking something a little too far. My whole dorm/fraternity would have been jailed. s***, my parents let us have some beers once we got into college, it was even legal in OXford if your parents were with you. I think this is complete bulls***. Just because you never got caught doesn't mean it wasn't still illegal. That's exactly what happened here. The fact that they were dumb enough to take pictures of their illegal activities and post them on the internet made it even worse.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) I wonder how that could affect people who post exerpts from articles on here? http://today.reuters.com/news/newsarticle....OGLE.xml&rpc=22 I always thought that the copyright laws allowed you to post 10% of the article and provide a link. Not sure about the pictures though...
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) The thing was, I believe the girl's mother had been good friends or was once dating this guy, and for some reason didn't think he was a threat.... There are definitely pervs like that out there. My family actually had a similair situation occur once. A family friend who my parents had known since before I was born was dating a friend of my moms. We found out one day that he had been sexually abusing her special ed daughter. He's no longer a friend of the family... :headshake
  11. This has been in my office survival kit for a little while.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) Confirmed, as Steff did early, number of tickets is not dependent on how many people are in the room. Spoke with the person in charge at the hotel. Burlyman56, you cost yourself extra money for the room which had nothing to do with the passes. If you book a 2 night stay, you get 4 passes. If you book 1 night, 2 passes. Has nothing to do with how many peeps are in the room. Thank god this potential nightmare is over. They do charge extra for having more than two people in the room as I found out last year though. This year I'm telling them there's only two. The third person can wait in the lobby until we get our bags in the room.
  13. I'll be the guy in the Sox jersey, Championship hat and black pants. I should be easy to pick out.
  14. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) very true, what do u think they close the Opening Ceremonies off at 500?? 1000?? I'd expect the garage sale to be a hot spot when the fest first opens as well... No. I mean that if you have 1500 people in front of you, figure a few hundred are going to the Q&A session, a few hundred are going to see Konerko, a few hundred are going elsewhere (garage sale, booths, whatever) and a few hundred are going to see Thome. Now if you have 2500 people in front of you you're chances are going to significantly decrease...

    Student Loans

A little off-topic but there's a comedian named Mike Sweeney that has a hilarious skit about Sallie Mae. He talks about how the US hasn't been able to find Osama Bin Laden yet. Then says "Why don't we just turn his name over to the student loan people? Problem solved!" "They found me in a bar shooting pool in Puson Korea. Three people the world knew where I was. Then the bar phone rings." "Sweeny-San!" "A phone call for me? Hello?" "Hello, Mike Sweeney?" "yes" "Hi, this is Jenny from Sallie Mae." "Wha? How did you find me?" "We matched you DNA with some spit we found on a beer bottle in the jungle."
  16. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:22 AM) Thanks for the clarification IWC, I'll be printing the same thing and taking it with me. Bad thing is, that's for the 2005 fest, if you look at it closer. It's got Jan 14-16 as the dates. Oops. Didn't notice that... QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 07:17 AM) No worries Alex... here's my confirmation received 9/23/05. · Double Play/Two-night package -Includes 4 SoxFest weekend passes & 4 tickets to a 2006 White Sox game And the human at the hotel confirmed. Two different hotel employess with two different stories? What a big suprise... I think I'll believe Steff and her confirmation email.
  17. BTW, Bobby Jenks has been removed from the schedule. No idea what happened.
  18. Here's the webpage. The exact quote: It's the one-night package that only includes 2 passes. I'll be printing this page and taking it with me just in case. It really wouldn't suprise me if the hotel people don't know what they are talking about. It's happened before...
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Its hard to say for sure, but the fact that Jim and Pauly are both signing at the sametime should make it safe, but I wouldn't bet on it. Get up their as early as you can to be safe. Don't forget that the Q&A session is at the same time too. Thome is signing what 500? I'd say if your one of the first 1000 - 1500 people in line you'll be ok. Maybe even farther back.
  20. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) ....damn scalpers.... It gone!
  21. I always like the guys who thank the Lord that allowed them to win a football game. Right. Because if He does exist, he's got nothing better to do... I'd also like to see just one player blame a loss on Him. "We would have won if Jesus hadn't made me fumble in the 4th quarter!"
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Looks like Thome is only signing on Friday, that looks to be the tough autograph of the weekend. Friday's Q&A session starts 15 minutes after that. Decisions decisions...

    Blonde

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) she's wearing a USC cheerleading uniform and she is jumping up and cheering when Texas scored. The other cheerleaders are just standing there looking at her. she forgot which team to root for. I see. I was thinking along those lines but just looked at the color of the uniforms. duh.

I'm totally missing the point of this picture. What am I supposed to be looking at?
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Sounds to me that somone is underknowledged about the sport of hunting. 7% of Americans hunt. Less than 1 percent play basketball, baseball, football, etc. Where in the world did those numbers come from? Are you only considering the people that actually get paid to play a sport? Hunting is something a lot of people do in their spare time. Some even make a living doing it. I'm betting playing basketball (or baseball or football...) is something a LOT MORE people do in their spare time.
