QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) I wonder where she got that idea. Read it on the internet. Must be true.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) The team lost money in 2014. They only spent about 90 million and lost money? Either way, that’s bound to happen once in a while. My point though is the Sox are not the type of team that is going to go all out and spend big money to try to win it all. Something like the Tigers have been doing the past few years. That’s just not how they operate and I doubt it ever will be.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) This proves that Jamie Moyer was the last of the guys able to pitch forever, as well as LaTroy Hawkins. I mean Mark has never been on DL, has that smooth motion and is done at 36? Poor pitchers. Their arms just can't take the stress. 36 is not old compared to some of the dudes of the past. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:47 PM) This is a no brainer. Sign Mark Buehrle. One year and an option at 5.5 mill a year. You changed your mind in less than 2 hours.

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) the point is, the sox owners can afford to loose for 1 yr and make it up in the following yrs in many ways. Sure they can. But AFAIK, in the 30+ years they've owned the team they have never done that. So I doubt they'd start now. According to Jerry, they try to run as close to break-even as possible.

His mother stockpiled guns fearing Obama was going to take them. Appears that all the guns were purchased legally.

I know from personal experience, driving 1.5+ hours to and from work every day gets really old really fast. I can't imagine doing it at Hawk's age.

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) i am not using this to criticize the org, but this is me showing that i still have faith in the sox i grew up with. after they get the pieces to improve .... and it is positive , the season tickets will sell and mark my words, if the offseason is good. the fans will start watching next yr. Step 1 - Build it. Step 2 - They will come. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) Ugh I hate it. I have a f***ing rat or mice in my house. I am hoping it is a rogue one but have had evidence over the weekend and no luck on the traps I set. I can't sleep in peace. And when I say in my house, I'm not talking attic or walls but in it. Wife left garage open a crack and then our entry door as well and something came in when it was open. Get a cat...

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 11:18 AM) I write code: My comment was meant to be sarcastic I'm pretty sure you understood my overall meaning given the numerous issues with this organization at this point in history. Mark You should have said the day after opening day.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 08:46 AM) What I don't understand about White Sox fans is why it is now a requirement to make the playoffs xx many times in xx many years, and their has to be back to back appearances...If that was always the requirement, how the hell did anyone ever become a White Sox fan? It's not difficult to understand at all. Those requirements aren't for us. The ones who post on message boards like this are the die-hards. We are the ones that have been fans since we were kids. Had our fandom passed down from our parents and grandparents. We are the ones that still watch the team even when they only win 60 or 70 games. The problem is when it's just the die-hards going to the games, the attendance is only going to be 10 or 15 thousand a game. Those requirements are for the casual fans. The ones that only pay attention when the team is good. There are a lot more of them than there are of us and we need them to come spend their money at the ballpark. But they won't until the team starts winning and winning consistently.

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 06:31 PM) very interesting comparison. i really never thought of that in that way. what i saw is, if they had the wild card, the success of those teams would have had a whole different outcome esp in the fan base and attendance. all that was needed was a catalyst to start the ball rolling for a better success story. what could have been ...... Yeah go figure. From 1990 to 2006 the Sox never finished lower than 3rd (and that only happened 3 times). Yet the 3 times they made it to the playoffs it was because they won the division. Not a single wild card winner. Now that they've expanded it to two WC teams, they are finishing 4th and 5th. 99% of the history of this team can be summed up as good, but not quite good enough.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) Maybe the big change will be that there's more than 10 thousand folks in the stands for opening day. Mark Really? When has opening day ever been under 30,000?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) If Sandy Hook didn't lead to any major changes, nothing will. Unless pre-cognition becomes a reality, I honestly don't know what changes can be made that could prevent these school shootings from happening.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Have the Cubs won a playoff game since Bartman? How many teams in professional sports have World Championships since 2005? No. 26

I have a Ballistic case that looks like the one below. Seems to work pretty well. I've dropped my phone a few times and there's not a scratch on it.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) It's not a bad trip. Stay at one of the major hotels down by the Riverwalk. The Mexican food joints down by the Riverwalk are not bad at all. There are some bars on the Riverwalk and a Hooters as I recall. The Alamo is cool and there are some neat old buildings. I'd take one of those bus tours of the city and make sure you stay down by the Riverwalk. I think there are 2 Marriott chain hotels down there that are fine. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) I hope heads checks in to get all of this great advice before his January 2004 trip!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:09 AM) Yeah, evidence that the school has harassed the same family before over what seems like similar BS doesn't exactly help their case. I believe the sister was in a different school (but same district) when her incident occurred.

Somehow another thread got split off and it was merged with this one. It's since been corrected.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) There's no danger of him not being a Cub next year, I'm just wondering how that might affect things. I'm still not entirely sure how arbitration works. AFAIK, the player comes up with a number and the team comes up with a number. They each make a case for the number they chose and the arbitrator has to pick one or the other.

I can't believe anyone is really surprised that the school officials over-reacted the way they did. We hear stories all the time of kids being suspended for bringing cough drops to school, or having a plastic butter knife in their lunch bag. Or eating a god damn POP TART into the shape of a gun. I'm pretty sure a kid could bring an actual clock into school and someone would think it's a bomb.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 10:39 PM) Today's game assures Shark of whatever he wants on the open market. Wow. He gonna get 20 million a year for 5 years; bank it. Just hope Sox don't sign him. A single late-season game assures jack squat. Any pitcher can have one really good game. Remember when Humber threw a perfect game? He's not pitching anywhere now.

I'm not sure which story I'm sick of hearing about more. This one or the one with all the nurses wearing stethoscopes.

The beginning of that first video is totally me. I've haven't watched very many of the popular shows. Never seen Breaking Bad, OITNB, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Empire, etc... I think the only shows I'm really caught up on are Last Man on Earth, Mr Robot, The Walking Dead (just watched seasons 1 through 5 within the last month) and Heroes (looking forward to Heroes Reborn on Thursday). I did force myself to watch Under the Dome all the way through. That was horrible. I also watched the full season of The Whispers but nobody seems to be talking about it. Debating if I want to watch the new American Horror Story.
