  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) Was that the last time the Cubs and Pirates play this season? Nope. They'll be in Chicago in a week.
  2. I just had to spend $500 getting new brake lines put in. Definitely not a project I could even attempt myself. $400 of that cost was labor.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) Didn't mean to offend/anger. I just recall the Sox and their fans being mighty happy that Ozzie got that deal worked out with Florida. The fact that many were happy to see him gone doesn't change the fact that he quit.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 06:39 AM) Everyone has given you a direct answer. ^this
  5. My biggest problem is the fact that you go in for a $20 oil change and then they find $300 worth of other things on your car that needs to be fixed/replaced. They need to rotate the air in the tires, fill the blinker fluid, replace the muffler bearings, etc...
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) Should have double-checked. The morning of July 30th the Sox were 49-50, and the Rangers were 48-52. That makes it worse. That means the Sox have gone 19-25 (.432) since then and the Rangers have gone 29-15 (.659).
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) I used to have a car where you needed to remove a tire to get the filter off. I knew someone with a car like that once. I think it was an Oldsmobile.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:56 PM) Wow! Anyone got an explanation for that? They were 50-52 on July 31. They’ve gone 27-15 since then. The Sox were 49-52 on July 31. They’ve gone 19-23 since then. Although even if the Sox had gone 27-15, they’d only be in 2nd place in the division and one game back for the 2nd wild card.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) It used to be easy to change your own oil, but now the manufacturers can make it more difficult with filter placement. The filter on my current car is incredibly easy to get to. It points straight down with nothing in the way. I don't mind changing my own oil as long as the weather is decent. If it's 10 degrees and there's a foot of snow on the ground, I'll spend the extra few bucks to take it to a shop.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 12:54 AM) People that say he quit slay me. How come that is never mentioned in the media? Cause it's stupid. The Sox wanted him gone and he quickly negotiated a deal. This is big-boy sports. The White Sox did not want him. They chose KW. He bolted. So who cares?? Seriously. This quitting thing baffles me. I've NEVER seen it mentioned in the media. The only thing they mentioned is the hatred of Ozzie/Kenny and all the non-PC stuff Ozzie said to the press. Quitting? That team quit on Ozzie and he merely left. None of you wanted him back for the final year on his deal, anyway. He did you all a favor. Who cares if he quit with a week to go and why is that NEVER mentioned in the media?? Cause it's a non issue to most. ESPN link
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 08:06 AM) some are willing to give the managers job to Thome on a silver platter Who? Anytime I've seen his name come up, it's because that's the type of guy the FO will hire. Not because that's who the person actually wants them to hire. The typical post is "I'd like to see them hire ____ or ____ but they'll probably just hire someone like Jim Thome instead".
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Just checking but is that the average of the top 125 salaries for 2015? Yep. I copied the info from the site I linked and pasted it into an excel doc.
  13. QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) What's interesting in there is that he calculates a qualifying offer at $17.1 million. That's the first I've seen of somebody putting an exact number on it. I came up with $15.5 million. Salary info if anyone else wants to check the math.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 03:29 PM) We dare because you are well known to make grandiose unfounded misinformed statements based on one story you read. Sometimes I wish this board had a "like" button.

    2015 TV Thread

My DVR cut off the final 15 minutes of the Mr Robot finale. They replayed the episode a couple of times later on so I recorded it again in the hopes that it records the whole thing. If not, I'll be streaming it tonight.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) Technically there is no law mandating that she has to issue marriage licenses to homosexuals. Is there a law mandating that she has to issue marriage licenses to heterosexual couples?
  17. Nobody bowls anymore? I had a better night this week. Had a high game of 221 (I think? It was two twenty something) and brought my average up to 176. As a team we are 8-0 already.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 3m3 minutes ago Edison Volquez said he had chickenpox as a kid. Yordano Ventura didn't but said he isn't worried. When asked why, he flexed his biceps. I was apparently born with a natural immunity to chicken pox. 90% of the kids in my second grade class got it but I never did. Then when I had kids of my own, the two older ones got it and I still never did.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Do they really say things like this all the time? Really? Yes they absolutely do. I've heard/read it as well. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) God may have a plan but we also have free will in this life. I'm not sure those two things can both be true. If there's some creator that knows each and every choice we are going to make in our lives before we are even born, isn't free will just an illusion? If we make some choice that this creator couldn't or didn't forsee and plan for, then he's not as omnipotent as we thought.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) The "other" is quickly developing a history. The number of "friends" who have harassed me and degraded me for NOT superimposing a rainbow over my Facebook profile pic has grown so high I stopped counting. I don't change my FB photo for ANY cause, but somehow I'm an asshole because I won't change it for their favorite cause. I have an aunt who proclaimed that she was defriending anybody on FB who didn't have a rainbow in their profile pic, changing her mind only when her son refused to do it and she decided she didn't want to miss out on pictures of her grandkids. Now a guy has killed two people after going on a racist heterophobic rant. You need new friends. As far as the two flags go, I believe that neither should be flown in front of a state capital. Other than that, people should be able to fly/display them as they please.
  21. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) Is there a way to block/hide user avatars? Some of them are decidedly NSFW. Click my controls at the top of the page. Click board settings. Under board display settings set the question “Do you wish to view members avatars when reading topics?” to no.
  22. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) Yea you're right but it might as well be $100M because it is the Sox we're talking about here and they will do everything they can to try and recoup that money by playing the guy . Same thing with LaRoche . Everyone and their brother knew he should be platooned but somehow some way the Sox didnt anticipate that and it left a gaping hole in the middle of the lineup against left handers. You just can't win with such a huge hole in such a key spot yet come hell or high water the Sox want to squeeze every ounce of production or lack of production for the money they are paying him at the expense of playing winning baseball. I caught a few minutes of Rongey on the post-game last night and he was saying exactly this. Ugh...
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 08:43 AM) For them to operate those "No refusal checkpoints" they have to have access to a judge in some way who is willing and able to grant a warrant if you refuse the search. You still have the right to not speak and to demand an attorney in those cases as well. Otherwise you still have every right to refuse to answer questions or respond unless they're willing to arrest you. I swear I've heard of them setting up DUI checkpoints with a judge right there on the spot to grant search warrants.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) This is one of the cooler things I have heard about lately. Basically it can take facial recognition software and apply it to lost dogs. What you do is you take pictures of your dog. If it ever runs away, you can send out a notification. If you see a lost dog, you can take a picture of it, and the facial recognition software will match it to any lost dogs in their data base. http://www.findingrover.com/ That's a cool idea but I can't help reading that link as "find in Grover". Uh-oh...
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:04 PM) So a kid I went to school with messaged me and goes on to think this whole thing was fake. Because, in the body cam video of the shooter, the woman is seen running after getting shot. He says that they were blanks. What an idiot. There's always going to be conspiracy theorists that think everything is fake. There are people that think Colombine, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, 9/11, the JFK shooting and Elvis' death were fake too.
