  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) my opinion i am writing has nothing to do with what you wrote. but competitors, don't they have this, let me finish this, he is mine kind of attitude? They typically do but I think Freddy was fighting a little harder than he normally would have. They were already up by 6 runs, had a really good (and rested) bullpen and he was over 100 pitches. If it was a normal game in say June or July, he probably wouldn't have fought has hard to stay in.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) From the ALCS? I think he said he went to take him out and Garcia cussed at him a few times and said no. He went on to finish and be the 3rd straight CG winning pitcher. Apparently Ozzie had no clue about the CG streak and didn't know why Freddy wanted to stay in the game so badly.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) That's incredible. I worship Mark, but what was he thinking? Do they have kegs out in the bullpen? I know they got em in the clubhouse. He was in the clubhouse. No way they would be in the BP drinking right out in the open.
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) Anybody try using the App to get the tickets? I have seen both April 10 and April 11 that the app should be working to access the tickets. I have had no luck thus far with the app. Anyone else who bought a pass try the app yet? It's not suppose to work for today.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 09:58 AM) I am under the impression I do not have to pay for it. Was told I'd have some party # to take to the place to get measured. Assuming that goes on a bill for whomever is paying. That probably depends on the couple getting married. I don't know what the "norm" is but I had the guys in my wedding party pay for their own. Although the place I went had a rent 5, get the sixth one free deal. We had 12 guys to rent tuxes for so we ended up getting my best man's and mine for free.
  6. I read about the child support thing. I also read that they can be jailed until the payments are caught up. How is anyone supposed to catch up on payments while in jail?
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 11:23 AM) And its probably a case where the 8th graders that they are putting on the A team may have been in the same situation last year as your daughter is in this year so its a matter of making up for it with them. It really should just be the 8th grade team and then 7th grade team, not the A and B team if its going to be that way. I know at least one of the girls going also went last year when she was in 7th grade so I don't think their grade level matters. I can see the case being made for the other girl being slightly better and more consistent which is why I'm not making a huge deal about it. Their current averages are based on 8 games plus a couple of tournaments, so it may be a sample size issue too. It just seems like girls sports = drama. She plays softball during the summer and there always seem to be some sort of drama there too. I don't remember having that many issues when I played.
  8. I thought we had a thread about bowling but I can’t find it so I’ll just put my comments here. My daughter is in 7th grade and bowling for her school (7th and 8th graders only). There are two varsity teams and one JV team. The “A” varsity team is the better team overall and is made up of 4 8th graders. The “B” varsity team has 2 in 7th grade (including my daughter) and two in 8th. They are putting together a team to go to a state tournament and it is supposed to be made up of the 5 best bowlers. Well there is lots of drama going around because two of the bowlers on the “B” team have a better average than one of the bowlers on the “A” team. The 5 picked were the 4 from the “A” team and one 8th grader from the “B” team. My daughter got left off even though she is top 5 based on average. We were told it’s because she’s in 7th grade. I don’t think that should matter. If she’s the better bowler, she should go. I’ve basically kept my mouth shut because I don’t want to start a war and there’s already drama over which of the 5 that were picked should be the sub. If the four on the "A" team were the four best bowlers it would make sense. But they aren't.
  9. For the most part the bride, groom and/or the best man should tell you what to do, were to be, ect... We had ushers for our wedding to seat the guests. The groomsmen just had to get fitted for tuxes, stand in the front during the ceremony, take a few pictures and participate in a few dances at the reception.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 08:47 AM) It's not though. That's the intended consequence in a limited, specific circumstance, but the point of the law is to provide protection to Christians that don't want to work gay weddings or in some way support gay weddings. As some people have already come out and said, they'll serve gay people, they won't serve at a gay function. There is a distinction there, whether you agree with it or not. I'm struggling to understand what the difference is between serving pizza at a gay wedding (which they won't do) and serving pizza to a married gay couple out on a date in their restaurant (which they will do).

  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) What park district? Rockford.
  13. I'm supposed to join a Thursday night league in a few weeks. It will be the first time I've played in any kind of organized league since HS. Other than helping out at my daughter's practices, playing around a bit in an empty field or hitting in a batting cage a handful of times I haven't really done much baseball activity in the last 20 years. So it should be interesting.
  14. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Mar 21, 2015 -> 12:48 AM) Rockford Channel 13-3 WREX Rockford (Me TV) - all 55 games I can pick up this channel while I'm camping.
  15. QUOTE (joemg311 @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) I own/operate a used car lot. Honda has a great reputation for their vehicles lasting and therefor holding their value well, but in my opinion you pay a premium for that and it all evens out. This is why you can get a newer Nissan with way less miles for the same price making it an draw deal wise. Be aware that both those vehicles have somewhat common known issues that are usually hard to check for. Both have been known to excessively burn oil, especially the accord. It just google it. It is common enough that many wonder how it was never recalled. I have had a 2004 Accord that would need about 2 quarts added between oil changes, and most Honda dealers will claim this is normal. It is a piston ring design issue. As for the 4 cylinder Altimas, The catalytic converters tend to break apart and somehow send debris back into the engine causing lots of engine failures. Every car has its common issues, but these I see a bit more often then things on other cars, and both are around the mileage were said issues are most common. I would go for the Honda, but try and get a super long test drive somehow and check the oil level. Researching the burning oil problem and it looks like it's mostly the 2.4L engine that's affected? This one is a 3.0L V6.
  16. Debating between a 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5s with 71,000 miles and a 2005 Honda Accord EX-L with 138,000 miles. Both are the same price. I'm not real familiar with Nissan in general but I've read a lot of positive reviews. Although everyone I've ever talked to said that a Honda will last for a long, long time. We are looking for reliability over anything. Haven't seen the Nissan in person yet but the Honda was obviously well cared for. It's very clean inside and out.
  17. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 06:51 AM) With her name on the loan and title you will have a harder time taking the car if she defaults. As long as you are cool with paying for a car that she is driving, go ahead. Imagine the scenarios of taking the car back. She has made two years of payments then stops. Will you pay her back for those two years? If taking the car back means she will lose her job, will you accept that? What if she can't take care of her daughter without the car? You are being very generous and I don't want to sound callous. I applaud what you are doing for her. I am just pointing out a few pitfalls that you are facing. Now think about this. She makes all the payments, repairs her credit, and the rest of her life and her daughter's is made much, much, easier because of your faith in her and generosity. That's pretty cool. It's not the first time we've helped her out. We actually had temporary custody of her daughter for about a year a couple of years ago, so we are pretty close. I think we can get everything worked out. It's kinda of shocking to see how someone can get stuck in a downward cycle with almost no way out.
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 14, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) Instead of cosigning consider buying the car, keeping it in your name, and allow her to make payments until it is paid off. Depending on how good of a friend she is you could even make a few extra points interest in the deal. Charge some of the difference in rates she would wind up with at a "Buy Here - Pay Here" place. Credit card level interest is the norm at those car lots. But if you cosign, plan on being able to make the payments if she cannot. Anything less with damage your credit. It shows poor judgement to lenders that you are cosigning without plans to assume the debt at some point. You know how close to financial peril she is, perhaps even more IRS problems. All the same reasons banks are running away from here are why you could be left paying on the auto loan. Imagine something happens to her child, are you going to demand payment and cause the child to miss a doctor's visit? By co-signing the loan we would essentially be buying the car for her. We just want to have her name on the loan to build up her credit. If all goes well, she’ll build it up enough that she’ll be able to re-finance the loan in a year or two under her own name. It’s not so much that she has BAD credit. It’s that she has NO credit. We would be sure that the monthly payments will be affordable to her as well as us if we ever have to take over. We already have some numbers in mind. It’s just a matter of finding a car to fit those numbers. Worst case scenario is that we take over the payments and let our daughter have the car.
  19. How long does it take for an old debt that has been paid in full to fall off a credit report? A friend of mine wants to buy a car but they couldn’t approve her for a loan because her credit score is too low. Part of the reason it’s too low is an old student loan debt that was paid off a couple of weeks ago when they seized most of her tax return. So her plans to use the tax return and just pay cash for a car went out the window. My wife and I have been trying to help her out and one option we have discussed is co-signing a loan with her. But we know there are risks involved with that as well. We both have credit scores of 800+ and don’t want to ruin them if something happens and she can’t pay the loan anymore. The only other option we’ve come up with is going to a buy here/pay here (no credit, bad credit, no problem!) car lots. I just worry that she would end up with a POS that would need repairs every other week. She is borrowing a car from another friend for the moment but that is a very temporary solution. She needs to get something within the next week or two. She’s a single mom with a special needs daughter making just over minimum wage and she can’t seem to any kind of help or assistance at all. They told her that she makes too much to get food stamps.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 11, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) D'oh, my brother just sent me that it's behind a paywall, sorry everyone. I could read it with no problem.
  21. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) If you are being serious I really doubt that they will be jealous of the Cell. For one, many of the Cubs fans have already been to the Cell. Two, most Cub fans you talk to wouldnt trade their park for any other park in major league baseball. They realize it needs to be updated and renovated but they arent going to be envious of the Cell. That's laughable. I actually know a few Cubs fans that hate Wrigley Field and think the cubs need to get out of there. They would rather see the team win and think way too much time, money and effort is put into glamorizing the experience of "beautiful Wrigley Field". Although they may be the exceptions…
  22. I would think Roger Bossard would have a big say in the decision if it were to ever be seriously considered. He uses the off days to take care of the field. With two teams playing, there wouldn't be any off days.
  23. I remember a few 4 degree days and a few 0 degree days. Does that count?
