QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 6, 2014 -> 09:55 PM) Ok, that makes more sense now. Although even the angle in which she is taking the camera makes it hard for me to think he was actually in her background. The way I understood it, there was a group of people watching the dude on the bridge and the chick decided that she wanted a selfie with the jumper in the background. Kind of an obnoxious thing to do. Like taking a selfie with a car accident in the background.

who's paying the medical bills for this dead person?
Iwritecode replied to DukeNukeEm's topic in The Filibuster
Along these same lines, I recently read about a woman in Texas (I think?) that was in an accident and is being kept alive by machines. The twist is that she is pregnant. Her husband said that she didn’t want to be kept alive but they didn’t have anything in writing. Because she is pregnant, they can’t/won’t pull the plug. Edit: Link -
who's paying the medical bills for this dead person?
Iwritecode replied to DukeNukeEm's topic in The Filibuster
I read this morning that the hospital turned the girl over to the coroner (sp?) who then turned her over to the family. She has a death certificate filled out but they can’t put down the cause yet. -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jan 6, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) Sigh, my car won't start. Gas gauge is just a bit lower than half a tank. Single car house, ghetto neighborhood where I don't know anyone around so I can't really jump it. Will the problem fix itself as it gets "warmer" or will it no doubt need to be jumped at some point? Add a gallon of gas??? Any other tips? Fwiw, it might be worthwhile to get one of those jump starter booster packs. That way you don’t have to rely on someone else to jump your car.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jan 6, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) It tries to start, doesn't click. It's kind of a slow drawn out attempt at starting How old is your battery?

The cold hasn’t really affected me much at all today. My car started up with no problem and there was 0 chance of my work closing. The streets were pretty empty so I had a nice, easy commute in. I’ll take cold 10 times out of 10 over shoveling any amount of snow.

I thought about all these posts about the dogs in the snow as I was reading my facebook wall. A couple of people posted something about providing shelter for your pets from the cold/snow. The funny part was the picture attached showed a pure white dog laying in the snow. It looked an awful lot like a husky, which are pretty much built to spend a lot of time in cold/snow.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 12:32 AM) If you are to believe that family, that bystander should have just walked on and ignored the fact that an innocent clerk had a gun to his head by a robber, simply because it wasn't at HIS head. And I am sure there are more than a few posters here that agree with that sentiment. I’d be surprised if anyone here did agree with that.

I didn't realize until just now how long it's been since I've watched a new movie. I've only seen 2 movies from this year and they both came out in January.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) Ugh...weekends. What are those? I've had Tue/Wed as my off days for a few months now. It's the nature of working in TV. Today is the first of eight consecutive work days. Hooray! I’m still getting my normal Sat/Sun off as well. Which is what really sucks. Get 2 days off, work 1, get 2 more off, work 2, get two more off… It’s so much better to get time off on consecutive days.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 05:49 PM) You do too. We all do. We've had over 500 people working full time to make more laws since 1789. They've done a lot, we break laws every day with or without knowing. (I've had an awful bit of luck the past few days, hence the delay in response). So your definition of not being "so easily controlled" is that you do the same thing everyone else does?

Internet company PR rep tweets offensive joke, goes viral

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 10:02 PM) I've got more "broken windshield" tickets than everyone on this board combined. I change my driving habits from sub-2000 lb sports car to 80,000 lb monstrosity. I don't whip my International (no more Peterbilt, RIP buddy) around the same way I do my Miata. I'm assuming you also don't go around with offensive comments/jokes plastered on the side of your truck either. -
This week and next week I have to work Monday, off Tues/Wed, then work Thurs/Fri. It's so weird working today. It feels like a Monday and a Friday at the same time.

I know most of the stuff I’m getting because I was there when it was purchased. Same with my kids because they are getting more and more difficult to buy for the older they get. There are a few things they are getting that they don’t know about and probably the same for me. I came home the other day and noticed that there was a stack of wrapped presents with my name of them. Then I noticed that my kids had wrapped them with duct tape. The tradition in our family is that it should take a minimum of 5 minutes to get through the multiple layers of tape, paper and boxes.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 11:06 AM) The Wii U is much more powerful than the 360 and PS3. Unless you mean One and PS4, those are much more powerful than the Wii U. I actually meant the Wii not the Wii U.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) We'll take up a collection for you so you can make it through the holidays. I was actually shocked that I matched the powerball twice in a row. But I think I'll be ok. My wife told me that she gave a co-worker $10 for gas when said co-worker used her last $2 on scratch off tickets. Then later a customer came in and gave her a $20 gift card. Kind of a pay it forward in reverse. So that makes up for my $4 loss.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 10:08 AM) My mother-in-law bought it on Thanksgiving and didnt know who it was going to be for yet. i drooped a few hints to my wife that it sure was something I;d like to play.. hint hint hint. From what I've read, there are two different modes. A sandbox-type mode where you can have any character you want to play as and it allows multiplayer. Then there are individual "worlds" that only the characters from that world can access. So you can't have Woody and Buzz Lightyear running around Halloweentown with Jack Skellington. I don't think the individual worlds offer multiplayer but if they do, at the very least you have to have two characters from that specific world. I've also read that the WiiU version has less features because the WiiU is underpowered compared to the others.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) Which lucky Soxtalker won the Mega Millions? I bought $5 worth last Friday before it rolled over the last time. I won $2. I went to cash it in but the cashier misunderstood me and ended up giving me $2 worth of tickets instead. This time around I won $1. So net loss of $4.

When is the deadline that we have to have insurance by before the fine kicks in? My wife has still heard nothing from her employer on whether they are going to offer insurance next year or not.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 07:14 AM) Got the Disney Infinity starter pack for my kids. Don't know if I am prepared for the financial drain those toys will provide We looked into it but the cost is what really turned me off about it. The kids were kinda/sorta interested in it but not really enough to justify it. We bought them a bunch of UB Funkeys when they were popular and they lost interest in those after a while as well. At least they were only 7 bucks for each new character. Plus we’d end up having to buy another PS3 so that I could still play my games.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 09:23 AM) How about the "candles lit, dinner made, wine in hand, anbd my HUBBY!!! Life is so good." Well b****, if it was so good you wouldnt be looking for other people's approval on the internet /end rant You must be friends with some of the same people I'm friends with because I have one that makes that exact post every other day.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) I just read they are bringing another character back. Which should be pretty obvious if you know that his spin-off show was just canceled.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) The real reason you don't want me having rights is because I'm not so easily controlled. What does this mean exactly? Do you pick and choose which laws you want to follow?

I started at $26K in 1998. For a 20-year-old, that was a lot of money. Then I bought a house and had a third kid. The money didn't go quite as far then. The 2 and 3% raises didn't help much either.
