QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 14, 2013 -> 11:15 PM) My phone isn't advanced enough to have a lock like that. This.

I'm on facebook but I rarely post anything. I'll check it once or twice a day and scroll through to see what everyone else is doing. Don't use Twitter.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) 1. Dave Chappelle - Funny 10 years ago. Not so much anymore. 2. Kevin Hart - Used to like him, but he's getting a little annoying and is shoved down our throats too much. 3. Aziz Ansari - Hilarious. Whether it be Parks and Rec or standup. Good all around. 4. Rickey Smiley - Never heard of him. 5. Zach Galifanakis - Yes. Been a fan from way back before he got big. 6. Daniel Tosh - Yes and no. Hilarious at times, but really misses the mark others. 7. Hannibal Buress - Have not heard a ton, but is hilarious when he's on Bob and Tom. 8. Sarah Silverman - Always thought she was overrated. 9. Bill Burr - Not real familiar with his work. The little I've seen has been good. 10. Louis C.K. - The best comedian performing today. Hands down. Other good ones not mentioned - Jim Gaffigan, Tom Green (his standup is hilarious), David Cross, Mike Birbiglia, and many others. Who I can't stand - Anthony Jeselnik, Amy Shumer, Terry Fator Mike Birbiglia is hilarious. I'm surprised he hasn't been mentioned yet.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) Drew Carey was freaking horrible. Watch the old English version if you can. It was awesome. The only good thing about Drew being on the show was that he was easy for the other guys to make fun of.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) Also, Jim Gaffigan should be somewhere around 6-10. Agree. I'd throw in Anthony Jeselnik as well. I have no idea who Rickey Smiley is.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 11:11 AM) Yeah, that much was given because you remember the boy kissing him mother or whomever at the beginning before heading out. I was wondering at one point if it was Opie's kid.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) The first episode was solid - nothing spectacular. The school shooting is a very smart way to talk about guns. I spent the entire episode wondering who the hell the blond kid was. When they first showed him it looked like a flashback to a younger Jax. I'm assuming he's the son of the girl that was shown at the end with Dave Navarro? Also my first (probably wrong) prediction is that Tig doesn't survive the entire season.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 9, 2013 -> 11:02 AM) I'm assuming the kind that squirts and not shocks? Either way, he started using a water bottle. When he barked, we'd say NO that spritz in the face. Now if we calmly say No when he barks, he stops. Or we just show the bottle. We've done this for our dog when we take her camping. It helps some but hasn't completely stopped her. The thing is if we aren't right there with the spray bottle she'll just keep going. There are sometimes she doesn't even know what she's barking at or she justs barks because she gets too excited. We don't think she can see very well because sometimes she'll bark at one of us as we are walking up to the trailer. If she sees somebody that she knows like my parents, she'll literally bark while her tail is going a mile-a-minute.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 08:49 AM) You can get a bluetooth OBDII module for $15-20 on Amazon and use it with an app on your phone to read CEL codes (and a whole bunch of other diagnostic information). You can reset the codes that way, too. Autozone etc. will read codes for free, too. But yeah, usually it's emissions-related. Leaky gas cap seal, bad emissions control valves/solenoids, bad O2 sensor. Reading the CEL code will tell you exactly what's wrong. In my experience, the codes never tell you exactly what's wrong. It just lists 2 or 3 possible causes. You'd actually have to take it to a shop with a diagnostic machine to know exactly what is wrong. But that costs a lot more... QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 09:21 AM) Do you have a code reader SS? I just got to googling the issue with my Escape and people claim that unplugging the battery does not fully erase the error code (the car has to go completely dead without electricity, and i've always had my radio stations saved so I know that hasn't happened). The code reader itself should be able to clear the codes. Like SS mentioned, you can go to Autozone to get it done for free.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) What about Shawn Ryan (The Shield, Terriers)? I've never watched any of the shows he's written for so I've never heard of him. Since he does most of his work behind the camera rather than in front of it he's probably less recognizable to a lot of people.

Natasha Leggero, who was one of the roasters, is from Rockford. I actually just learned that a few days ago. Before that I had never even heard of her. So I guess she would be #3 on the list of famous people from Rockford behind Cheap Trick and Michelle Williams.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) Its not bad out there. A lot of mobile home/prefab home/RV makers out there, and they got hit really hard by the recession. I've taken the tours through a lot of the factories around there that make the camping trailers. This is completely anecdotal but it seems like the whole camping industry went down for a while but is starting to pick up again. I know of quite a few people that have bought campers within the last couple of years. Two of them were brand-new 2013 models.

I think even back in 05 or 06 when times were good the rest of MLB had a different view of Ozzie than most Sox fans did. I don't think that view has changed much since then.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 11:25 AM) It's a 97. I ran a diagnostic check on it and the only other problem at the moment is the egr valve which should get taken care of with a new engine. Cosmetically it's near flawless, only problem is the "ceiling carpet"(couldn't think of a better word) is hanging a bit. As long as everything else is in good shape, you'll probably be fine. There are a lot of things that don't show up on a diagnostic test (brake lines, shocks, belts, hoses, exhast system, etc...) Especially any original parts that are now 15 years old. Although most of that is normal stuff that you'll have with any car.
-
What year is it? If you plan on keeping it for another 3 or 4 years and it doesn't have any other major problems then you're probably ok. Just remember that there are about 1,000 other things that can eventually go wrong. I just traded in my 1993 suburban that only had 145,000 miles on it. It ran like a champ but it had a handful of other cosmetic and mechanical problems and I didn't want it to keep nickel and diming me to death.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 01:09 AM) Could be worth a 2nd opinion but from what I've read it sounds like its the engine...Back to the original question, if it is indeed the engine how does $1840 sound for an engine with 66k on it plus a new belt, plugs, and wires sound? Comes with a 6 months parts and labor warranty. The body on it is still practically flawless, and a diagnostic test showed that the only other thing wrong with it is an egr valve which I believe goes away when putting in the new engine. So with that said, and with money tight wouldn't it make sense to just go with the engine with 66k on it rather than dropping that 1840(or less) on another car with 2x the miles and potentially more problems that I don't know about? Sounds about right to me. I think I paid around $1400 for a V6 engine with about 80K miles on it a couple of years ago.

I forgot the Wii U even existed. Even my kids who are constantly playing DS games or PS3 games (and even break out their N64 or GC at times) have zero interest in the Wii U.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 01:13 PM) If you are incredibly gifted, then it's perfectly fine. I mean, my passion in life is baseball, specifically playing baseball, but I really can't do that for the rest of my life unless I want to die in 4 months due to lack of food and shelter. Generally, society will provide outlets that allow you to enjoy life while allowing you to also sustain yourself. Sometimes, this is "selling out to the man" and "being told what to do." This. It reminds me of the quote "find something you love to do and you'll never work a day in your life". That's great in theory but it doesn't work for everyone because there are a lot of s***ty jobs out there that need to be done and I doubt they are on many people's list of dream jobs.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) tennis blows When I was a kid I typically had a dozen or more tennis balls laying around somewhere. I would always find them at the park near my house. Some of the best times of my childhood were had by hitting them around my yard with a baseball bat or throwing them onto the sloped roof of my house and catching it. I don't think I used any of them to actually play tennis more than a few times in my whole life.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) Yeah, I don't care so much about the morality of infidelity or divorce, especially when there aren't kids involved. Once you have kids, it's overwhelmingly in the best interest of the kids (assuming one parent is not abusive or a criminal) for the parents to stay together. Making choices that lead away from that path are incredibly selfish. I don't think that's always the case though. If it's a couple that simply can't stand to be in the same room with each other but they are staying together "for the kids" they are creating an incredibly uncomfortable environment. Sometimes it's better for kids to have parents that are seperated but happy rather than two that are staying together but making each other and everyone around them miserable.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) Nowadays it is much easier to directly contact a girl. In the past, you had to call her house, then her parents would pick up, and you would have to ask them to speak with her. So nerve wracking! Then your parents would complain that you were on the phone when they needed to use it.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) The funny thing to me is that in my case I don't really fear the rejection. I would much prefer a girl just tell me she isn't interested then just start ignoring texts out of the blue after responding to everything almost immediately for a week and a half and apologizing to me in the one instance when she didn't respond to a text immediately. I just hate playing games and uncertainty. I was talking about the fear of rejection when you actually had to work up the courage to physically walk up to her and say "Hi, my name is..." Many people could never get past that. Talking via the internet or text makes it much easier. I would have never met my wife had she not approached me first. I'm better now than I was when I was younger but I'm still very introverted.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) As someone who is old enough to remember the UHF dial on televisions, I'm glad I didn't have to date in today's world. I was bad enough at it as it was, but throw in texting and Facebook and I'd have been even worse and it might have pushed me off the deep end. I have to imagine it's a lot easier today than it was back then. Before we were limited to the people within our physical location. School, hometown, local hang-outs, etc... Now you have the chance to interact with basically anyone that has an internet connection. It also lessens the fear of rejection since your initial contact isn't face-to-face with the other person.

Pick up the phone and give her a call? Or do people not do that anymore? I've been out of the dating game since before cell phones were even popular much less texting.
