  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) Forget the dynamic deal discount, forget the Sox save of the week, people don't want to go through hoops to buy your product. Set a price and keep it there. Tigers ticket prices.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) It should have no bearing. If you seriously think Cabrera is better than Trout, then you vote Cabrera. You shouldn't vote for Cabrera just because he wins a Triple Crown. Is having one more RBI or one more home run than Josh Hamilton that important? That's what I think too. MVP = most valuable player. Not most valuable hitter.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) If Cabrera wins the triple crown - him. If not, Trout. So if Hamilton hits 1 more HR than Cabrera that will swing your choice to Trout?
  4. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) PKs having surgery tomorrow so its clear he was dealing with something, so thats not an excuse. It's a problem he should have taken care of last off-season.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:36 PM) I didn't reply because I thought your question was silly. So you didn't actually have a point?
  6. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 11:34 AM) What's your point exactly? Still waiting...
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) It makes things look worse, sure, but it's also reality. The Rays and the Angels (two teams with better records than the Sox) will also be watching the playoffs from their couches as well. Again, what's your point? Why do you care where they stand record-wise vs. the entire league?
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 11:26 AM) Last I checked they are the 8th best team in the AL. 2nd best team in the ALC. The 7th best team is going to the playoffs. What's your point exactly?
  9. I think I've seen less than half of the movies/scenes on that list. A few of them I know of the scene but have never actually seen the full movie. Like the Casablanca one or the Taxi Driver.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) People now love to throw around 90+ losses were predicted. I want to know who predicted that? Very first link I clicked on after Googling 2012 MLB predictions: link I'm sure there are more... EDIT: Apparently SI predicted 95 losses.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) Fact: Our pitchers couldn't go more than five innings for the final couple weeks of the season. Fact: Buehrle could have done so. Fact: Buehrle could have mentored our young pitchers who desperately needed help late. The fact is the Sox couldn't afford to pay another guy cause of all that money going to Rios and Dunn and Peavy. Too bad. Cause I will always believe we are in the playoffs if mark is on our team! I think the much hyped Coop did a s***ty job the last month mentoring this staff. s***ty. And bad use of pitchers as well. The only thing that could be considered a fact is that first sentence. Even that is not entirely true. The rest is all an opinion.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) Why do yo say that? How he left as a player was as bad as how he left last year and he was brought back to manage the team. That's why I would not dismiss it. I'm not sure JR will be around in another 15 years.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 02:16 PM) Well, if he does have surgery, then that would give Marty more credibility to most on here since he started about a month ago he heard PK had a fractured/broken wrist or hand. He's having surgery for a floating bone fragment that has been bothering him for years. IIRC, he had an injection done last year and this year to move it to a less painful spot in his wrist. It's not a story that Marty broke.
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) If there is a job you can get based entirely on ability to answer stupid brain teasers, let me know. I'm really good at those. Every job interview I have requires you to be good at stuff like relating to people. IIRC, they weren't even really brain teasers. They were just odd questions to see how you would answer them. One was something like "If you were only 1 inch tall and trapped inside a blender that was about to be turned on. What would you do?"
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) I think you are giving the White Sox fanbase way too much credit. In order to fill the Cell, you need to be in the playoffs, period. What is the season ticket base this year? somewhere between 10,000 - 15,000 maybe? It's tough to rely on 15,000-20,000 walk-ups every single night to watch a team nobody had high exceptions for at the beginning of the season and have been unable to put more than 3 games between them and the team that's chasing them for most of the second half. I think most of us have spent the season waiting for the other shoe to drop. It finally did.
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) But throughout my childhood my family limited ourselves, we didn't go out to eat much, we only bought clothes at Kohl's and even then it was infrequent (hand me downs where we could), I've never really considered Kohl's to be a cheap place to get clothes. When I was a kid it was Kmart. As well as Salvation Army and garage sales.
  17. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) That is very sad. I have family members that came from El Salvador not speaking any english and are now making 6 figures running their own businesses, thanks for handing it to them America! Who needs hard work when you can just kill all the hard workers. Do they pay taxes on their business? I ask because I know somebody that refuses to believe that "7 year tax break" rumor is a complete myth.
  18. I've often heard that the reason doctors charge so much is because they have to pay a lot for malpractice insurance to protect themselves when they mess something up and get sued.
  19. My wife has been looking at the e-cigs for a little while now but has yet to try them. Maybe I need to push them a little more. The cost savings alone would be huge. Not to mention the fact that damn near every single day one of her ashtrays gets knocked over in our house by a dog, cat or kid. Personally, I never got into tobacco products of any kind. My parents didn't smoke but plenty of my friends and family did. I tried it once or twice but just didn't like it.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) Opie pretty much was done, he admitted to Lyla that he didn't love anything (at least from what I could understand in that convo). He wanted an out, and he saved the one guy that could do something to the guy that ruined his life and family.
  21. I started this here because I can see it turning political but this is scary. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/stophospital...1.html?page=all We have a neighbor that just settled a lawsuit because her husband had brain surgery but they messed him up good because they were looking at another patient's information while they were doing the surgery. They literally cut into his brain in the wrong spot.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 01:16 AM) Wait, what happened? This started as school dance and has turned into PB&J vs. the State. SOLUTION: REPLACE PB&J WITH MARSHMALLOW FLUFF & JELLY. EVERYONE WINS! KIDS GET SWEETS, ADULTS ARE MORE LIKED, DENTISTS GET MORE APPOINTMENTS! PB and marshmallow fluff is really good. Never made it with jelly though.
  23. Saw this story, thought of this thread. Boy with Severe Allergies Uses Robot for School
  24. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) If we win one and the tigers win two I am completely fine with that. We would emerge from the weekend with a 1 game lead and 7 of 10 at home vs their 4 of 10 at home. Magic number would drop to 10 with 10 left. I like our chances of going at least 6-4. 2 out of those 3 lines came true.
  25. IMHO, I think separating the kid(s) out from everyone else would be the simpler and less problematic way to go. Especially with the bullying/teasing part. In my mind I just see it as: "I can't eat a PB&J for lunch because of you. You suck." compared to: "So you have to eat by yourself because you can't eat peanut butter huh? That sucks. Wanna play kickball?"
