  1. I'm with you. The Yankees don't match up well at all.
  2. This is where I'm at. All 3 of the guys have some major red flags. If it's Cags so be it. Toss him in right field and let's hope for some prodigious dongers on the south side.
  3. There's copious draft discisson in the actual draft thread for those that aren't aware it exists.
  4. Honestly. I wouldn't hate it. Big fan of both Smith and Burns. The organization also seems to have shown that pitching development has taken a leap forward. Might as well play to your strength. It's a shame the position player side of the farm is so dreadful.
  5. New Kiley mock this morning as well. This one takes an interesting turn as Kiley says the Reds are turning away from Condon and are more into Cags or Burns. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/40539871/2024-mlb-mock-draft-30-kiley-mcdaniel-predicts-top-picks 1.) Guardians - Wetherholt 2.) Reds - Cags 3.) Rockies - Condon 4.) Athletics - Bazzana
  6. New BA Mock this morning. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2024-mlb-mock-draft-6-0-new-predictions-for-first-39-picks/ 1.) Guardians - Wetherholt 2.) Reds - Condon 3.) Rockies - Burns 4.) Athletics - Bazzana
  7. New Callis mock. Cags again. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-2024-mock-draft-july-11?t=mlb-draft-coverage
  8. To be fair, I wouldn't say he has swing and miss issues. I think he has like a 9% strikeout percentage. It's the lack of selectivity that folks are wary of. The excessive chase rate in particular. He's clearly made it work this season. People are just worried how that will translate. Couple that with minimal defensive value and you have a risky profile.
  9. While I adore the draft, I'm ready for it to be over so we can get the trade season percolating.
  10. Also I'm not sure Jac Caglianone is anywhere near a household name. I don't think that applies in the baseball draft save for generational type talents.

  12. They didn't really make it sound like a revelation or anything, just that it is the current intel with names they are hearing.
  13. Just got to the White Sox section of the podcast. Nothing earth-shattering. - We've heard both hitting and pitching profiles linked to them (We sure haven't on this board). - Griffin is mentioned with the White Sox recently. - Have a gut feeling they would like Wetherholt to fall to them, but this seems less likely as of late. - Hard to see Jac falling further then this. - Assumes Condon/Bazanna don't get here. - Best guess is college bat. - Wonders if the success with Colson/Schultz (preps) pushes them towards Griffin. - Carlos opines that the risk level between Cags and Griffin aren't that different.
  14. There just seems to be some glaring warts with both Jac and Griffin that I don't trust the White Sox to get the most out of. That's probably why I keep coming back to Wetherholt despite the injury issues.
  15. In BA's draft podcast today they do a preview for all 30 teams. There is a sizable section at the start where they just talk about Jac Caglianone in general. It's very insightful. Paraphrased below. This is conversation between Carlos, Ben, and Peter. It all started with the question "Do you get a sense that Cags is a polarizing player?" I was slightly disappointed that they didn't talk about his defensive chops. Maybe that's telling though? I'm much more into Jac if he can be an average RF.
  16. Interesting. Looks like he has them passing on Wetherholt in that mock. No longer an option? Or do they just have Jac higher you think?
  17. The Maldy trade at the deadline is going to bring a HUGE return.
  18. Fantastic bounceback after that first inning for Fedde. Gamer.
  19. Some cliff notes from this as I watch/listen. - Keith reiterates how bad of a draft class this is. Especially compared to last year's. Carlos says it's the worst he's covered. - Law really likes Condon. Comps him to Kris Bryant. - Carlos says BA would have Cags ranked lower then the industry due to the chase rate. Notes he would be a 3rd round talent as a pitcher. Says the defensive profile is polarizing. - Law says Cags power is unmatched in this class and that he should abandon pitching entirely. Says he would try him in RF with the 80 arm, and if it doesn't work move him back to 1B. Also notes the approach really needs to change on the chase rate. - Law has Burns/Smith neck and neck with Smith lower due to the previous TJ surgery. - Law is the high guy on Braden Montgomery. Carlos is worried about the contact skills. Thinks teams might abandon the switch hitting. - They all agree that after the top 10, the first round is going to be chaos due to the fall off in talent. - Someone asks why Kurtz has been falling. Carlos gets into how risky the 1B profile is. Mentions Jacob Berry, Andrew Vaughn etc. - Keith Law loves Ben Hess. Thinks he should be a 1st rounder. Surprised he's not ranked higher by others. - They all think Brecht will go in the first round. The stuff is ridiculous but the walk rate is still super scary. Probably a late 1st round guy. They mention the Dodgers picking him and having him fixed up in a hurry. (of course) - Asked about first player to the majors from the class. Mentions Kurtz, Yesavage, Chase Burns, Hagen Smith, Tibbs. - On comps: Bryce Rainer = Corey Seager. Konnor Griffin = Jo Adell. Bryce Rainer = Brice Turang. They all reiterate that they hate comps though.
  20. BA draft roundtable coming up with Keith Law and Shooter Hunt. Should be a fun listen.
  21. Fedde with a second incredible catch today.
