Draft thread belongs on the FutureSox board imo.

Kiley's added through the second round in his mock.

Kiley's last mock. He has Cleveland taking Bazzana saying that the chatter about Wetherholt is posturing to get Bazzana's price down. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/40548158/2024-mlb-mock-draft-31-kiley-mcdaniel-predictions-final-picks-update 1.) Guardians - Bazzana 2.) Reds - Condon 3.) Rockies - Burns 4.) Athletics - Wetherholt

That's my favored outcome.

@Harold's Leg Lift How you feeling? Still think they end up with Cags?

Happy Draft Day! Let's transition to this thread for today's rumors and the actual selections. There will be spoilers posted in this thread as picks often leak out before they happen on TV. If that's not your jam, don't read the threads. We usually use spoiler tags, but can't always guarantee it. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-draft-overview-and-schedule

Griffin is 1000% an underslot situation. There's no question.

This has to mean Wetherholt first, and the Athletics passing on Bazzana. The A's have been linked to Bazzana in like every mock at this point. Wonder what has changed. They in on Cags instead? Montgomery like in Law's mock?
-
Hmmmm. I'm down for this. Let's go.

Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)
DirtySox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Trade Winds 2024
I'm with you. The Yankees don't match up well at all. -
This is where I'm at. All 3 of the guys have some major red flags. If it's Cags so be it. Toss him in right field and let's hope for some prodigious dongers on the south side.
-
There's copious draft discisson in the actual draft thread for those that aren't aware it exists.
-
Honestly. I wouldn't hate it. Big fan of both Smith and Burns. The organization also seems to have shown that pitching development has taken a leap forward. Might as well play to your strength. It's a shame the position player side of the farm is so dreadful.

New Kiley mock this morning as well. This one takes an interesting turn as Kiley says the Reds are turning away from Condon and are more into Cags or Burns. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/40539871/2024-mlb-mock-draft-30-kiley-mcdaniel-predicts-top-picks 1.) Guardians - Wetherholt 2.) Reds - Cags 3.) Rockies - Condon 4.) Athletics - Bazzana

New Callis mock. Cags again. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-2024-mock-draft-july-11?t=mlb-draft-coverage

To be fair, I wouldn't say he has swing and miss issues. I think he has like a 9% strikeout percentage. It's the lack of selectivity that folks are wary of. The excessive chase rate in particular. He's clearly made it work this season. People are just worried how that will translate. Couple that with minimal defensive value and you have a risky profile.

How much is a guy like Fedde worth in a trade?
DirtySox replied to ron883's topic in Trade Winds 2024
While I adore the draft, I'm ready for it to be over so we can get the trade season percolating. -
Also I'm not sure Jac Caglianone is anywhere near a household name. I don't think that applies in the baseball draft save for generational type talents.
