  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) Yep. That's why they have to be 100% right on Jo. Danks, Sale, and Molina Jordan Danks? He's a 4th/5th OF with his strikeout rate. It's also completely unrealistic to hit on every top prospect. It's why farm system depth is so necessary. Prospects bust. Quite frequently in fact. You can't just grab two or three guys you like and call it a day. What if Molina is a middle of the rotation guy or even a reliever like many scouts believe? What if Sale is the same? I can tell you that the chances that both players end up as top of the rotation starters is very remote.
  2. Ugh. Anyone else's stomach sink when they saw Mitchell chasing a ball near the wall? Bad memories man.
  3. Huge drop in stock for Giolito as one would imagine. Pretty good chance he heads to UCLA now.

No surgery needed. 6-10 weeks rehab. #mlbdraft Retweeted by conorglassey Jonathan Mayo ‏ @JonathanMayoB3 Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Giolito's injury ends any thought of a high school RHP going No. 1 overall for the first time in #mlbdraft history @mlbdraft Jim Callis ‏ @jimcallisBA Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Doesn't need surgery now, but no guarantee rest/rehab cure him. Future TJ a possibility. @zukows10: How serious is Giolito injury? #mlbdraft
  5. As much as I'd like Kenny to keep selling, it seems he's crossing his fingers that this team isn't awful. If things go south he can trade Thornton/Gavin down the line.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) He's one I like, I put him a lot higher as a prospect than others do. I think he surprises some people. I'm intrigued by him as well. Think I had him 20th.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) I'm glad Molina looks less than great. Don't want them getting any stupid ideas about him being in the bullpen. He'll be at AA this year, hopefully getting 27 starts. Agreed. Not impressed with his stuff just yet. He's isn't fooling anyone.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) Something about his delivery doesn't look smooth or repeatable... South Side Sox ‏ @SouthSideSox Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Don't want to scare anybody, but Molina looks like he has Jake Peavy's arm recoil.
  9. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) flowers looks heavy Looks the same as always to me. He's always been a large man.
  10. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) I wasn't paying that much attention, but Molina seemed less than impressive. I wasn't impressed with the stuff either. It follows the scouting report though. Strike thrower with an average repertoire, but with great control and command. Still need to see way more of him though. Assessments made in spring training should always be taken with a grain of salt obviously.
  11. Sickels and Matt Garrioch have their first combined mock draft up. This is largely for fun and obviously holds no merit whatsoever this early on. Stroman is an intriguing pitcher who fits the mold of a White Sox pick. College power arm that needs to refine his third pitch. Was a closer in previous season, but is now starting. Could easily be fast tracked as a reliever and thus should have some use if he doesn't pan out as a starter. At this point in time if they go college arm, I'd prefer Chris Beck who they have going 3 picks later to the A's.
  12. Aaron Fitt ‏ @aaronfitt Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Ga Southern updated Victor Roache: Left radius fracture associated w/ wrist/forearm ligament injuries. Surgery on 3/1. Expect full recov.
  13. Duke's Marcus Stroman put on a show today. Like most college pitchers, he's certainly a White Sox draft candidate. John Manuel ‏ @johnmanuelba Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Stroman hits 94 on pitch 102, his 74th strike, then get K No. 17 on pitch 106. Best single-game K effort on #ACC we think is 18 John Manuel ‏ @johnmanuelba Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Stroman is officially done. 7 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 17 strikeouts, 76 strikes in his 106 pitches. #Duke leads George Washington 11-0 in 8th #ACC
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Scott Merkin ‏ @scottmerkin Don't completely rule out Nestor Molina for a bullpen job, although he really would have to be dominant over next month No.

  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) In the end, rushing Santos isn't go to help at all...we have Santiago, Leesman (maybe), Axelrod, Castro, Petricka and not to mention Josh Stewart who should be provided opportunities to show what they can do before we're "forced" to go to Molina. I hope so. Petricka is further away than Molina. Otherwise I agree.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 08:05 PM) If we're in a position where Molina needs to save the big league roster, then we're not that good. Molina should be behind Stewart, Axelrod, Castro, and maybe others in terms of being the replacement guy. I know he's special, but Stras has a hard 170 or so inning limit they said they'd enforce even if they were right there for the division. We are on the same page. There is really no reason for this kid to be rushed. There are plenty of other filler arms that should be called up instead to throw what will largely be irrelevant innings in 2012.
  18. eric sondheimer ‏ @latsondheimer Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Breaking news: Lucas Giolito of Harvard-Westlake just hit 100 mph on a radar gun. Pitching vs. ECR. Could be the first prep right hander to go 1st overall in draft history.
  19. I loathe Hawk. He's an embarrassing clown of a hack. I can't wait for the day he's gone.

  21. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...9267,full.story Mod care to split this into a draft thread? If not I'll throw one together tomorrow. Already have one at WSI, but there is little interaction there.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) Isn't "taking a guy in the 2nd who fell out of the first" what people would really like the Sox to do? Potentially. I'm no doctor, but I'm somewhat leery of a broken wrist on a player who's calling card is his power. Depending on the severity of the injury, I'd wager he's picked up by a team with an abundance of picks. Maybe Oakland. He's a prospect not all that different from Choice who they took in 2010. I still think the Sox will continue the trend of college pitching with their 1st rounder. That might be for the best due to their inability to develop legitimate position players.
