2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
DirtySox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) That'd be awesome. And let's not pretend that the Rays got to where they are simply by losing and getting awesome picks. They devoted a lot of resources to finding and developing talent. I'm sure we're going to be hearing a lot about the Royals, Pirates, and Orioles for some time. I'll just have to get used to that. They're the epitome of failure, so they're the stock argument. I'm looking forward to the rebuild. It's long overdue and time to try a different approach. I eagerly await all the moaning from the posters who had stated with 100% confidence that a rebuild will never happen with the White Sox. Seems to finally be a reality. Let's also note that this didn't have to be if Kenny/Jerry and the organization changed with the times. The growing importance in amateur talent, scouting, and providing from within has been evident over the years, yet the GM and owner treat the draft and the farm system as an afterthought. It's finally caught up them. Time to get back to basics, and if it hurts for a while, so be it. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) Think the A's are willing to deal Cahill and Gio? Yep. Good chance Gio is gone too. -
That's unfortunate.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) Exactly what I was thinking. It's one thing to lose Wilson. But to lose him to your main competition? Oh, and Pujols. That makes things a tad bit more uncomfortable for them. Go back to them with Danks as your main bait. Don't settle for ANYTHING less than Martin Perez. I'd love to see Kenny bring back some Texas prospects, but one wonders if the Rangers now go all out on Darvish.

Will be interesting to see how he does. He is the epitome of a Twins pitcher. Good luck Terry.

This has been a fun thread so far. Thanks to all the posters with sources (Rock, Bucket, that guy with a generic Sox name) for giving us an inside look at the process and dealings. Very appreciated.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Beckham for Snider would be interesting trade. Couple of can't miss prospects who have missed and might need change of scenery. Indeed. I'm a fan. His twitter is pretty entertaining if you are a glutton.

Buehrle Signs with Marlins | 4 yrs $58 mil

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) Very very true. I just wish part of the rebuild was hiring a new GM Just my opinion. You clearly have more insight on the situation with your sources. It does seem odd if they were indeed willing to offer him a contract and abruptly changed their mind though. I'd also like Kenny gone. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) So why didnt they at least offer him something. Or how about keeping in touch with him during the process. Sorry, this isnt the case of the player leaving when he could have stayed. The White Sox didnt even try. Sounds like they are rebuilding like they said they were. A rebuild that is quite necessary. Just like they don't need a good closer in Santos if they won't be contending, they also don't need to spend money on a front of the line LHP either. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Good for Mark. No way in hell would that make any sense for us aside from sentimental reasons. Bingo. Now we wait to see draft pick compensation. -
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) I wonder if Konerko will be traded this off season.. DKnobler DKnobler White Sox truly willing to discuss trading anyone, although if someone wanted Konerko, it would require Reinsdorf intervention 27 seconds ago Favorite Retweet Reply

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) My source also said, that the Red Sox won't trade Middlebrooks or Brentz for 2 players with only 1 year contracts... You can keep Middlebrooks.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) My Red Sox source told me that, this could be a 5 to 6 player trade. With either Danks or Floyd along with Quentin to the Red Sox and some of the players that KW wants is Reddick, Ranaudo, Igelsias and Doubront. he also said that they been working on this all day.. Meh at Iglesias. I don't think he will hit. Mighty fine defender though. I'm okay with Reddick and Ranaudo. Not sure on Doubront.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) I don't see many people being upset, let alone vitriol towards him. And $14 million isn't anywhere near market value? He's earned much more than 1 year. I also don't buy all this retirement talk he throws out there. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) Mark Buehrle loves the White Sox, and made it clear thats where he wanted to play. The White Sox decided he wasnt in their plans. I dont know how I can hate a guy for actually going somewhere where he is wanted and valued. This. People are really going to be upset at Mark for going elsewhere? Especially if he doesn't have the option to return here at anything remotely close to market value? All this dumbfounded vitriol I'm reading should be spat at a combination of Kenny/Dunn/Rios/Peavy for creating a situation where bringing Mark back isn't an option. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) If it indeed does happen in the next 24 hours, given that the Sox haven't moved enough salary yet, that probably means he is gone. Bucket seem to imply that's the case. -

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Sox and Orioles could match up very well. Baltimore has a lot of what the Sox want now -young upside pitching. MLB guys like Britton, Tillman, or system talent like Parker Bridwell. I'm not sold on Tillman. I figured Britton to untouchable. Bridwell isn't bad. High upside, but pretty risky.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) I would love to see Bundy part of the deal.. The guy is the real deal Not happening.

I'm not sure the Orioles match up well with the White Sox. I also wonder if Coop is angling for a Matusz to fix.
