I'd also be worried that they aren't targeting rookies necessarily. Maybe just some established players with perhaps not tons of control left. I guess that shows that I'm of the opinion that they should just be rebuilding it at this point. Again.
I don't know what to root for either. Even if the class isn't considered super strong at the top, having that large bonus pool is a huge boon. If you are good at identifying, drafting, and developing at least.
Trying to compete with the players they get in return sounds scary. That sure narrows down the scope. Would rather them just look for best package available regardless of proximity to the majors.

Correct. If they pick in the top 6 this upcoming draft (via lottery), the highest they can pick in the 1st round the following year will be 11th. The Nationals are currently in this situation.
Kinda surprised they didn't roll the dice on a bounceback and possible trade. It is what it is. I couldn't be more apathetic on what next year's team will be. All I know is it will dreadful.
