  1. Bryce Harper will be playing with Scottsdale as part of the taxi squad, participating in 2 games a week. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_was
  2. Another single. Up the middle. Then caught stealing.
  3. Games start today. Saguaros play later this evening.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) Ah, thanks for the correction. That sucks. I hope they find a way to slot these guys, and get them signed and playing a week after the draft again. I had forgotten the three didn't sign as well until just recently. There is also the possibility of gaining up to 5 compensatory picks through the 1st, Supp, and 2nd rounds. Both PK and AJ are likely Type A's, and Putz is a Type B. Paulie and Putz are sure things with offering arbitration. AJ could probably go either way. Obviously, this is contingent on the subsequent offering of arbitration, declining by players, and then signing elsewhere. The thought of having 6 picks through those first three rounds is drool worthy. Especially in what is likely a very strong draft class. It could go a long way to rebuilding what is a terrible farm system.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) The Sox will have the 20th pick in the 2011 Draft. They will have the 23rd pick. Loux (AZ), Whitson (SD), and Covey (MIL) did not sign last year.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 1, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) In case no one's noticed, BA started doing their League Top 20's last week No one Sox player was on their SAL list. Kinda surprised Thompson wasn't, although I'm sure he was discussed. Pioneer League had Blanke (7) and Royse (19). Holmberg was 15 Appy league had Heidenreich (17) and Petricka (19) Reed was also on the Pioneer list. #8
  7. QUOTE (beck72 @ Oct 1, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) I'm of the mind that the Sox should offer PK arb, which he won't accept. He'll likely get a 2, 3 yr deal near $13, 14 mill a year from another team. He will be offered arbitration without question. Hopefully he remains an A. He's been right on the cusp all year.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 1, 2010 -> 10:05 AM) I highly doubt that no team in baseball wants an experienced catcher who can still hit, knows how to catch a pitching staff, and can at least play close to adequate defense. He might not be the top FA choice of teams, but I wouldn't say NOBODY wants him. Yep. Also, the Catching crop isn't particularly strong this offseason. I'd wager someone will offer AJ a multi-year deal.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) Just checked the Trib and didn't see a direct quote, but there was Mark Gonzalez in his last mailbag saying that he didn't think Kotsay would be back next year. Found it. Sun-Times, near the end. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox25.article
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) Is it true that Mark Kotsay said he doesn't think he'll be returning to the Sox next season? Saw this on WSI, but there was no source/link. Yes. Kotsay was asked about the Ozzie wanting an extension subject. He said that it isn't a big deal to him since he won't be with the club next season, but it should be something that the returning players should keep an eye on. I believe it was a Tribune blurb.

  12. Oney recently tweeted that the following article was "interesting." Take that as you will. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/20...htm?csp=usat.me
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) You know...I wonder if Rasmus for Quentin...might not fit the needs of both Not even close. Rasmus is worth tons. Quentin is worth little. Mozeliak hangs up laughing.
  14. Scouting the Sally has a nice piece up on Tyler Saladino: http://scoutingthesally.com/2010/09/scouti...cago-white-sox/ More at the link. Preferring Saladino to Vitek is what stood out to me. Hopefully he can stick at SS.
  15. Sale to compete for a starting job in spring training next year. He is Peavy insurance it seems. Article also mentions the possibility of a 6 man rotation (lol wut) or Sale moving back into the pen after Peavy returns. (if Peavy's return was delayed in the first place) http://tinyurl.com/2b8tr2f
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) I think there is no way Chris Sale isn't a starter in some capacity next year. Correct.
  17. Morel at 3B no question. I'm not sure Dayan is ready to consistently field or hit at the major league level yet. Morel will at least provide good defensive value.
  18. I'd really like to see both gone, but I don't see that happening. I want to see Hahn given a shot to build a team and a farm system that could sustain success. The speculation that Kenny is going to move to VP with Hahn taking over would make me happy. Supposedly Hahn is a candidate for the Mets GM job though.
  19. This is what one should expect from Harrell. Amazing pitching depth on the farm isn't it?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) I think that's a poor idea. He's struggled enough with his control already. Let him work on controlling everything in the AFL and ST next year and maybe, just maybe, we can think that we are 6 deep in starters coming into next year, although that'd still be pushing it. He is also pushing up against his innings limit this year. He won't be starting any games this season.
  21. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) I hear ya, I was just pointing out that after 2011 the rotation may change in a big way as Buerhle's contract is over, JDanks may be dangled/traded if he does not commit long term, Peavy (WHo knows how he will return), and EJax is also a FA. Only one under contract with any sort of stability will be Floyd. There will be many threads about this next year of course. No doubt. He might replace Danks eventually. Things are always in flux, especially with Kenny at the helm. As others noted, I really hope Sale isn't traded.
  22. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) I hate to say it, but maybe he was lefty insurance in case we did not lock up J Danks long term. Next Lefty with any starting potential is Leesman in AA. He should be ready in 2012. Backend though (4/5). I'm not banking on Leesman doing anything. Sale is merely the best pitcher that fell to the Sox at that spot. Conveniently he is a lefty, and was a steal at the 13th pick.
