I don't know. I don't think he came off defending himself that well. His main argument seemed to be that Toronto doesn't deserve a baseball team because baseball isn't the first priority in the town and no one goes. People went when they were winning. The host had a pretty good counter when he brought up the Blackhawks. People only go when they're winning and they are definitely not the top sports priority in town.

I was supposed to meet people for a double header two years ago and they never showed. The first game was fun, but as I slowly got drunk in the sun and realized I was alone for 7 hours I began to feel a little depressed.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) nice to come back to. I was watching lost, however. Good job rios. A mediocre sports night until the Hawks come back.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Isn't Crawford a FA after this year or next? Hopefully he prefers Navy Pier and North Beach in the summer to the money Boston or New York will throw at him. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) Well, I think you could put an average Joe out there and they'd be better than Juan Pierre. Kid is terrible. According to Juan, it doesn't matter. We just need to look at his track record. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) We'd be so much better with Crawford than Pierre it wouldn't even be close to funny/ And ARod rather than Teahan. Or Mauer rather than AJ. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) The team won't be disillusioned into thinking they can just win despite having one of the most pathetic offenses in the major leagues like they were this offseason. They'll have to make some actual moves to improve the offense in accordance with the standards of the American League this upcoming winter. It's so disheartening that we're thinking about hypotheticals for the upcoming offseason. How sad.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) Really? It's 5x harder to find a starting 2b than SS? First of all, I doubt it's actually 5x easier...secondly, I'm not convinced that it's even easier at all. I would presume it would be due to the fact that I believe you can turn any SS into a 2B if you needed to. That alone would make it easier.

QUOTE (The Big Hurt @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) post edited Yeah, I couldn't really see trading A.J. making much sense. Oh well, there goes my interest.

Anyone that has Insider able to let us know what the White Sox rumor on there is about? It has A.J.'s picture next to it. I'd be surprised if it was for A.J. and they were ready to bring Flowers up. But I did just assume that because of a picture and nothing else.

QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) Can't say that I do. But it's not we. Its the White Sox. I've never understood why people find it necessary to point out this distinction. It just seems like some sort of meticulous criticism that you probably picked up from B&B.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) Someone once explained to me, i think when I was housepainting, that 20% chance of rain doesn't mean that there is a 2 in 10 chance that you will see rain, but that, like, 20% of the area will get rained on. So 40% was really high and work would usually be delayed. did i make this up? QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) You are correct, sir. I think. It actually means that 2 out of 10 times when the weather conditions (in the computer) are the same as they are now it has rained.

Obama wears White Sox hat throwing out first pitch for the Nationals

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 05:58 PM) April 14, 1910 by William Howard Taft, our 26th president. It was in that same game that the 7th inning stretch originated when the portly Taft got up to stretch his cramped hocks. If the president gets up, everyone gets up and a tradition was born. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/articles/7...g_stretch.shtml After reading the entire article, I highly doubt that the Taft story is the true origin of the 7th inning stretch. The others are much more likely, though the Taft one is the most endearing. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) My lord people. The President of the United States is a Sox fan, and chose to wear a Sox hat even though he was first-pitching for DC's team. Be happy and move on. I'm almost sorry I posted it. It was just meant to point out how cool it is that he he loves to throw the White Sox hat into the scene every now and then. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) Probably a lot of reasons. First, he'd always be in someone else's shadow. He'd also be changing numbers. The big one though is the contracts. While he could probably play PF, having Deng alongside him is really a poor setup. Which means we'd need to find a way to move Deng. Which is already difficult enough, and which would be more difficult if we suddenly HAD to move him. Why would he necessarily want to go through that when so many other teams can offer him the spot wide open already. Riiight. That makes some sense. And gives a little more backing to why Wade and Bosh are always mentioned, besides the obvious. -

Out of general curiosity, I was wondering why people never mention Chicago when talking about where Lebron James is looking next summer? Are there specific reasons why it's not a reality, or is it just because everyone is speculating that if it's not Cleveland, then it's NJ or NY? I'm not arguing that he should come to Chicago or anything, just wondering why it's never mentioned as a possibility. -
how do you vote for all of the options?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) There's a reason why they are WSI and we are soxtalk. And I don't just mean the copyright bulls***. ??? Because they don't want to risk losing their site due to copyright laws??? I'm confused. He was giving good and valid advice that should probably be followed.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 02:44 AM) You say this about EVERY former White Sox player. If Carlton Fisk came outta 17-year old retirement at age, what, 70, and joined the Twins you would say he's going to no doubt kick our ass. The only problem with that is that the Twins still have Joe Mauer, so I doubt Fisk would get a lot of playing time.

Who is your favorite MLB team outside the Sox?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) My god that is true. When my brother went to Mizzou, I couldn't stand the Cards love. When ever he wore his Sox hat people asked him if he wore it because he was a Cubs hating Cardinal fan, but wanted an AL team to root for. There were other things that annoyed him about them, like the aforementioned blind devotion. There was a thing about how the Cardinals should have won the 2005 WS, because they were the definitive best team in baseball that year or something like. I forgot to mention my ex-girlfriend was a Cardinals fan. B****. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) When they upset you that much, just ask them whats taking Daryl Kile so long to get back in the starting rotation? Oh great. Now I know I'm gonna pull that one out when I'm drunk thanks to you. Will it be worth it? Probably not. Will I share the story of me getting beat up? Sure. -

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) Not sure who you are referring to, but I stopped listening to 1380 altogether when they added Kevin Slaten. They have a brand new ESPN radio station on 101.1 FM filled with some of the most useless sports talk hosts I've heard. I no longer have any complaints about anyone I hear on the radio in Chicago. I didn't know how spoiled I was. And it's the Parris and Burwell show that I'm referring to. -

It used to be the Cardinals until I recently moved to St. Louis. Now, I can't stand them. It's common to hear that they have the best fans in baseball. What everyone fails to mention is that they are delusional as well. One fan is intent on convincing me that Brendan Ryan is the best shortstop in the NL. I brought up a slew of other names but apparently was being shortsighted because I wasn't taking into account defense. Another was trying to convince me that Wainwright is the best pitcher in the NL. I guess there is at least SOME argument to that, but I hated the fact that he was saying he was a true MLB ace based on one season. And no one is worse than their sports-radio hosts. One week they think the Cardinals can't live without Holliday (when there are rumors that he'll re-sign), the next he is a huge detriment to the team (when he's rumored to sign elsewhere). I have to admit, though, that I've had a hatred for the this particular host after he said before the NHL season that the Blackhawks would miss the playoffs due to losing Khabibulan and the Blues would win the division. Point is, St. Louis fans may be loyal but it's almost to a fault. (Whew.....glad I got that rant off my chest). Go Giants.....what's not to love about a team that has had the likes of Barry Bonds and Jeff Kent on their roster. Plus, their GM always gives out the most fiscally responsible contracts.
