  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) Holland loads the bases and then gives up a bases loaded triple. It just never fails Never saw a replay of the pickoff at second base. Anybody see it? Bad call?
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 06:45 PM) Weird start so far for Adams. 6 walks, 6 hits allowed. I wonder if coaches screwed him up by changing his delivery?
  3. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 05:38 PM) Are SBs really essential to his DSL experience? No. Especially stealing home, the cause of his first injury.
  4. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 05:33 PM) As the resident Rays fan, thank goodness. I thought he improved, finally.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Wonder how close Cashman was to letting go of Torres for Q or the eventual package that became Rutherford...? Probably not very, despite the season-ending surgery. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...ticle-1.3372695 Historians, correct me if I am wrong, or just add to this. Cashman was originally hired by The Boss Steinbrenner years ago when Cashman was a youngster, not really qualified to be GM, but that's what GS wanted. So, George ran the show and Cashman did as told, and years later, Cashman is probably as good as any GM in MLB.
  6. Giants peed off their fans by winning today. Sox are surging ahead.
  7. Geez, Micah Johnson hitting .360 for Gwinett playing CF.
  8. Does anybody here have info on the high school SS prospect Turang?
  9. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 12:02 AM) Giants won tonight, which by winning percentage now bumps the White Sox to the #2 spot. Right. Giants, who have Panda Bear playing third, have played 4 more games that White Sox, but they are two games ahead in the all important Win Column.
  10. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 05:10 PM) .977 OPS is crushing, or at least very close to it. 977 is obviously a great OPS, but a large part of that is OBP and a large part of that is a lot of walks, which is not the definition of crushing. Still, his stats are okay.
  11. QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 07:32 PM) Is it that much? I thought he had a year left at 12 million. EDIT.....per Baseball Reference he gets 21 million in 2018 with the Padres picking up 11 million, 2019 there is a 2 million buyout. Further testimony about the brilliance of General Managers everywhere.
  12. Lousy slide by Moncada at third base. Belly slide, and he short armed it. Out. Feet first, he makes it. And when Nicky was picked off second, it looked to me as if the infielder was blocking the base before he had the ball. Oh, well.
  13. Suicide watch terminated.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) Joel Sherman‏Verified account @Joelsherman1 53m53 minutes ago #Mets are getting Jamie Callahan, Gerson Bautista and Stephen Nogosek from #redsox for Reed 30 replies 107 retweets 143 likes I'm sure all of those ex-Bosox relievers are better than the slug Diaz we got in the Sale trade.
  15. Mark, great article. I had read it sometime in the past, but enjoyed reading it again. The trade was made 3-4 days before the deadline, and I always thought they wanted to trade Robin too, but the outcry was so severe that there was no trade of Robin. Then, he became a FA next offseason and went to the Mets. Any truth there?
  16. Zavalo and Jiminez for sure.
  17. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 02:12 PM) Don't know much about the return, but it sucks that I can't root for Melky anymore. As someone pointed out earlier here, this actually increases the chance that Sox will offer Melky a one year deal next off season.
  18. But we gave up second best hitter on the team. Team morale gotta be sinking fast.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 08:06 PM) Waiting for Alex to soon call for acquiring David Price's contract in order to "go for it" next year. Apparently, he challenged Eckersley to fight him in the clubhouse. Beltre one hit away from 3000 now... Btw, is there any additional compensation for Bourjos hitting .250 with five homers? Price is a jerk.
  20. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 08:04 PM) Right...not really understanding what happened there. I think what they are saying is yes, it hit him, but according to them he swung so it's a strike but a dead ball all at the same time... Bonehead play/swing by Davidson.
  21. Watch out for the Phillies. They will be tough to catch, after they just traded two of their players for prospects. Kendrick and Hellickson are gone. Giants blew it vs LAD last night, but they are still ahead in the WIN column.
  22. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 06:45 PM) I'm in my mid 20s. Honestly, those statistics match what I see from my age group. Coke is pretty prevalent. Really? I knew a bunch of people using coke in the 80's; thought it was no longer a preferred drug.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 05:59 PM) By the end of 2018, some combination of Rodon, Lopez, Giolito, Kopech, Adams, Guerrero, & Stephens will be in the rotation or will be pushing for spots. By 2019 Burdi should be back and in the pen and hopefully Fulmer as well. Therefore, the 2019 pitching staff has a chance to be pretty good. No guarantees obviously, but plenty of talent will be there by then. The position side is a much bigger question mark, but there's a chance that guys like Jimenez & Burger move fast and are up by early 2019. Abreu could still be around plus you should have better versions of Anderson & Moncada. And who knows, there could be some surprises with the fringier guys in AAA right now and potentially a free agent signing or two. I think .500 is a somewhat realistic goal for 2019. This would not surprise me, since Sox will not lose a first round draft pick.
  24. As far as AAA first basemen go, is Gillaspie ranked ahead of Delmonico and Hayes?
