  1. Pelfrey makes me tired. He hung in there, though. Might get the win.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 04:49 PM) I see guys who do choke up all the time like Rizzo, and Votto and Bonds. They seem to do fine. There are very few that barely clear the wall. How much farther will a ball travel from the same guy hit identically,if he is swing a 35 inch 35 ounce bat on the end , vs a 36 inch 36 ounce bat where he chokes up an inch or two? The guy who hit the most home runs choked up. The guy that got the most hits, choked up. Yeah, stupid idea. Gotta be a math guy out there. But I bet the guy who chokes up strikes out less.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 07:39 AM) Rizzo and Votto choke up pretty high. I used to think that players would emulate Barry Bonds and choke up more. Not so much.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 05:54 PM) Anyone else concerned about Robert ? He's been out longer than expected and hasn't played since he came back with 1 AB and then was pulled. He is getting the best medical attention possible in DR. They have a 12 year old specialist who really knows the ins and outs of the old meniscus. It's really important we get him back on the field so we can continue teaching him the finer points of stealing home. That's what you do with a 19 year old for whom you just forked over $55 Million or so.
  5. Any word on Tito Polo?
  6. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 07:55 PM) Can't wait for Robert to come back and hopefully start doing his thang. The future is beyond exciting! What good does playing in DR do, compared with over here?
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) Ultimately, that is what I conceded yesterday. If they really believe in him, fabulous. They obviously do this for a living, while I sit on the couch. One minor gripe: It is IRRELEVANT that the White Sox paid very little for Tommy Kahnle. That has absolutely nothing to do with his market value. The White Sox paid an immense price for Gordon Beckham, and yet his market value was very little (despite them getting a decent little prospect back for him from the Angels). It works both ways. You're right. We traded Gordo to LAA for Almonte, who we traded to Rockies for Kahnle, who we traded to Yanks for Rutherford and Polo.
  8. I have a bunch of pals who are Red Sox fans. Yes, they are obnoxious, but they know their baseball, usually. Anyway, to a man, they think the Yanks really got the best of this trade. They all think DRob and Kahnle are really good and that Yanks no longer had high hopes for Rutherford. I laughed. We'll see.
  9. Anybody know Polo is going? 14 games at AA with Yanks, and he excelled.
  10. When I first got news of the players involved in the trade, it looked as if Polo was the fourth player, the guy thrown in as the so-called lotto pick, and the two real prospects in the trade were quickly added to the Sox Top Thirty list. Not so for Tito Polo. Then, I look at his stats and his scouting report here, and he looks pretty damn good. Good enough to easily make the Top 30 List. Why, for example, is he not listed ahead of Basabe? Same with just about every other prospect from Basabe on down. I hope they keep him at AA, at least.
  11. Padres and Giants open a crucial four game series tonight.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 08:26 AM) Ha! Nice catch there! Ditto.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 07:32 PM) Sounds like if Fulmer had spent all of 2016 in A+ and started this year in AA, you'd love him. I don't see how these guys repeating AA or in Stephen's case reaching AA at 24 years old is supposed to be some conclusive proof that Fulmer is an inferior prospect. It's fairly logical to think if we slow-walked Fulmer's development, he'd have a fan club following his AA debut this year with interest. I've been wondering if he might be hurt since about mid-May this eyar, but what seems most clear is the Sox are paying the price for pushing his development timeline harder than was reasonable. Good analysis, Jake, but it just might be a bad draft pick. On another note, I saw that Luis Robert made a one at bat return, struck out, and was replaced.
  14. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 04:40 PM) Who knows, I did read he had comps to David Justice although I don't see it myself. The best part of Dave Justice was his ex-wife.
  15. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 11:36 PM) I think he winds up back with the royals along with cash for SS Nicky Lopez* or OF/1B Samir Duenez*. BA just ranked both of them at 10 & 9 in their midseason update but the royals system is in shambles. Cmon, Beautox, why would Royals give up Lopez?
  16. I watched Mike and Mike this morning, and after briefly dissecting the trade, they went into a fairly long comedy routine about Moncada and his Twinkee experience a while back. Was not funny
  17. And how about starting Rutherford in High A W-S?
  18. I'll put Morrison in there somewhere.
  19. What's to stop DD and Cashman talking or texting to put the wood to Hahn? Obviously they know Hahn is playing them both.
  20. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) Kyle Holder, who doesn't appear to be much of a prospect at this point. Not a first rounder --- correct?
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:41 PM) My guess is that they're waiting until the game is over to announce it. ( What do I know thou ). ? I have seen it when a trade is announced mid-game.
  22. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 10:10 PM) seems like WS is always rained out A few years ago it was Bristol. Now W-S.
