  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) White Sox practically groom him as a player from a young age is a sweet story. Who plays him in the movie? Not Tommy Cruise.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/pro...p?P=Grant-Green The Internet is our friend. That 2009 draft haul by Oakland resembles a lot of White Sox picks.
  3. Even though Hansen struggled in 2015-16 in college, he did well this year at Kanny, and Low A is vastly superior to college ball. If I were a Doctor, I would characterize his last year at OU as a 'Hiccup".
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) An interesting release to start the season... Matt Eddy‏ @MattEddyBA 51m51 minutes ago #Athletics release 25-year-old 1B Rangel Ravelo, part of return from #WhiteSox for Jeff Samardzija. Hit .262/.334/.395 at Triple-A Nashville Ravelo now with Memphis Redbirds. 35 games, .339/.414/..514/.928.
  5. Who or what did we give up for Youkilis?
  6. There used to be talk here of Rockies being interested in Q. They just promoted #1 Prospect Rodgers to AA. All he did at High A was hit .400 with 12 HRs in 48 games.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) VOTE VOTE VOTE! That's what cub fans are doing.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Kahlne has no track record to speak of, I highly doubt we get a top 100 guy for him. If so it will be 80-100 range His record is pretty consistent over 4 years or so (2014-17). I'm not sure of two things, tho: Why did Rockies let him go, and why did Sox send him down last year? Cannot remember. Don't forget, he has always been on s***ty teams.
  9. Kopech getting the start at All Star Game Tuesday.
  10. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) Torres needs Tommy John apparently. I wonder if the Yanks would make him available for Q. On his non-throwing arm. Edit: Just saw this was mentioned earlier.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) Exactly. If I were Cashman, I'd much rather spend big on the 2018-19 free agent, in particular the positional guys, rather than spend big on the starters who will be available this coming offseason. If that requires trading some prospects away for a cost-controlled TOR starter then so be it. The new luxury tax is a legit hinderence to the traditional big spenders. They now have to be much more strategic on how they spend their money. Not too difficult, since this is the last year Yanks have to pay ARod and Sabathia.
  12. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) The reality is we just don't really know what we have with him yet. Physical specimen? Yes. Exciting prospect? Of course. But there are many many dudes who can run into one but can't hit MLB pitching. We're going to need at least the rest of this season to make any type of useful guess at a timeline. Only if he faces US talent, whether it be Great Falls or Kanny.
  13. Northsider, what have you heard about the top 2 picks?
  14. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 09:39 AM) See, Avi's Rod Carew-esque Babip has lead to irrational exhuberance, such as calling him a "middle order bat." Or recalling KW's unadulterated BS of calling Avi's potential as "30-30." Now, drop his Babip to a league average Babip, or even slightly above average, and Avi's a below average player, at best. Re-signing him would be insanity, IMO. I think you just redefined the word "insanity". .330ish is still .330ish. He has been nothing short of "great" this year. I know insanity in a Sox uniform when I see it, and this isn't it. Signing Dunn, Rios, Manny, Griffey -- that is insanity. The Swisher trades -- that is insanity.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 01:51 AM) http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1966481...ick-royce-lewis Royce Lewis just signed with the Twins for about $1 million under slot... Scott Boras is his agent, and he settled for underslot money? He was a lot tougher on Sox when he represented Rodon.
  16. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 06:09 PM) Fulmer has done absolutely nothing to be regarded as a top 9 prospect in our system other than being a high draft pick. Not saying to completely give up on him, but the idea of him being a TOR (top 2) pitcher seems pretty far fetched to me. If he was a 3rd round pick would he even be top 12 in our system based on what he's done so far in his career? Correct. Same syndrome applied to Courtney Hawkins a few years ago. Fulmer not THAT bad, however.
  17. Basabe and Diaz way too high. Can't wait to see Burger in action.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 07:27 PM) Who is interested in Kahnle? Rockies would like him back after bullpen blew an 8 run lead in last 4 innings last night.
  19. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 05:15 PM) I think that he has already played his last baseball game. Looks like no team will draft him and I don't think he can go back to college. Not true. He is returning to Oregon State next season. His Coach and the University President are behind him -- publicly. As of now, he will be part of the team next year. None of knows what he did or didn't do 6 years ago, and I'm not so sure that this is doing any good for anyone other than the so called journalist who broke the story. No one knows who tipped him off. I doubt if it was the victim's family
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) And as much as people want to question or allocate accountability to Kenny or Rick for certain moves over the last few years, they actually appear to be forming a great team. Rick is a more patient and effective negotiator, whereas Kenny is able to spend his time evaluating talent. In these roles, I feel as though the two of them form a stronger front office than we've had since perhaps the late 80's/early 90's. Don't forget that the duo of RickKenny got us a broken down yet expensive James Shields for great prospect Tatis, Jr, just as team was about to embark on a rebuild. It never computed.
  21. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 05:18 PM) Luis Robert must be absolutely drained after those 6 atbats hr had over the last week or so Bring him along verrrry slowly. Saving him for the 2018-19 DSL seasons.
  22. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:43 AM) If something crazy happens and Haseley, Beck, and Kendall are all there for the Sox at #11, this forum will be torn to shreds with 2nd guessing. I kind of hope, for all our sanity, that only one of them makes it to #11 and we can all breathe when we know we got the only one possible.' Then again, instant fear of "omg, what if they don't take him! What if they pass on him for Burger!" or similar could certainly crop up. Either way, I took the day off work on Monday and I am very exiting to be sitting my happy ass on there website with the TV and twitter going to track all the draft picks. Draft isn't until 7 PM.
