  1. QUOTE (chisox802 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 10:13 AM) From a speculation stand point, I think the Rockies make way too much sense. Quintana is one of the few pitchers that might actually pitch decent in Coors as well. I live out here in CO, and as a Purple Row article mentioned, I think it could benefit both teams greatly. I have not seen Rodgers play, but everyone raves about him here... Also, if there was anyway ever we could get David Dahl, sign me up. Seen him play multiple times and is going to be the real deal. Just a pipe dream though. In order to get both Rodgers and Dahl, Sox would have to give up both Q and Abreu. Probably a reliever, too. Rox could throw in a young first baseman and a young catcher. My pipe dream, too.
  2. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) He might have one of the 15 best contracts in the game. No where near a top 15 player in the game. And he's already peaked. He might do better in NL.
  3. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-24-pros...lorado-rockies/ Fangraphs review of Rockies' prospects. They are pretty down on McMahon. McMahon struggled a bit at AA in 2016. Not sure he is any better than Trey M. I still think Rockies are more interested in Abreu than Q.
  4. Will someone please explain the $31.5 MM bonus? I thought it was paid at signing. If not, how much is left? Etc.
  5. QUOTE ( @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) Saw someone on Twitter saying that Buster Olney said that he could see the Rockies offer Rodgers/Tapia/Pint for Q and the Pirates offer Glasnow/Meadows/Bell or Newman. I'd take either.... I love Rodgers; Tapia is barely a cut above Juan Pierre; Pint had a horrible half season in Rookie Ball.
  6. QUOTE (Moncada @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 10:55 AM) If we trade with the Rockies I would want Dahl to be in that conversation as well Rockies need pitching and first base. A Really big trade of Q, Robertson, and Abreu might then be enough to get Rodgers, and Dahl and a young catcher. Takes a lot of guts on both sides to do it. Rox can throw in an unknown first baseman, too, since they won't need him. Rockies probably would not do it, though. But, then, Rockies are very close to being a playoff team in 2017, and this trade would help them a lot in that regard. Desmond would go to LF, and they then have a lineup that can really score runs, plus a much better pitching staff.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) How come he isn't eligible to be in the draft next year? I'm not disappointed (since we pick 11) just curious. Gotta have 3 yrs of college, unless it is a JC. He has played one year, so he can be drafted in 2018.
  8. I wish someone in the know would address Giolito's loss of velocity. Probably a good topic for Northsider in some future thread.

QUOTE (shakes @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:11 AM) I keep seeing Stubbs come up as a target. I saw him in the AFL this year, so I thought I would pass this along. I think his lack of attention as a prospect becomes obvious once you see him. He's lucky if he is 5'9" 160 lbs. I'm not kidding, he looked like the bat boy warming up the pitcher when he first came out. His arm strength was average at best and he clearly had an advanced approach at the plate, but there is little power projection in his swing. He would get by on average, because his OBP will not likely translate as well at the MLB level with the approach I saw. He has a lot to overcome to be a backup on an MLB roster. I would shoot for someone with better upside. That being said, he handled pitchers well and was really quick behind the plate. Collins seemed to be constantly talking to him, so he looked like a good mentor. Astros have him at 5'10" 170 lbs. Kind of a latter day Hobie Landrith.
  10. Yanks finally get rid of Sabathia and Texierra, and they spend it on Chapman.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:59 PM) MLBN seems to think Abreu does have good value, regardless of what sabermetrics think. Abreu for Murphy and Tapia? Not enough.
  12. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) The #WhiteSox kept asking for #RedSox 3B Rafael Dever in Chris Sale trade, but the RedSox refused. Compromise: Victor Diaz and Luis Basabe. Check out @BNightengale's Tweet: https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/806...0049196032?s=09 When I first looked at Basabe's 2016 stats, I was concerned with the number of K's (419 AB/116 K), but last season he was only 19 playing Low A Ball. I'm sure he played a lot against Kanny, so he should be well scouted. I'm really looking forward to see how he does in 2017, probably starting at W-S.
  13. The lead story and picture on Rockies' blog The Purple Row features Frazier.
  14. I'm surprised Sox could not get Swihart included, partly because Bosox don't really need him, and we do.
  15. Sox need hitters. Abreu is their best hitter. Why trade him? But, the Rockettes will absolutely salivate at the thought of Abreu. First Base is their biggest weakness (along with bullpen). They might overpay. They think they can win in 2017. Rodgers and Dahl are studs. Gotta get one of them. Murphy is very good catching prospect, better than anything Sox have had in years. Plus, Rox have another outstanding catching prospect, so one of them is expendable. Hoffman has been a disappointment. Maybe it's Coors Field syndrome. Tapia is overrated by you guys. McMahon is, too. Stay away. Rox have a couple of lower level position prospects who are Very interesting.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) Kopech did completely dominate the AFL So did Engel a year ago.
  17. Does this take LA out of the Sale talks? Probably.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) Rumor is Turner to SS and Espinosa DFA Man, I sure like Turned in CF. Of course, I have not seen him at SS.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) I don't think Tilson will be the same speed wise after that injury (still will be fine instincts wise for stealing bases). I'm hoping Sox move him to LF and see what they have but I agree I see more 4th OF with him. If he is in LF, is he any better than Coats? I don't think so.
  20. Couple of injuries hurt Ravelo. He lost part of one year for a reason never disclosed. I always liked his bat.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) Aren't players paid at the end of months? If so, the PA has what, 5 months until the first paychecks don't arrive for anything that isn't a signing bonus, end of April? Paid every other Sunday during the season, I believe.
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 07:34 AM) Pretty sure Reinsdorf despises Cuban, so I doubt that would ever happen, but it would be awesome if it did. Why? Not saying he doesn't, just wondering why.
  23. QUOTE (Jimmy3Putt @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 07:07 PM) How can he possibly have enough money for majority shares of a MLB team? He prints it. Then he deposits it into a bank.
  24. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) You can't predict injuries perfectly for any one player, but if you take a cluster of pitchers with the same delivery issues that Walker has, given the research on guys with upright finishes and high release points, you can say that overall the group will be more injury-prone with the shoulder than a control group without that kind of finish. That was changed two years ago in his delivery. If Walker went back to his old mechanics health shouldn't be an issue Makes sense.
