  1. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) Frazier really really has trouble making contact with the baseball... What do we do with him next year?
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 06:55 PM) I'm sure he'll get a starter role somewhere Sarcasm, right?
  3. Houston had Enron; Denver had Invesco and Sports Authority. All gone now.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) 0-2 hanger for homer number 2. Dumbest acquisition in Sox history I always thought the acquisition of Manny was the dumbest ever, but this one is much worse. I'm surprised the media isn't bashing Hahn over this one. Maybe they don't care.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) I would rather hold to account the person who agreed to the Samardzija trade than the person who chose to sign Melky. Who gives a s*** about the Melky signing? The worst case is that we wouldn't have spent the money or that we would have spent it on someone worse. The way the >$10M/year FA signings have been lately around MLB tells me that was a near-harmless move. Having Melky on the team has made us more ready to win than most alternatives. But Samardzija only worked in theory if the team was good that year, which seemed unlikely at the time to me and some others. Even if you were optimistic, it was still a risky move since you were betting on all the things that can go wrong in a single season. Worse, of course, was that the player acquired wasn't even very good. The good Samardzija, who lives in many Chicagoans' imaginations and memories, wouldn't have made the team a winner but would have at least provided some cover for the logic of the move itself. Instead we traded at least one MLB regular who was cheap and under control for a long time (along with a potential backup C and solid starting pitching depth) for a guy who pitched like ass for a year and left us with just a draft pick, though we can at least be thankful for that. Don't forget we got Mike Ynoa, because Hahn held out for him.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 08:53 AM) If you don't care, why post? Now excuse me while I get off of your lawn. I care, Southsider. Probably just tired and frustrated when I posted that. You can stay on my lawn.
  7. Matt Foster has put up great numbers for his 2 Rookie League teams. 20th rounder from Alabama.
  8. Leury with a couple more hits. He needs a new agent.
  9. When he was with the Sox, Shields taught him how to pitch.
  10. This game is a tribute to Sox front office. No one cares.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) Interesting. Although your math is off enough that I'm noting it, it's provocative to note that his error numbers have gone down at the same time as his total defense metrics gotten worse. Given the dropoff with the bat also, left wondering if maybe there isn't a more specific physical issue bothering him all year that he's just playing through. all of which has nothing to do with your earlier post that Semien has improved a lot, which he has.
  12. Greg, you just proved that you are smarter than Hahn.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:36 PM) They should have traded him to us for Avi. Then LA would have sent Avi to AAA.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) Mired in front office incompetence. Why is David Robertson still on the roster?? Why are Miguel Gonzalez, James Shields, Melky, etc. still on the roster?? JUst saw Buster Olney on ESPN this morning reviewing yesterday's trades, and he closed with a bit on White Sox, saying they have a chain of command issue, which is a real problem. Unquote.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) Big get for struggling Giants (he's looking like he's getting healthy again). Wonder what the price was. Duffy. Go figure.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) I don't understand the bafflement. I get that you guys think they should blow it up, but why are you shocked that they aren't? They're a .500 team with all of their core players controlled next year. They just decided to keep trying to build and win. I'm not saying it's the RIGHT decision, but it's not a confusing one either. Yeah, it is confusing. I've been shaking my head so much, my neck is sore. We don't know if Hahn is totally gutless, or if the ostrich owner took away his telephone privileges.
  17. Is there an exemption for calling White Sox brass any really colorful names for their inaction this last week?
  18. Northsider: Where do you guys place Tilson in the Prospect List?
  19. All parties to this trade should be happy. Duke is happy to get out of the White Sox mess and go to a classy organization that has a genuine chance at a wild card berth this year. His salary stays the same through 2017, and he has a chance for playoff money. Tilson is happy, because he likely gets to play in the Bigs for the first time, and he will at least get the major league minimum and start accruing service time. Sox brass is happy, because they save several millions of dollars. Hahn is happy, because no one can say he did nothing. He probably keeps his job. SoxTalk is happy, because we have something to talk about.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) Duke is just another body. He's nothing special. The outfielder we got obviously is a bust to this date or St. Louis wouldn't have traded him. This will probably be his final chance to be a starter in the bigs. Let's see Tilson play first. We'll probably have that chance real soon. I wouldn't be surprised if he is ranked ahead of both May and Engel, at least this year.
  21. Who goes down when Tilson shows up Tuesday? My guess is a pitcher, since we have 13 now. Fulmer.
  22. Two, count 'em, two high rated Dodger prospects are held out of their minor league games, fueling trade rumors....
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:57 AM) I know you are "New" here, but honestly, with the arrogant commentary that goes with your point makes it hard to read. I know you probably have a point somewhere, but it is so lost in agenda and name calling, it loses its meaning. It was a bit over the top. Enough just to say he (Adolfo) is overrated. Moving him to Kanny was still the right move; he can't stay in Rookie Leagues forever. This is his third year in stateside pro ball. Might as well keep playing him every day.
