  1. Sale will be cool tomorrow. This is the first time he has been on a contender. If Sox need to retaliate, Lawrie can bite a Twinkie with his fangs.
  2. QUOTE (Tex @ May 6, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Love the picture, Tex. One of the greatest movies. A young George C. Scott in that flick.
  3. As Bob Elson used to say, "This game is in the ice box."
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 6, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) Just amazing these guys can't hit a flyball against a fly ball pitcher....... Melky saved Robin.
  5. Sending the runner prevented a double play, but it prevented a run. Geez.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ May 6, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) Exactly. Rodon is going to have to be the one to step up more. If Latos can put up 32 starts and keep an Era under 4, I'll take it. Wishful thinking.
  7. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ May 6, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) I think I am Latos-intolerant LOL
  8. Get Latos out of there. This is the real Mat Latos. Unfortunately. Robin determined to get Latos thru the fifth, even if it costs Sox the victory.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2016 -> 10:59 PM) Somehow we had "succor" and a "bubble of misery" in the same sequence. At least the imagery is evocative. If we still had HERO Jake Peavy on the bump, we'd be in really sad shape like the Giants are with both him and Matt Cain. Now, that said, it's fair to question trading for players with limited windows (2 years or less, especially if they leave as FA's without compensation)...if there's a string of successes from players like Semien and Thompson. The jury's far from out on that one, though, and the White Sox would tell you they sold high on both Trayce and Montas in order to bring Frazier on board. We haven't had much luck trading some of our own heroes as well, like Addison Reed and Sergio Santos. The Edwin Jackson trade also comes to mind, although that was complicated by the financial desire to get out from under the commitment to Teahen (partially). What happened to Teahen? I remember his wife posting here after the trade.
  10. After the slowest of slow starts, Danny Hayes now above .300.
  11. Same question with Keon Barnum. Been on the DL for almost a month.
  12. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ May 3, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) And Ishikawa is below the Mendoza line. Wonder how long he has before Delmonico takes his roster spot. And Ishikawa was close to making the big team out of ST.
  13. Hawkins has been on DL for almost three weeks now. Anybody here know his status?
  14. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 1, 2016 -> 06:13 AM) I don't like the aggressive assignments they gave some of the young guys Who, specifically?
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) He looks like he lost about 10 lbs. from last year. I wonder if that has anything to do with the couple MPH he has lost on the fastball. Obviously when you are 16-7 and one guy is 0-4, there is a big problem with the spot. If he doesn't have control and falls behind, he gets hammered and that has happened each of his starts. From Robin's tone, it seems they are resigned to the fact they can't continue to trot him out there. Would he go to Charlotte? He certainly will make it through waivers. If he could get some control, he would be what he's been. Have some real nice games with the clunkers. But if he is always behind in the count, he's batting practice. It's too bad he has zero command. He's seems like the type of guy who could get by with cunning and guile. You're right. He does look much thinner. Anorexia maybe?
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) One was used in '12 and another in '14 so he had one left. He almost had 2 left; he spent 25 total days in the minors in 2014, 6 less days and it wouldn't have burned an option. Nice catch.
  17. QUOTE (ron883 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 10:10 AM) Agreed. Our system has looked really bad this year... The shark trade is painful right now. Michael Ynoa trade.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) Danny Mendick to High A https://twitter.com/kevinoDandC/status/725034830333894656 Bye Bye to Rondon? Hitting well below .200.
  19. Abreu has been better. Take away that game when Sands played first, .........
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 07:22 AM) Because at the time, saying that about a 22 year old with his ability and history was ignorant. No, it was not ignorant. As I said in a post right after the trade, I checked with people I know in Arizona who follow their team as closely as we follow the White Sox, and they said that DBacks were ready to go in a different direction at third, that Davidson was not the guy, etc. or words to that effect. Look it up.
  21. For those who missed it, Conor Gillaspie called up by Giants.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 04:25 PM) Davidson with the sombrero. It just ain't happening for him. He got his cup of coffee with Arizona, and that's going to be it. You're prob right. I said something similar right after the trade 2+ years ago, and everybody here jumped on me.
