  1. I lived in Seattle for a couple of years in the mid 90's, when Randy Johnson was really dealing and Lou Piniella was the Mgr. Game after game Randy would pitch his butt off, and Lou would bring in a relief pitcher and blow the game. Finally, Randy threw a tantrum, and it got in the papers. He wanted to finish his own games, period, paragraph. And Lou said okay. Finally. And Randy closed his own games and won them. Sale should throw his tantrum.
  2. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Excellent post. The only way for the Sox to become successful is to spend big money on top free agents. They have a poor minor league system with very little talent and poor player development. They have very little on the major league roster to trade for major league ready talent and too many holes to fill through trades. If they are not willing to make a very big splash on free agents it will take a very long time to turn this team around, and probably never with the people in charge of evaluating and developing talent. Bring in top tier talent through free agency and hire a good manager and coaches to manage them. Then you lose your draft picks and farm system gets worse. Plus, they will overpay for whomever they get. Start with the farm. They'll be getting top draft choices for the next few years. Get some Cubans. Get some guys who can run and play defense. Get lucky.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) Kinda scary that Abreu is looking more like a very good player and not an MVP candidate. He would be better if on a good team.
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Could be. Rumor has it that he has recently been battling a nasty flee infection and is the reason for his slump. what's a flee infection?
  5. Will Robin bench Eaton or Alexi for last night's goof up in short center? Or both?
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 01:20 AM) Hey you ain't seen nothing yet. Seventh pick today. This team may lose between 100-105 games. That should be good for the first pick or second. Plus the #9 pick if Fulmer says NO to Sox below-slot offer.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 08:17 PM) Phegley had no future with the organization, neither did Ravelo because of Abreu and LaRoche. Only real value they gave up in my opinion is Semien and he has 21 errors in 63 games. Sox had and still might have intentions of extending Shark. Ravelo had a future here. He can hit. Sure, he was ticketed for AAA in 2015, but still had a future here. Too bad he got hurt.
  8. Terrible throw by Eaton, but not his worst of the year.
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:17 PM) Time to f***ing fire Robin. DFA Noesi and Danks. Bring up the young guns; it can't be any worse than this. Bud Black got fired today. Maybe Robin is next.
  10. If Fulmer is watching this game vs Pirates, he might not want to sign at any price.
  11. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) Also figure for all this talk of unloading veterans, it's useless unless we're dealing from a position of strength or dumping salary. We should trade Quintana, but I'm not confident with what they'll receive (judging by past trades) and not entirely sure how the trade market is looking for SP. I'd say having another Top 5 draft pick is worth more to us than anything we'd receive via trade. We've rarely been a team to sell high and reap the bebefits for how many years?
  12. What was Brannen's injury?
  13. Another nice game by Danny Hayes.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/6/4/87289...-power-rankings Too bad Ramirez has decreasing demand with all the teams currently looking for help there. Trading LaRoche so quickly would be an admission of overreach by the front office. I had to laugh when reading that article. Calling Gordon Beckham a "hot commodity" defies intelligent thought.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) Against Daniel Norris tonight. Maybe they can promote Micah and release Bonifacio while keeping Sanchez as late inning defensive guy Good idea. But then, any idea that includes releasing Bonifacio has merit.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 05:24 AM) i just saw something on Winston Salem box score. Toby Thomas, is playing 3b. according to what i was able to read on him, he is a 1b and started at 1b. i wonder when they moved him? i wonder how he is doing defensively? i see he can hit, but all the little things that make a 3b good, does he have that? no.
  17. Out of the 10 players still unsigned (excluding Fulmer) is there one who is particularly promising?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) I think you are the most superstitious scientist I have ever met. Water seeks its own level.
  19. Rookie League teams should be starting in a couple of weeks. Just wondering who is shaping up to be on these rosters. Has anyone heard anything on the catcher(Alfaro) we signed out of Colombia last summer? He is on the White Sox Top Prospect list. Then there is Micker Adolfo, too.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:18 PM) Eaton has gone from a top quartile to borderline bottom quartile CF. How??? Never a top quartile IMO, but he is not a very good major league player right now. He is very lucky he got the contract extension from RH.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) Speaking of Tank...what's he up to? I know he's a FA, but a little surprised no one has picked him up or he hadn't gone to Japan or something. Oakland got him. Wonder what he weighs??
  22. How did Fulmer do last year at Vanderbilt? I know they won the NCAA in 2014.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) Isn't it possible he could waive that clause to help a trade happen? That way he can get more playing time and go to a team with other Cuban born players. MLBPA discourages that sort of thing.
