  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 11:40 AM) do you remember the huge argument between big Frank and Robin had. it leaked in the papers. both were players and teammates. no. what happened?
  2. I would not trade Rodon for six Longorias.
  3. QUOTE (VAfan @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) Kirk Gibson for manager? No way, though I'm not a fan of Robin Ventura's managing. Only reason I'm posting here is my son had a "Kirk Gibson moment" in Little League a couple of years ago. It was a LL playoff game, AAA level, and my son's team was tied going into extra innings. While at bat, he fouled a ball off his instep and fell down in a heap, writhing in pain. He lay their agonizing for a seeming eternity. Then he slowly got up and tried to put a little weight on his foot. He could barely limp around to walk it off. But, he was going to tough it out and step back in the batter's box. He's a lefty, like Gibson. But he's always been the shortest player on his team. On the next pitch, with a man on base, he hit the ball over the center fielder's head!! It wasn't a homer, and because he couldn't run, it was only a double. But it drove in what became the winning run. His team went on to win the championship. And my son had his "Kirk Gibson moment." Great story. Did you tell him the background?
  4. Kirk Gibson got worse and worse as a Manager, making some really bone-headed decisions his last two years.
  5. When will the Matt Lindstrom era finally end?
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) Pretty stoked to have Plawecki push out Flowers in a couple months. wai whaa Okay, I'll bite. Who is Plawecki?
  7. The over/under on the twinkies was 71. Should have taken the under.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:49 PM) That most definitely WON'T happen. There won't be any knee jerk reactions from Hahn...not in the first week of the season. And they're 100% not in a position to add to the payroll. Bringing up Rodon won't add anything significant to payroll. Let him start a couple of games at Charlotte. If he is lights out, bring him up. If Sox continue playing like this, someone here (LDF?) will soon be talking about the 2016 draft class.
  9. I'll be glad when Sox get out of KC just so I won't have to listen to the KC announcers.
  10. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) If the Sox are in contention, I think Rodon could come up mid-summer in a bullpen role to help acclimate him to the majors and limit his innings for the stretch run, then he could slide into the rotation in August. Disagree. From what I have seen, not surprised if Rodon is the best pitcher in the organization. If starters continue floundering, I think he will come up much earlier, and I think they will continue to flounder.
  11. Can't blame Sanchez. The pitch took a lucky bounce for the catcher, right into his hand. Still an eyelash play. Stay aggressive, kid.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) Beard-off indeed. They do look alike.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) I happened to see it before it was swallowed and it was a doozy. Basically, after watching half of yesterday's game, chitownsportsfan is very comfortable letting Samardzija walk into FA. No one has actually come out and said that yet. Might be interesting if we have an ongoing thread evaluating the Shark trade throughout the year. I did notice that Semien started as SS for the A's, going 1 for 4, one RBI.
  14. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) The way he was pumping his fist and screaming you'd have thought he just hit a walkoff to win the division, not a solo homer in the 5th inning of OD. And yelling at Shark from the dugout after the plunking - guy needs to chill out just a tad. I'd feel differently if I was a Royals fan but guess what I'm not! When KC took the field the next half inning, the camera was on him yukking it up with someone during warm-ups, presumably Sox Third Base Coach. Wonder what the dialog was.
  15. I have a bigger problem with Moustakas. He needs a humility lesson.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 2m2 minutes ago OF James Baldwin III, recently released by Dodgers, signed by White Sox and headed to Class A Kannapolis. Sox release JD Martin, Joe Savery What do you have on Baldwin? Did not see any other news on this transaction.
  17. QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) You would think that teams would want to spend more money on their minor leaguers. I don't know how it works or what they get per diem for meals and such, or are they fed by the teams? I can't see how a team would want their prospects eating crap like mcdonalds every day, you aren't going to get much out of your body doing that. I think they know that, and the minor leaguers are fed pretty well. Not as well as in The Show, but what else would anyone expect? The minor leaguers I have seen over the years look pretty fit.
  18. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) Cleto is horrible. My god. Yep. 6 runs in 1/3 inning. Maybe he's working on his change up.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) march 20, mock http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft/ Can't tell if that Mock Draft was put together prior to Aiken having TJS. My guess is yes. No way Rockies take him that early now at #3.
  20. Drabek was the player Toronto got when they traded Roy Halladay to Phillies. He pitched 7 innings so far this spring.
  21. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) The arch supports should be soft but with a semi rigid arch. Go to sports authority and get the soft sole brand in the medium density. They are red covering with the yellow bottom, I believe. You just need some support for the arch and foot. If those dont take some of the stress off we can pm and ill get some ordered ones. You should stretch every morning before you get out of bed and before you go to bed. Take your grab your big toe and bend it and foot up as far as you can. Then use your thumb to massage it by starting at the front of the heel up to the big toe. You will feel the strings of the plantar fascia. Don't push so hard that it really hurts just so you feel it a little. Also try night splints. You can order them online. They are basically a strap that holds your foot up so the fascia doesn't tighten up at night. You should wear running shoes as they have more support. However, you should change them every 6 months. Modalities are things like ultrasound and electrical stimulation you would get in a clinic. Good stuff. Thanks.
  22. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 14, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) Don't forget that the White Sox also have to pay taxes....just like any other business. They can also depreciate the players' salaries. Or at least they used to be able to do so.
  23. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) The only reason Leury had a big league job last year is because of his versatility and speed. Because he sure as hell couldn't hit like a big leaguer. Yet, one of the strangest events of a bad 2014 season was when Leury hit a home run to dead center. I can't remember the circumstances, but I believe it was a big hit at the time.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Then whenever Jones is ready, the next person gets booted off of the 40 man. All putting Jones on the 60 day DL does is allow you to protect another player until mid-summer. By that time a couple of players will undoubtedly play themselves off the roster. Just don't know who. Yet. Besides, Jones might hit a bump in the rehab road.
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) Yeah, Webb probably is heading to Charlotte with the way he's been pitching. Also starting to think they'll push back Shuck getting added until Sale does too, and they just go with 13 pitchers until then. Albers, Cleto, Guerra, Duke, Jennings, Putnam, Petricka, and Robertson in the pen. Maybe Penny instead of Cleto if they think Sale will be ready on the 12th...which I still don't think will happen. 13 pitchers?
