  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 18, 2014 -> 11:59 AM) Also found a way to make an error. What an abortion of signing that one has turned out to be. Right up there with Mitch Boggs, although Paulino is a bit more expensive.
  2. The SI cover jinx is still alive.
  3. Does Ventura ever take him aside and tell him how bad he is?
  4. Dan Hayes at Kanny had a slow start start, now over .280 with some power. I'd rank him ahead of Barnum for now.
  5. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ May 16, 2014 -> 02:36 PM) There are a lot of players that are currently flying under the radar that should draw some optimism, Nick Basto is having a very solid year at the plate although from all reports his glove is severely behind. Someone else mentioned Trey Michalczewski at Kannapolis as someone to keep an eye on, I'd also like to mention the guy that has been hitting behind him as well someone else to keep an eye on going forward, Carl Thomore. He's had a challenging start to career, after being drafted in the second round by the Rockies he severely injured his leg during a slide at third (some people at the scene thought amputation was a strong possibility). This pretty much derailed his career for the next year, we signed him after he was cut loose by the Rockies as a reclamation project. His numbers aren't impressive but there is a lot of untapped potential if he can remain healthy and develop. Beyond those two you also have Adam Engel and Cleuluis Rondon in the lineup that have a lot of upside, in fact I'd say that Kannapolis has the most exciting mix of prospects within our organization. I just wish Sox would move Sammy Ayala up to Kanny. Not that current catchers there are not playing well, but he has spent two years at Bristol. Why can't we sit Williams for 2 weeks or so and let someone else DH (a catcher perhaps) so Ayala can get some playing time?
  6. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ May 17, 2014 -> 05:50 AM) Agreed, he is on his way to CF. Can he hit well enough to play there? He does not look like a good #1 draft pick at this time.
  7. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 16, 2014 -> 10:20 PM) The Soptic deal is looking pretty good. Correct. Soptic still at High A, pitching in relief with so-so results
  8. Could not help noticing that Houston catcher Castro, whom everyone here wanted to trade for, is hitting .217.
  9. IMO, like I'm sure most of us, he has done a tremendous job overhauling this team to make it a young yet competitive team that can push for the playoffs if not this season but for sure down the road. What are your guys' thoughts so far on his moves and if I missed anything, please tell me and I can edit this and possibly we can sticky this while we monitor Hahn's moves in the future. I think it would be beneficial to us to see how well he has done so far for this team in a short period of time. Kepp was signed for 3 yrs, $12MM, I believe. Thanks for a great summary.
  10. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 14, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) I'm fine with him going to High-A. That's not a terribly huge jump. But they better leave him in High-A the rest of the season (barring playoff experiences). Jumping up again to AA in a couple months may be too large a task. Playoffs!!! Playoffs??
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 13, 2014 -> 09:17 PM) What the heck does that have to do with anything? Only the serious prospect followers will have a clue who Fuentes is. I thought Admins were serious prospect followers, like you.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 13, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) Not to be impudent, but does anyone put any weight into what Harold Reynolds says? I swear the guy does no prep work for his shows and it seems like he barely keeps up with baseball at all. Agreed. Empty suit. He gets chased out of ESPN for some sort of harrassment issue, MLB picks him up, and he wears nice clothes and babbles away.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:07 PM) I have never heard that name before. And you're an Admin?
  14. The more I think about the reasons not to draft the top three pitchers, I feel like the Sox will fool a lot of us and might actually take a position player. Who is the best college hitter available in the draft?
  15. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ May 13, 2014 -> 09:57 AM) I think we've got this all wrong... The reporter misquoted Ventura. He was actually referring to one of the players' wives as being "flat" I thought the beer was flat.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2014 -> 06:39 PM) Considering they DFA'd the guy, I don't think they have a lot of faith in him. They still have to pay him.
  17. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 12, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) Viciedo is better than Avi Garcia. Disagree, assuming the injury heals properly. Look at his 2013 record.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 12, 2014 -> 10:57 AM) watching him stumble around on the first pop fly yesterday, at that point i was done. i give a lot of leash to players, and his leash finally has reached its end. now watch him tear it up When I first saw that play, I thought De Aza was drunk, but then I realized a drunk could have easily caught that fly ball.
  19. Good chance Phegley is on Sox team in 2015, Nieto getting his dose of AAA. Barring trades, injuries, of course.
  20. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 10, 2014 -> 08:36 PM) Someone tell Bill we didn't get Eaton and Davidson for Reed. Just Davidson. Eaton for Santiago
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) Capra was on White Sox Weekly just a few minutes ago: - It sounds like the organization is fed up with Jared Mitchell. To quote Capra, "Mitchell is just a little too damn stubborn". I was shocked at how candid he was about Mitchell. He said they recently had a heart-to-heart with him about changing up some things at the plate. - They really like Micah Johnson and Semien. - Hawkins looks like a plus defender in LF, as he's made good changes at the plate. Capra said even if Hawkins was demoted last year, he probably still would have struggled. - T. Anderson has shown he can stick at SS for now. Very streaky at the plate. - M. Davidson has too many moving parts at the plate, so they're trying to fix that. He said Matt lost confidence early in the year, but they think he'll snap out of it. - N. Fuentes is someone to keep an eye on in Birmingham, according to Capra. - C. Beck has command issues, and his fastball is his best pitch of the 4 pitches he throws. Maybe Fuentes will replace Francisco at Charlotte...
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ May 10, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) I heard that Capra interview. The sigh when Rongey asked about Mitchell was all you really needed to hear. But then he spoke, and it was pretty shocking how much he said. Rongey also sounded dumb a couple times during that interview. It's obvious he didn't know Hawkins was at W-S last year, and didn't know about Anderson and Davidson's recent injuries. All he has to do is read SoxTalk once a day and he would know a lot more.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 10, 2014 -> 02:05 PM) That's why it's an over/under Elrockin prob never made an over/under bet with a bookie......
  24. Mitchell Boggs did it again.
  25. Sounds like a young Aranado.
