QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 11:18 AM) I agree...I mean there isn't much to gain by trading these young players right now anyways...you may be able to move some of the vets if they are desired by other clubs if things look bad at the break...but we can't possibly know these things now...this team is in a funk, but it's getting a lot of attention because it is coming right at the beginning of the season. This team is better than this, especially if Alex is going to hit this way again this year. I disagree. Talent-wise with position players, it is in the lower third of MLB. Easily, IMO.

Dunn got lucky with that HBP. He needs to go 0 for 13 to get to .100.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) That curve has NOTHING on it at all, just cement mixers rolling down the middle Sounds like George Costansa..... "I got nuthin."

Sox need to sign a Joe Calico.

QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) He looked like Kate Moss in the highlights of the Perfecto compared to how he looks now. Only 4 years ago. three.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 03:24 PM) An article titled "White Sox need to stop swinging so much" I wonder if Ventura even knows this stuff.......

I love it when the Toronto announcers analyze Gavin's delivery and explain why he is not very effective.
-
Dunn: First, he makes an out on the first pitch, sending his BA plummeting to the .130 level and wrecks an inning; second, he muffs a fairly routine grounder, turning it into a double; third, on the strike out to end the Jays' inning, the catcher threw to first, and he (Dunn) almost fell down catching it. They should just DFA him along with Leesman. Or, bring Leesman back. This is all in the first inning.

Joey Votto has more walks than the White Sox. 18-15.

Are they still hustling, or going through the motions?

Why did the Sox try to extend Ventura's contract?

QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Just make Adam Dunn go away please. Waivers or DFA?

QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:55 PM) Needed innings from Dylan, not mad at Robin. Taking out your starter in the fourth inning is tough business. Shame on Dylan for throwing over the middle of the plate so much. Hope this is the last we see of him this year. Not with a 12 man staff. No one is overworked (yet). -

If these teams played ten straight games, Nats would win them all. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) With MLB.TV on the PS3, I get to hear a lot of announcers. It's like a breath of fresh air, listening to people who are younger than 100 years old talk about the game and reference players from the 90s, and have conversations that engage me that I haven't heard a million times before - Hawk doesn't do this. Hawk's schtick - I am finally tired of it. You could just have a Hawkbot at this point and really have no idea he wasn't actually there. Cue up his catch phrases and have someone record player names in his voice. As for Stone, I think he's brilliant, and with the right sportscaster he can be great, but with Hawk it just doesn't work. The reason is simple - no one with Hawk will work. He always turns it into a dick measuring contest, cuts the other broadcaster off, and winds up telling me about some garbage player from the Red Sox in the late 60s. The tv feed needs a breath of fresh air, and someone who went to broadcasting school, a real broadcaster, doing the play by play, and then save the homerism and the baseball references for a guy like Frank Thomas to be the color analyst. I have spent my entire lifetime listening to Hawk. I have laughed at his calls for years. I have yelled "HE GAWN" "STRETCH" "HEEYEEESSS" "DAT GUMMIT" "YOU GOTTA BE BLEEPIN' ME" - I have enjoyed it. (not so much the "HELL YEAH" though) I am so f***ing ready for it to end and to finally have an on screen duo that entertains me. Let the flaming begin. You're not suggesting that Frank Thomas went to breadcasting school, are you?

QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 05:31 PM) Axelrod's stuff is so bad it's literally boring to watch. He's just throwing junk up there, I have no idea what Hector did to Robin/Coop to make them banish him to the pen... Do you want junk? I saw Jeff Francis of rockies pitch against Giants yesterday. That was junk. Makes Ax look great. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) The shame will be doing nothing with Rios' career renaissance....but we just have to tread water and hold the fort down. 1) Make determinations on Beckham and Flowers for the future. 2) See if Viciedo progresses. 3) See how many of the bullpen arms can be counted on, and that's always hit or miss (see Veal's disappointing start). 4) Mostly...wait on Sanchez, Thompson, Walker, Mitchell and Hawkins, maybe DiMichele. 5) Develop at least one more starting pitcher 6) Get back the old John Danks (crosses fingers) #4. Waiting on Walker, Thompson, and Mitchell...... will be a very long wait.

I think the Sox should carry one less pitcher and one more position player, especially since we will be having interleague games throughout the season. Why do we need 12 pitchers?
-
Gio had a solid minor league development pattern when we threw him in the Oakland-Swisher deal. He was major league ready when Oakland got him. Bad trade, I hated it immediately, but that's old news. But, speaking of that trade, has anyone picked up Ryan Sweeney after the Bosox cut him last month?
-
Washington announcers were kind to Robin for not taking him out, making a couple of excuses for him before LaRoche's home run.
-
If Grabe's dad is still posting here, could we get an update on his immediate future? Tks.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) If putting ads on the outfield walls leads to more revenue I'm all for it. SoxTalk should put an ad out there...

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) They also got .600 out of 3B, but that doesn't take away from Youkilis's all around production. He wasn't a savior by any means, but he was absolutely worth everything the Sox gave up in prospects. Who did Sox give up for Youk?

Has anyone heard anything on 3B Ravelo? Did he fix whatever problems he had last year?
