QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) Liriano with solid outings 5 out of 6 times now. We'll take that. For Hernandez and Escobar? Huge steal. Hernandez really struggling at Rochester. Escobar hitting in the .220's.

Dunn sitting at .204. Lately, every time he gets close to the Mendoza Line. he rips off several hits. If he goes hitless tonight, he should have big game tomorrow. Or, he might just take care of it tonight.
-
Why trade him? He is very affordable and has contributed to several wins. It's not like we can get Cano or Utley for him. But it would be interesting to see what kind of trade value he does have.

If game is called here, Sox lose. They should have made an out after the HR. -
Ryan Kussmaul had another routine save for Barons in his one weekly appearance. I wish they would pitch him more often. Third Baseman Herbek at W-S has unusual stats. He started at Kanny, did not hit much, got promoted to Dash, where he has excelled offensively. He has much better numbers at the higher classification.

Hawk was great. He told it like it is. I have seen plenty of his games where he says that the umpiring was good, uisually at end of game. Most announceers would have the ovaries to say what he said, being content to be wishy washy. The only other announcer who would do it Hawk's way is Mark Grace at Ariz, and now he is watching games, like me. That said, after the bruhaha, I thought the umpiring was fine. Explain that, someone, please. -
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) Man crush on Hawkins. With how quick we moved him up to low a ball I would have been satisfied it he'd just managed to not embarrass himself, but he's been just killing it since his promotion. Good K rates, lots of XBHs. I'm very excited to see what he does in a full season. Seems like he has the ability to make adjustments very quickly and his physical tools are obvious. Havent been this excited about a prospect since Gordon got drafted. He also has 11 stolen bases so far. Man crush is spreading. I would replace Gordon's name with Frank's.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) Put it this way...I checked out a Seattle Mariners message board, and not a single Seattle fan is arguing if it was a catch or not. People don't care in Seattle. -

I don't think we'll see any ROTY threads for Reed. -

Will Myers finish nthe game? If so, it pretty much answers the question brought up in earlier thread. ($10,000,000 bonus for 2013). -

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) Dodgers management is loaded. They overpaid for the franchise by like $200-$300 million. They clearly don't give a s*** about cash. And it all started because of a divorce of two idiots. -
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) So you're in favor of letting him finish a game where we were down 6 runs? Because it happened. That's the point. Perfectly stated. And what would really be interesting would be to know the essence of conversations from Kenny to Robin on Myers' finishing games. Roughly five weeks to go.

Derek Jeter was drafted out of high school, and he did not show any power in his first two years in org ball. Now he's a threat to get 4000 hits in MLB. Give the kid a chance.

Dan Black still raking. He's a year older than Mitchell. If Mitchell had these numbers, this board would be lit up and Sox brass would be salivating, the Trib would be covering him, ESPN would induct him into the Hall of Fame.....Minor League POY, yadda, yadda. But his name is Dan Black, he's big so he plays first base and can't get promoted because he would interrupt the career path of Wilkins, Johnson, et al. Geez.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 07:56 AM) Seems like the youngest guy we have playing organized ball in our system. We still have those four kids signed in DR who have yet to show up on a roster. Believe they are all 16-17.

QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 06:44 AM) That's around the average height of a 2B in MLB. Jose Altuve is little 5'5". Phillips, Uggla, Kendrick, Pedroria, B. Roberts, Weeks are all 5-11 or smaller. Kinsler and Cano are 6-0. The only giant at 2B is Neil Walker at 6'3". Rockettes have LeMahieu at 2B. Former Scrub. Well over 6 feet. Good player.

Baseball and I are traditionalists. I would love to get rid of the DH, but the union will not allow that. DH and the whole arbitration process sucks, bad for the game IMO. I hope they keep the September rules.

He does seem to have utility infielder written all over him.

I don't see the logic in comparing Thompson to Hawkins. Hawkins is brand new, just out of high school. Thompson has over 1300 professional AB's in 4+ seasons, and he'll probably get several hundred more. I hope the Sox don't expect Hawkins to get another 1200 AB's before they can make a decision on him.

QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 06:54 AM) Baseball America on their Daily Prospect Reports have been showing stats the last 2 weeks on a player in the White Sox DSL League-Antonio Rodriguez-OF. Anyone have information? I find it interesting their following him. He's played 6 games, going 5 for 16 with 1 double. 17 yrs old.

QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) Whats the word on the Sanchez kid in the minors? Is he a legit prospect at 2nd? I don't follow the minors that much, I just look at the boxscores daily. He's the best second sacker in the whole organization.
