  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 07:26 AM) Who the hell names their kid "Roy"? French Canadians. e.g. Patrick Roy.
  2. Has any position player ever been named to the All-Star Team with a batting average lower than Dunn's?
  3. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) Shane Lindsay is back! 20 walks in 14.1 minor league innings this year.
  4. Bristol broke an 8 game losing streak.
  5. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:17 PM) I've seen 18 of 'em play. 19 here. I saw Luke Appling as a pinch hitter, still fouled off a bunch of pitches. I might have seen Tresh play, just don't have a specific memory of him. That would be 20.
  6. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) From 2005-onward, AJ is the face of the Sox to me after the obvious Buehrle/Konerko combination. I wouldn't mind seeing him finish his career here, although realistically that would entail an eventual backup role. Backup to whom?
  7. And, yet, the team's web site has Molina as the Number 2, count 'em two, prospect.
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 07:08 AM) Trade bait for what? Probably trade them to Angels for Trout.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) As for Thompson & Walker, I don't see either of them challenging for major league jobs before 2015 at the earliest. Honestly, if Mitchell pans out, we most likely won't even have an opening in our OF until 2016. By then Hawkins might be a serious prospect and we won't want to commit to any other young OFs until he is ready. I see both Thompson & Walker being trade bait in the not too distant future. Thompson and Walker have done nothing to indicate they will be MLB players. You are jumping the gun here.
  10. He's another Sox who went to either Indiana or Indiana State. We have a few, must hjave some scout who works the heck out of that area.
  11. Wonder if Quintana has an additional edge since the Yanks released him...
  12. Anybody know how Jaffe did in the CWS?
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:39 AM) Axelrod's not going to be in the rotation longer than it'll take Phil or John to get healthy. As long as he keeps going out there and simply gives us a chance to win, that's all I'm asking for. Axelrod would be in starting rotation if he were on the Rockies' roster.
  14. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) So many times as a kid I watched or listened to Bob Elson on the radio as the Yankees beat us just like we beat them tonight. Wins against the Yankees, especially in the Bronx are always special for me. Ditto.
  15. Compromise on Johnson. Bring him up in September. We should have no problem with the 40 man roster. If he keeps hitting at current clip, he'll deserve the call up and might help.
  16. Ohman was lucky he only gave up three runs. I was surprised he came out for the 9th Robin means business.
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) Ohman!!! Hopefully, he gets a couple days off in NY.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 07:50 PM) Off topic, but if you've ever been to the Air Force Academy, it's being threatened by fire: http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/5...284876381_n.jpg It's easily one of the neatest campuses I've ever seen. Tks for that picture, Heads. Big time fires out here, all over the place. Never have seen anything like it.
  19. Lillibridge started in CF for Boston tonight. 0 for 2, taken out for pinch hitter.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) As much as AJ plays, Flowers is better served in the minors, with some veteran defensive C as the back up. We have a couple of those guys in our system -- Gimenez at Charlotte, Espino at B'ham. Both around 30, have played all over the place and they hit a little bit. Never saw either one play, but they seem to be professional catchers right out of Bull Durham.
  21. Dunn now 13 AB's from the Mendoza Line.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 06:38 PM) Flowers is 0 for last 13 with 8 strikeouts. He's also 3-28 vs RHP on the season. Flowers has out-Dunned Dunn.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 06:35 PM) Swing the bat! What a bad hitter Flowers is Is there a chance Phegley will get ahead of Flowers next year?
  24. I would rather have Johnson than Hudson. If Dunn goes 0 for the rest of the week, same thing.
  25. The W-S Dash has some great offensive numbers for the season. Probably looking at 2013 B'ham team.
