QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 07:50 AM) $3 million of salary relief and a marginal prospect is better than nothing. You trust Kenny more than I do. If it's mostly money Kenny gives away, then it's another Manny deal. If it's prospects, we'll get shafted. We have several prospects worth keeping, and Boston knows who they are.

Is that six straight hits off Jones?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 09:26 AM) I really don't see any reason to. He'll be 20 at the start of next season. Let him start next year at AA and he'll still be amongst the youngest in the league. I'm more than fine with that being the plan. Nothing wrong with him spending a full year at A+, especially when he hasn't shown much power yet. Right out of the Mike Trout/Bryce Harper School of Player Development......Yes, they have much more power, I admit, but for all I know Sanchez will never be a power guy, so that shouldn't be part of the equation. It's not like we are loaded with middle infield prospects in the high minors. If we are lucky to get a really special young player, we should push him along. Of course, now that I have gone out on the limb, he'll prob go into a tailspin, but so far he has accomplished everything asked of him. We can all scout him in the Futures All Star Game next month.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) He's not under contract for next year. He has a team option at 13 million or a 1 million buyout. Sounds like Manny Ramierez all over again.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 09:59 AM) I know you have been hammering this point about how bad Youkilis has been for awhile now, and I can't dispute your concern. However, I am curious as to what you would do at 3rd. Would you continue with Hudson? Let Escobar play more? Maybe go with Conor Jackson or Dan Johnson? I don't disagree that Youk has been awful but what would you be in favor of? I still think Josh Fields would help, and he would not cost much if anything. Sox should not be hung up on defensive shortcomings from 3-4 yrs ago. At least scout him to see if he has improved. At least he can hit more than a little bit.

Sanchez moved to SS for W-S. Ravelo moved to 1B for Kanny a few days ago. Wilkins at 3B for B'ham.
-
I hope they move up Sanchez, who has to be one of our top prospects.
-
I gotta laugh at the inept Top Ten Prospect list on the Sox Web site. Three of the top ten have been on the Sox roster since late last year (Reed, Escobar, Flowers), one has been injured all year (Short), a couple others have struggled this year. Maybe they'll update it at mid season. This is not an indictment of the ten players listed, but rather it is so out of date. Looking forward the FutureSox list soon (I hope).

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 07:05 AM) I'm not expecting this to be a season changing move, but if it's just a 1 for 1 for a say, Lillibridge, and Boston picks up his salary, then ok. RedSox aren't that stupid. They'll get one of our prospects.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) This is one of the things I love about Target Field. The ushers don't let people down during batters. Only between batters or innings. Same at Coors Field in Denver, and no one gets upset.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 07:38 AM) Rogers showed Sox 3B are hitting worse than Nationals pitchers. They also are fielding like Nationals pitchers playing 3B. Why did he pick the Washington Nationals' staff to make this comparison?
-
Plus, Josh Fields is hitting .330 or so at Albuquerque.
-
Geez, Mark Teahan would have been an upgrade over Hudson.
-
Is there nany prodound explanation of Nate Jones' poor showing Monday night?
-
Would Kenny have released Doyle if he had known about this injury?

Something has to be done to improve the rotation

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:39 PM) With Drabek tearing his elbow, Morrow getting hurt and Hutchison leaving the game with an injury tonight, KW should be on the phone with AA discussing Gavin Floyd. Toronto is so desperate for starting pitching that they are offering to take Jeremy Guthrie off the Rockies' hands for a AA first baseman. Guthrie has about $5 Mil left on his contract this year, and Toronto willing to pay it. Guthrie makes Humber look like an all star. -
Are players in the DSL subject to the same rules as the other Minor Leagues regarding how long the Major League team can control them?
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 01:16 AM) Brady Shoemaker getting moved up to Birm any time soon? Send Gaston or Kenneth Williams down to W-S, put Mitchell in CF. Women have Title IX to protect them and to give them an opportunity. Shoemaker should have his own Title Whatever to protect those who are stuck behind the GM's light hitting son.
-
Kenny should have brought up Doyle instead of giving him away. Humber can learn Japanese as well as Doyle.
-
What's with AJ throwing his bat in the dugout -- twice?
-
W-S also has several good hitters (Sanchez, Shoemaker, Earley, Siverio, Hankard, etc.). Unfortunately, list does not include Trayce Thompson.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) They won't. The last rumor was the Cubs were willing to send all but a million dollars a year of his salary in order to get some real players back in return. Like Doyle? And speaking of Doyle, the Rockies could have used him.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) I don't see Soler being any better than Viciedo. Have you scouted him?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) My question is how in the world did Molina dominate as much as he did last year if his fastball is so mediocre? I would love for someone to analyze his stuff from last year and this year by someone who's seen him both years. Only Kenny Williams knows.....

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) Here's the other downside to Floyd/Humber starts. Stewart, Santiago and Ohman just aren't capable of holding the team in games....something that the likes of DJ Carasco or Tony Pena were better at, IMO. Tony Pena -- one of Kenny's better acquisitions. I forgot about him.
