Adam Dunn will eat him.

Does anyone know who we chopped off the 40 Man Roster?

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) Ian Stewart is a guy that could use a change of scenery. If you are going into rebuilding he is the kind of guy you take a chance on, and if he gets it back, you can trade him for other pieces to help expediate the process of stocking the farm system. The Rockies are looking for a LF, getting Stewart as a throw in as part of a CQ trade would be a victory. Rockies are looking for starting pitching. They would overpay for someone like Danks. We could probably start with Seth Smith, a solid corner outfielder who hits .280 +, decent power, runs well, hustles. He would help the Sox. Otherwise, we trade Danks in July -- no telling what his value would be then.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) guys, i think we should just relax. North probably has some quality financial advise for JR. and he also knows of a guy that Jerry can invest all of his money with. This out of towner does not get this. Please explain.

Just noticed that the Sox revised the Top Ten Prospect List. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2011/

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 08:11 AM) They are on the 40 man roster already. If they end up doing anything for the Sox it will be a bonus as they don't have to pay Ozzie in 2012. I just now looked at the 40 man roster, and, yes, both new players are on it. Who got bumped off? I remember when Lou Piniella went from Seattle Manager to Tampa Bay, the Mariners got a quality ML player -- can't think if his name. Does anybody on the board know his name?

I am underwhelmed by our two acquisitions from the Marlins. And, if we keep them, they are on the 40 Man roster, right?

Can't believe Mark Buehrle is only a Type B Free Agent. Does someone have an exxplanation?

Could be dicey if we win Wed (which means Toronto loses) and Cleveland loses. Then it depends on tiebreakers, but if we fall out of the bottom 15, Kenny figures to give away the pick.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) At least at this point, it looks like the pick is protected if KW signs some free agent....... Correct. Right now we are # 14 going into Tuesday's action. If we win the last two, Kenny might yet have a chance to get rid of it. Just read the Moneyball article in SI; Boston and Epstein a bit ahead of the curve, and they stockpiled draft choices, whereas Kenny gives them away for guys like Dunn.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Kevin_Goldstein Kevin Goldstein RT @ben_lindbergh: If Adam Dunn avoids getting 11 PA in last 3 G, he'll escape inclusion on any lists of worst seasons ever w/min. 500 PA. As Kenny says, "You don't get much for $56,000,000 and a #1 draft choice anymore."
-
Buddy Bell's last managerial gig was with Rockies. Not successful. Is he younger than Jack McKeon?
-
Kenny is already trying to figure out how to get rid of the pick.
-
Kenny should have his judgment checked.

Sell them to the Greek government.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 07:07 PM) Sox making a run at pick number 13 in next year's draft. Go Nats/Reds/Mets. I believe that means Kenny can't give it away.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) FutureSox FutureSox.com Kevan Smith rated 17th best Pioneer League prospect (was rated 20th in the Appy League). Scott Snodgress comes in at 14 Just saw that list, surprised Walters was not on it. Our top players were pretty old for Pioneer League, possibly. The #1 prospect was an 18 year old SS who hit .268.

Geez, I just read that if Scrubs opt in and Ramirez opts out, then the Scrubs get two high draft picks when he signs elsewhere. This would be right up Kenny's alley. Please, KW, don't do it.

Right after they won game four of the 2005 WS, with everyone still on the field, some TV guy stuck a mic in Ozzie's face and asked him the obligatory stupid questions, and Ozzie went on a semi-understandable rant, saying in broken Ozzie talk that he might not be back next year; then Kenny gets the mic and he said he doesn't even know if he has a Manager for 2006. The problem had already been created.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) I hate hate HATE when the White Sox are not in playoff contention. I'm sitting here getting my playoff fix watching the battle between the Boston Red Cubs and the Rays. I look at those teams and I'm envious. Why can't my team be that good? This season sucks. It's worse than 2007, and that was bad. Could be worse next year. We'll still have Dunn and Rios taking up space.
-
So, if Oz goes to Miami, does JR still pay him for 2012? Wonder if JR has the nads to say No.
-
Jeff Abbott.
-
This does not factor in the ridiculous salary given to Dunn, plus we gave up a #1 draft pick. Way to go, Kenny. Youdaman.
-
Way to go kenny; youda man.

What should be the Sox focus in the offseason?
oldsox replied to harfman77's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sox should figure out the market value for Danks. I can think of a couple of teams who think they can contend in 2012 with a solid lefty, and they would give up some very good position player prospects. Then, since DeAza and Viciedo have looked so good, we should see what kind of pitching prospects we can get for CQ. If someone in charge can figure out what to do with Dunn, we should be at least as good next year as this year and be a lot closer to being a solid team in 2013-14. Otherwise, we will be a 24 man roster team.
