  1. I'm glad he's gone. Seems to me that every time he was brought into a game in a reasonably high leverage situation, his first hitter was usually a lefty, and Bummer would quickly walk him. Then, he has to face the next two hitters.
  2. The Phils sure do a much better job of drafting than the White Sox.
  3. I'll take both Popeye and Sosa over Nicky Lopez.
  4. Who is senior? Tom? or is there another? Destroying Lake View? How so? I don't doubt that you're correct......
  5. I gotta wonder what the coaches say to him after this at bat.
  6. Why not stop beating around your bush and just give us your political slant on things?
  7. Me too. Stick Ramos in there at third and see what happens. Same with Popeye at short, Sosa at second. Sign Elvis, get Montgomery ready for 2025. Easy.

    Getz

I'm all for giving him a chance. He hasn't screwed up yet. He gets criticized here for being a KC grad. Big deal. And, he gets criticized for heading a farm system that is in the bottom 5. He inherited that mess, and he didn't make it worse. He didn't make draft choices the last 5 years, did he? Getz would not have been my choice either, but he now has the gig, so let's just see how he does. If he fucks up, I'll be the first one to get after him. I know I was anti Hahn long before it was fashionable here. Nothing is going to happen until World Series is over. Then his opportunity surfaces.
  9. Yes. Leave Vaughn alone, at least for one more season. He's a first baseman all his life, probably, because he could hit and is slow. What difference does it make if he is 5 11 or 6 3? There have been other first basemen who were not tall. How about Don Mattingly, Rod Carew, Joey Votto, Mark Grace, just for openers. Vaughn figures to be at least a slightly better hitter in 2024. He'll be fine.
  10. I just saw a replay of the AJ false strikeout. What a bad call. The catcher clearly caught the pitch before it hit the ground.
  11. Now that you mention it, he probably did use them. Certainly looked like it, and steroids were more prevalent then. Still, he hustled his ass off, got the most out of his ability, etc.
  12. Back to Kapler. I kind of like him. I know he hustled his ass off as a player, and he was big time into weightlifting when he played. I say, offer him a coaching position. Make him weightlifting coach, hitting coach, bench coach, etc.
  13. If the Dodgers had left Lynn in the game for, say, his usual 5 innings, how home runs would have given up?
  14. Yes, and Sox will no doubt get some offers for Vaughn. He actually hits the ball hard on occasion. Plus, he actually hustles. Those two attributes cover a multitude of sins.
  15. Continuing.... Part of Vaughn's problem is that he was drafted so high. If Sox would have taken him in Round 2, he wouldn't get nearly this much criticism.
  16. Now you're exaggerating. I watched a lot of White Sox baseball the last two seasons, and I saw Vaughn dig a lot of throws out of the dirt. He has reasonable range and his arm to second base is fine. Sure, he messed up a few balls. Those are called errors. Everyone has a few. Yes, I remember two foul balls that got the best of him. Big deal. If you want to talk about his outfield play, I'll agree with you, but not his first base play.
