  1. So you don't like non ex-players in the Front Office? You sound like Hawk. He fired everyone who wasn't an ex-player. And as a GM, Hawk was a great announcer. He was not very good as a GM. There are others, too. Conversely, there are many great Front Office execs who never played professionally. The Dodgers sure like their guy. Tampa has done well with non-jocks. Some people say Branch Rickey was successful.
  2. Sure hope there is no plan to kick Tony upstairs after the season.
  3. Part of the rehab process. (just joking) It's done; let it play out. Who knows, something positive might come out of this.
  4. In five years the answer will be Tim Anderson.
  5. Dahl was injured last season. Shoulder. I don't know if he will be able to go at the start of ST. If not, that would decrease his value.
  6. Here's another new twist to the minor league dilemma. In Florida, Tampa has had a High A team in Port Charlotte for years. This is also their ST facility as well as their Rookie League team (similar to our AZ facility). So Tampa cuts the cord on the Port Charlotte Stone Crabs, but they are keeping the ST and Rookie League hook ups, thereby eliminating the possibility of Port Charlotte getting another affiliation. And, of course, they have a great ball park.
  7. Three long time pals who are solid baseball fans, non White Sox fans, by the way, all contacted me today saying how much they liked the moves for the Sox. Just sayin'.
  8. Rockies' players have always had that problem. Coors Field "Hangover".
  9. Dahl had a couple of fluke injuries. One, he collided with another player and ruptured his spleen. You make it sound like a character flaw.
  10. He did not like artificial turf. "If a horse can't chew it, I don't want to play on it."
  11. I would stay away from Joc. Dodgers obviously don't want him. He had a terrible year on a great team. What's the attraction? Okay, he makes out from the left side. That's it, and he probably wants $10MM or so.
  12. Okay, Jack, I'll bite. What would it take to get Harper?
  13. I never admitted this, but I thought the biggest reason for acquiring Mazara was that super long home run off Sox in 2019.
  14. Jimmy, how would you rate him compared to Ben Bailey?
  15. My clearest memory of Rodon is when he and agent Scott Boras ripped off the Sox in initial negotiations and tried to rip them off even more. Sox should have just walked away after giving him initial slotted offer and taken the extra pick the next year. Instead, Sox caved and paid him over slot, and Boros tried to get even more, which would have put team in some kind of penalty box. I'm glad he's gone. I don't remember exact details, but you get the picture.
  16. Wow. Andrus still owed $29ish million next 2 years.
  17. Chicago has its flaws, too. SouthWest side is not exactly paradise, and how is the Miracle Mile doing?
  18. Yes, it circumvents the arbitration process. No, it is not a violation of CBA. Arbitration favors the players like it is supposed to do; this gives the owners a choice to get out of it. Not a violation.
